I remember when I first heard it. I just thought she was rambling and mumbling those verses till the chorus “Through The Fire.” It came out of nowhere. Boom.
This classic song by the late and great Cynthia Weil stalled at number 60 on Billboard. It should have been a smash follow-up to “ I Feel for You.” Miss Chaka took this one through the fire, to the limit and to the sky.
Im not typically a fan of thid type of singing, but there is something truly magical about her voice. This is one of the best of the songs of all time.
Yessss, I've been in a relationship with the same man for 20 yrs...We been thru ups & downs...It's time we're ready...Ain't nothing like love...& We're In love with one another. Blessings to u
Masterful production by the legendary David Foster & the soulful voice of the LEGEND Chaka Khan can only mean one thing: a timeless CLASSIC. What a gorgeous song.
I was born 86, and grew up with oldies songs from local radio. They used to play such nice musics, it accompanied me until i sleep. Heard Chaka Khan since my elementary to middle school 🥰🥰
Beautiful woman. Beautiful voice. Beautiful song. With a beautiful message. I know who I would dedicate this song to. And I wish I had when I had the chance. Chaka has one of the best voices going....she brings it every time. What a huge talent!
Back in the 80s when my band was about to go on stage, the DJ played this song, and I LOVED IT! Every time we went back to that club, I asked the DJ to play this song for me. Chaka Khan's vocals are powerful and dynamic. She is one of the best vocalists on this planet, for sure. What an amazing tune, very heartfelt.
Seen her live many times here in the UK. Sometimes brilliant sometimes blows the roof off when her voice is rested. Eye to Eye and Through the fire are my 2 all time favourites
@@JeffmChicago So this is the same DLR that told Eddie not to work with Michael, and called Whitney "Poor little, Whitney" when she won the award over them. smh.
Chaka's vocals are absolute 🔥 Then and now! She's a force of nature that has transcended time and fashion and cemented herself as one of the all time great female singers. 50 years in the game and counting!
I grew up in flushing projects in Brooklyn and old school r&b played on every record player and stereo in my family's apartment and through all of the streets and I can't remember ever hearing this. It was until I heard Kanye's sample that peeked my interest and I glad it did because this is such a hit!
Are ppl not in love anymore? Why does this era have so many romantic love songs? The 80s love songs are all so beautiful and eternal. The soundtracks that accompanied the lyrics are also elegant and dreamy.
@georgnesmejanow7676: Really??? Me too, except for Whitney, although I love her too. But for me, personally, Chaka and Sade are actually 2 faces of the same coin that is black music in general. One more upbeat the other more quiet storm. Both their back catalogs show the evolution black/urban music had since the early 70's...
THIS IS FOR ANYONE WHO IS GOING THROUGH "THE FIRE" WITH THAT SPECIAL SOMEONE. LETTING HIM OR HER KNOW THAT YOU REALLY LOVE THEM, AND YOU WILL BE ALWAYS BE THERE.
Yes, pure vocals, no auto-tune-just a pure, beautiful song with an Angel singing. Sadly we don't have that talent today. She was one of a kind, my oldest sister. It got me Into this music. I never looked back.
This song has become Chaka's signature song, more so than "I Feel For You" "I'm Every Woman" "Tell Me Something Good". This Chaka song gets played on more radio stations today than any of her other songs, even 40 years after its release. Brilliant singing coupled with relevant lyrics. What's not to love ?
@@lashunahughes2107through the fire 🔥 is her magic ✨ that her voice is heard from the bottom of the soul like you've never experienced such a true relationship.

