I loved Timothy, thought his performance was amazing and engaging, but the movie overall wasn’t super noteworthy compared to some other biopics that have been released. I dunno if it’ll get the Oscar but just my opinion.
Edit: didn’t realize there were 8 nominations plus Dune 2 is also in the running so nvm he’s got more than a good chance.

It is interesting how musicals are dominating the Oscar nominations list this year. 3 musicals are up for Best Picture this year, all of whom have high nomination counts (EMILIA PEREZ with 13, WICKED with 10, and A COMPLETE UNKNOWN with 8). The last time we had musicals dominate was in 1964, when MARY POPPINS and MY FAIR LADY earned 13 and 12 nominations respectively in the same year (MARY POPPINS won 5 including Actress while MY FAIR LADY won 8 including Picture, Director, Actor among others).

I've been a diehard Dylan fan for around 30 years, and have been blessed to see Dylan many times in concert. I will be the first to say I had my doubts on Timothee portraying Dylan, but this young man has shown love and the utmost respect in honoring Dylan. Never would have dreamed he would go to a deep cut most people have no idea of in "Three Angels". You have my respect Mr. Chalamet.

Ok I've been testing the waters with Bob Dylan songs after seeing A Compete Unknown but nothing really *clicked* yet until I saw this performance of Three Angels. WOW what a gorgeous song. I looked up Dylan's version on Spotify and have been going down a rabbit hole of folk music ever since. Today I cried while listening to another song of his (The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll). I revisited the ACU soundtrack and everything is clicking for me now.
I'm so glad this Dylan "resurgance" (or whatever you want to call it) is happening now while my parents are still alive so we get to talk about the music of their youth. And thank you Chalamet for being the ambassador, I'm so glad to discover a beautiful genre of music.
