I have one of these and it is very good. Only thing I would worry about is the wire adjustment for turning flame up and down as it is not very strong at that point. Only used it half a dozen times and it's been fine. I like the idea of just screwing the stove head into the top of a gas bottle and it fits the Coleman gas no problem.
hiya mate, if you check amazon they have both sizes of the vango windshield. There's a slightly taller version available which I'm pretty sure is the same height as the cheap eBay ones. ATB
Nice little review. I used to have one of these and it was great for many reasons, even produced a very strong flame and would boil very quickly. But in its second year, a fault developed in the seal (without warning) and I couldn't get the gas through to light and I had to replace it. I hope yours lasts a bit longer than mine did.
just been getting one of these bud gota say works a treat with all sorts where my old cheapo used to only heat the middle of pans n stuff ...great review dan
I would add one more thing for the gas cooker with a pipe obviously the first wind block would work. Also as the bottom of the gas canisters is concave or raised in the middle you can twist a can into the ground so it is more sturdy
Hi mate... I got one very similar to that from Amazon. Had to bin the first one, pity, but one of the outward folding legs wouldn't fit down, so was uneven. The 2nd one, well it's got a mind of its own, turning it up its either full throttle, and you've got to push in the 'volume' as I call it, the up and down part that you turn the flame up/down. You have to push it inwards, forcefully to get it down, or pull it outwards, the flame that is, but if they'd worked fine, well I'd have been happy, but I'm not, one's useless, the other ones just dangerous. I would take the 2nd one out with me as a back up, but not sure whether to risk buying a 3rd. I bought mine maybe 2 and a half years ago, and at first was pleased, then all I've mentioned happened. Hope yours do the trick. I use Trangias now...Paul. PS.Greatvwee review all the same. Good luck, keep them coming. Oh and I take it your camping cupboard is like mine? Full of gear lol!!
I have this stove and it is my most used one. I think I use it in all of my wild camp videos. OEX now do an identical version to this too. One point, you used a tall gas canister, it is compact and therefore an ideal companion for a smaller canister, this will allow it to be used with your wind deflector and will make it more stable with a pot on top. Lucky you bought the plastic stand, you really do need it with this. Also, it is ideal for cups/small pans due to the small area to sit on. Very powerful stove, boils water super fast but doesn't burn all your gas too quickly. Light and compact, perfect for backpacking. It is the same as the MSR Pocket Rocket in design. I don't like the plastic case it comes I'm because it is bulky, I use the cloth bag my sunglasses came in so it can be stowed in my cooking pot.
Hi ..i have this stove and used it twice and each time it goes for maybe 3 to 5 mins and then flame starts to die ....then u have to shake the can and reignite and same again after 3 to 5 mis it goes out again..its not jst in cold weather either when this happens ive got it on tight to the canister...im having no luck with it and ready to throw it in the bin as it has let me down now on 2 occasions but luckily i had other means of cooking ..thank god ....yours seems ok so who knows wots wrong with mine ....wouldnt trust it on a wild camp anyway...always have a back up...
Only thing I don't like about these narrow little chaps is how easy it is to knock stuff off them - I use a NatureHike one very similar to the OEX one you showed, It's a bit bigger and slightly heavier but can take a decent size pot on it. Has a built in lighter switch as well which is kinda handy if you've forgotten your lighter!!! They're £19 at www.allfouroutdoors.co.uk/collections/cooking-equipment

Pondguru Outdoors the wire is a bit shit mate I agree but for now it works great.. If I get a year out of the stove I am happy it only cost £10
Been using that stove for years, never had any problems with it. It is exactly the same as the MSR pocket rocket 2 and costs a quarter of the price. 😮

What canisters does this fit?
I am trying to find a film about clearing a blockage in one of these they seem to block after a while
Does the gas canister come with it
No mate unfortunately not
That was really helpful thank you so much. :-) as I want to buy one but thought it would make sense to review it first
I've got one and I've used it alot since I had it and it's a cracking little stove.

I have had it on two camps now and no problems. Have you contacted vango ??
English woodsman no i havent but think i will .
absolutely the same problem with my stove. not sure whats wrong with it
Try using a different can you might have one with a defective valve
The stove is only a pipe with a valve at the bottom, the fault must be the canister, try the Coleman c500 canisters.
hey mate, thanks for the video, how well does the stove deal when the pressure is low in the bottle?
Hi mate the lower the pressure in the gas bottle will alway make the flam lower,
@@englishwoodsman cheers mate thanks heaps
Great review. ATB