I had a friend who imitated Chaka in the 70's the hair, nails, jewelry. She loved Chaka.
[Verse 1]
I look in your eyes and I can see
We've loved so dangerously
You're not trusting your heart to anyone
You tell me you're gonna play it smart
We're through before we start
But I believe that we've only just begun
When it's this good, there's no saying no
I want you so, I'm ready to go
[Hook]
Through the fire, to the limit, to the wall
For a chance to be with you
I'd gladly risk it all
Through the fire
Through whatever, come what may
For a chance at loving you
I'd take it all the way
Right down to the wire
Even through the fire
[Verse 2]
I know you're afraid of what you feel
You still need time to heal
And I can help if you'll only let me try
You touch me and something in me knew
What I could have with you
Now I'm not ready
To kiss that dream goodbye
When it's this sweet, there's no saying no
I need you so, I'm ready to go
[Hook]
Through the fire, to the limit, to the wall
For a chance to be with you
I'd gladly risk it all
Through the fire
Through whatever, come what may
For a chance at loving you
I'd take it all the way
Right down to the wire
Even through the fire
[Bridge]
Through the test of time
[Hook]
Through the fire, to the limit, to the wall
For a chance to be with you
I'd gladly risk it all
Through the fire
Through whatever, come what may
For a chance at loving you
I'd take it all the way
Right down to the wire
Even through the fire
[Outro]
To the wire, to the limit
Through the fire, through whatever
Through the fire, to the limit
Through the fire, through whatever
Through the fire, to the limit
Through the fire, through whatever
Thank you so much 👍🙏💞

Her voice is absolutely stunning!... Timeless song!...🔥💜🔥
Chaka Khan was a powerful singer then....and nothing has changed sounds as unique as she always has been...Beautiful voice!
Good morning Letty Alvarez
Came here from Tiny desk. This song will never get old
Never! GREAT GOODIES remain the BEST Ever...
2023 and I'm still absolutely in love with this song. I listen to it every chance I get. When people say they need more music like this, I'm just honored to know great music like this.
😍
Sim!!!! Sim! Yes! Yes!
Yes!!
@izaelperesdossantossantos4091 not sure what Sim means...but glad you love this song, her voice and her
Same and fully get why she doesn't like Kanye version
Chaka Khan's best song ever!!!! I love this song SO much!!!!! When music was music. Still gives me chills and brings back memories of a different time.
I think music is still "music". You're just feeling nostalgic.
Agree!! What a great piece and performance!just Wow😊
Music is still music, you're blinded by nostalgia.
Amen 🙏
@@nothanksidiot more like musac now..fake crapola
Remembering Back, Now in my mid 60’s yet I still have the passion of a teenager. Perhaps this song provides the strength for anyone surviving a broken heart & still has their own teenage passion!!!
この曲は泣きたい時に部屋を暗くして思いっきり泣いた記憶があります、私は日本人で意味はわからなかったけど若い時に惹かれた曲です、どうも有難う❤
Man. Kanye really flipped this into something so different. I wouldn’t have noticed this was the same song if I wasn’t paying attention to the lyrics.
Chaka said he ruined her song with chipmunk voice 😂
David North same
How could u not?
Yea she said she hated what kanye did to it: ua-cam.com/video/2Zkb5Yfvv0E/v-deo.html
@David North Same here. Only I found out through HipHopDX

I am glad I grew up in a generation where everything was legit. Life will never be the same again.
So sad 😢
Chaka Kahn can bring it. I don't care what decade it is. Nostalgia overload❤
Cheers too you... TOAST
I remember when I first heard it. I just thought she was rambling and mumbling those verses till the chorus “Through The Fire.” It came out of nowhere. Boom.
YES
Probably my favorite song by Chaka Khan. Oh how I love it. Happy 70th Birthday to Chaka Khan!! ❤❤🥳🎉🎊 03/23/2023
She was and still being so pretty and THAT hair, I love it. What a voice!
This classic song by the late and great Cynthia Weil stalled at number 60 on Billboard. It should have been a smash follow-up to “ I Feel for You.” Miss Chaka took this one through the fire, to the limit and to the sky.
What a splendid voice, I see why Kanye was inspired by this particular piece
😍🥰🤩
🎧 I am in love with this song
Im not typically a fan of thid type of singing, but there is something truly magical about her voice. This is one of the best of the songs of all time.
I think just the same.
She's unique, there's no kind of, so singular
A powerful wedding song after 42 years!
Yessss, I've been in a relationship with the same man for 20 yrs...We been thru ups & downs...It's time we're ready...Ain't nothing like love...& We're In love with one another. Blessings to u
hey how'd the wedding go if you ended up getting married@@blesslove144
Artistic brilliance !
Masterful production by the legendary David Foster & the soulful voice of the LEGEND Chaka Khan can only mean one thing: a timeless CLASSIC. What a gorgeous song.
He has the golden touch I’ll give him that
I was born 86, and grew up with oldies songs from local radio. They used to play such nice musics, it accompanied me until i sleep. Heard Chaka Khan since my elementary to middle school 🥰🥰
Everlasting
Timpano maravilhoso o seu. Parabens

