This was my wife's favorite song. She always sang this during karaoke moments. We first met as college classmates. We became best friends before we eloped in late 1999. We were together for almost a quarter of century. We were blessed with five wonderful children. She passed away last April 25 due to cancer, or less than a month ago. This song always reminded me of her. I miss her so much.

I feel like I grew up in such a different time musically. I miss songs like this and her voice was always so haunting and beautiful ❤ I was truly fortunate.
My mama used to play this song all the time after her mother passed away, and now that she’s passed away herself I find myself coming back to it. I know it’s a song about a relationship but some of the lyrics hit home when you lose somebody in general. It’s been five months since I’ve lost her and there’s certain lyrics that get me every time I hear this song, “you can’t imagine just how much I’ve needed you, I’ve never loved someone as I’ve loved you” and “yes I’ve tried to live my life without you, knowing I had lost my closest friend” I miss my mama man. 02/06/1968-05/27/2023

Deeply sorry for your loss. My condolences. 🙏🙏🙏 I remember in an interview Phyllis Hyman even said the record reminds her of old lovers and even her family members at the time that were still alive. The content of the song lyrics seem like it could apply to a romantic partner or nostalgic memories of loved ones from our past. It was genius writing. I hope that time heals your wounds or at best enables you to adapt. It's a very rough ride losing people close to us.
This song was my late brother’s favorite song. He died of colon cancer at a very young age-Miss you, little bro. See you in heaven when the right time comes. I love you. I still clearly remember when you took your last breath in my arms. You waited for me to tell you that we will be ok when you leave.
My Mother was such a Phyllis Hyman fan. She played her records all the time while I was growing up. I thank God for my Mother & introducing me to beautiful music. Until we see one another again Mother. Im crying tears of joy & remembrance. May you both Rest in Power.

It definitely seems like it at times but there's always someone who's watching, someone who cares, someone who loves you and most importantly someone who is there for you and willing to be a sounding block, someone who you can talk to or just a shoulder to cry on and listen to to you. Reach out and others, if you see something say something. We all need help and someone to talk to. God didn't bring you this far to let you go. Love

You wouldn’t understand, a woman can go through so many heart ♥️ ache’s in life, until it just gets you down. I feel her pain, it’s a pain that’s so unbearable & you can’t explain it to anyone because people are so judge-mental, so you just keep it to yourself until you feel like 👍🏿 you can’t take the pain any longer. I’m at that point right 👉 now. But I will never 👎🏿 do what she did, I’m leaning & depending on “Yah” because he’s the only one that can help you without judging you so harshly. Probably the best love song ever! So sad that she never found true love!
I had visited NYC for the first time for my birthday. PH passed away that weekend. Everyone I was around was so stunned. Soon, the Apollo paid tribute to her on its marquee. I wish that I could find the picture that I took of it. What is so sad about this song is that it was the last song the Great Linda Creed wrote before she passed away from cancer. So whenever I listen to this song, it's like a double whammy of emotions.
We were waiting for her to arrive in town to perform at artscape in a few days until the dreadful news...we were STUNNED too.miss her soooo

I'm an old soul from my twenties. A friend who I hadn't been in touch with for years I sent it to him.. I told him doesn't matter what I heard what was said "I Love You" we kept in touch for six years before he passed away in 2021. We met in our twenties on a job. We never know who you're going to become lifelong friends with.. I miss him dearly he is someone who will forever be in my heart.
