Interesting Fact: Chaka usually does not allow artists to sample her music, but her son talked her into letting his good friend Kanye West sample this “Timeless Classic” which propelled his career. Chaka allowed him to sample because her son told her that this song was his inspiration for Kanye to battle back from a near fatal car accident that pulled him “Through the Wire” 👍🏿
This sample is literally perfect for that song. Gotta love Ye

I wish my Little Sister could have been just as inspired by this song or anything for that matter. You see she tested positive 14 years ago this month, just before she gave birth to my nephew. After her delivery she went downhill afterwards, she gave up and refused taking her medicine. She passed away several months later, she never even told me before hand, due to the shame and embarrassment she felt. I say all that, to basically say this, I'm proud of you as a human being for never giving up, and finding something to inspire and encourage you to keep fighting. Be Blessed Always 🙏🏿❤️🌹🌹🌹🌹

Everything about this video and song is absolutely splendid.
In retrospect, I find the chart positions not fitting for such a great song. It peaked at # 60, #15, and #16 on the Pop, R&B, and Adult Contemporary Charts, respectively. However, I think it should have made the top ten or even top 5 in each category. When I was younger, I did not appreciate the beauty of this song or simply overlooked it. Today, as a middle aged man, I now know better. Thanks, Chaka.

Joseph Babica I completely agree with you. The world was so different back then and we didn’t have anywhere near the gadgets that are popular today. If we wanted to have fun, we would go to a friend’s house and ask their parents if they could come out and play. We never wanted to stay inside and if it was a rainy/stormy day, we would be sad because we had to stay inside. The world has changed so much over the years that you’re right about people not believing that. Maybe a time machine will come along before my last breath and I can have a chance to enjoy those days again and see my loved ones who have passed on just one more time before joining them for eternity.

Just loved Chaka! Ever since "Tell Me Something Good" (Rufus!) i have been smitten. This song was playing in the background of my life at a time when I was just coming to terms with my sexuality and finding friends and lovers in Tucson AZ. It's a really great showcase for her voice. It's an absolute sin it only got to #60 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Should have been a much bigger hit for her! But at least 26 million views for a #60 song shows that the charts were not accurate for the love we have for this song!

Agree with part 1 as I am a fan of her other stuff. She made some really great other music but you are right, she should have made more like this - her voice just shines in this song like no other song she's done.
Chaka Khan is at the TOP of my list of favorite female singers along with Whitney Houston. Her vocals and style of music is forever classy, pure and magical.
Throw Tina in the mix for me. These ladies had power that is still unrivaled til this very day. They don't even "sing" anymore.