You were very lucky. I was 19 years old. I love the music videos.
Love the whole album, played it to death back then
Ugh, she’s so beautiful and sings so well!
One of the most beautiful songs ever written. Chaka Khan's vocal performance is incendiary.
Fun fact: David Lee Roth of VanHalen used to listen to Chaka Khan & Aretha Franklin for vocal training.
Yess!!! This is LITERALLY through the fire! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Chaka's vocals are absolute 🔥 Then and now! She's a force of nature that has transcended time and fashion and cemented herself as one of the all time great female singers. 50 years in the game and counting!
❤❤❤an all time favourite from my first heartbreak 💔. Nearly 40yrs later❤❤❤
the chord progression and her voice are so perfect. What a song!
David Foster is an absolute genius when it comes to chord progressions... as a pianist myself, I'm in awe of his songs
This should have been a BIGGER HIT on the Billboard Hot 100.
It didn't really matter. Through the Fire is an eternal hit for Chaka.
I agree, I loved that song. The 80’s has many hidden gems like this one!
It was only number 60, right?
I mean in a way it was
Didn't it hit #1?
I grew up in flushing projects in Brooklyn and old school r&b played on every record player and stereo in my family's apartment and through all of the streets and I can't remember ever hearing this. It was until I heard Kanye's sample that peeked my interest and I glad it did because this is such a hit!
Are ppl not in love anymore? Why does this era have so many romantic love songs? The 80s love songs are all so beautiful and eternal. The soundtracks that accompanied the lyrics are also elegant and dreamy.
She always give me the chills with her beautiful voice. I promise I won’t cry😢😩.

Me
Chaka Kahn, Whitney Houston & Sade are my favorites!!! Unbelievable talent at it's best.
Vesta Williams also great
Don't ask if we're still here ... We never left ... 💗💗💗
Are you serious😮
❤
Facts😂
Her aesthetic is stunning. The voice to cap it off, such a talent.
THIS IS FOR ANYONE WHO IS GOING THROUGH "THE FIRE" WITH THAT SPECIAL SOMEONE. LETTING HIM OR HER KNOW THAT YOU REALLY LOVE THEM, AND YOU WILL BE ALWAYS BE THERE.
Back in the 80's I always thought Chaka Knan was the sexiest woman alive. I still think that and I love this song.
Same loved her growing up
When I watched it, I thought so too, She is pretty.
My niece looks just like her
I always thought it was Whitney Houston
Wow! That hair!
Damn you know what Kanye really did his thing sampling this beautiful song.
ONE OF THE BEST VOICES IN HISTORY OF MUSIC!!!!🤎🤎🤎
MY ERA IS UNDEFEATED!!!!🤎🤎🤎
Yes, pure vocals, no auto-tune-just a pure, beautiful song with an Angel singing. Sadly we don't have that talent today. She was one of a kind, my oldest sister. It got me Into this music. I never looked back.
Agree 💯. Only one Chaka Khan❤
I Feel For You belongs to Prince
It's Through the Fire and Sweet Thing that gets played the most.
