Thank you all for clicking Play. Make sure you’re following my TWITCH so you can get your Requests done quickly! LOVE YALL
Thanks for doing my favorite sublime song
before they were sublime, they were called Long Beach Dub All-Stars, and they were playin out of garages and backyards. You can still find their music from those days
Sublime is from Long Beach, California and yes, they were heavily influenced by reggae. You can not go wrong with a Sublime song
If you dig hard, you can find a very early tune of sublime and Snoop Dogg way back in the days.
ua-cam.com/video/U1ejfNOj_P4/v-deo.html
This is a very smooth mix between the two. Someone updated that cuz it's much better than the original one
Like he says in the song, he's qualified to represent the LBC. 😀
Amen, brother.
💯
Can never do no wrong with Sublime.
In 1996 I was in the Army supervising a team in England writing intelligence summaries. One of my team was a 5’10” reserve soldier who was 220 lbs of solid muscle. One of the toughest people I have ever met. We were on the night shift and I look over and he was crying. I go over and ask him what is wrong. He was a bouncer in San Diego, Bradley Nowell was a good friend of his and had just died.
He convinced me to listen to Sublime and I have loved them ever since.
Sublime is a one and only kind of band . Their sound can not be recreated and Bradley just gives you a feeling no matter what song he is singing.
Gotta love the Beastie Boy sample
It would be amazing if you could do a whole playlist of Sublime. Their music reaches beyond generations. I was born in 87 and by the time I listened to them, Bradley had already passed. But they're still a go to band, touring, and now young kids are wearing their shirts 🤣
There’s an LBC in NY too, but Sublime is from Cali. Singer spent time in Jamaica and fell in love with reggae. They are a punk/ska/reggae/hip hop band! Unbelievable talent!!!
Incorrect
Correct
@@shadow13265 how? Brad had never been to Jamaica lol
Love me some sublime!
Summertime, was written by Gershwin for the Porgy and Bess opera in the 30's
There are so many artists that have done their version of summertime but personally I like sublime's version the best Herbie Hancock and Paul McCartney's version isn't bad either Ella Fitzgerald's rendition made the song Popular
Ska is a music genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1950s and was the precursor to rocksteady and reggae. It combined elements of Caribbean mento and calypso with American jazz and rhythm and blues. Ska is characterized by a walking bass line accented with rhythms on the off beat.
Agreed. Sublime wasn’t influenced by ska. Straight reggae and socal punk.
Thank you Google
@@basicpianotutorial yes google is a tool to use to find information...
@@lauraself8999 thanks for the obvious captain 😝
@@Bryman5000 He was heavily influenced by all 3.
Sublime fkn rocks!
Oh you gotta do more Sublime.
Sublime is legendary ❤️🔥
I feel the same way about traveling. The last places I want to go are touristy areas.
I’ve always liked this song. I grew up on the East coast of North Carolina but still, I could always relate to that warm weather-- beachy lifestyle , laidback sound. I LOVED that way of life.
back in the early 2000 , was smoking a bunch of weed , sublime was my fav band lol
If you liked this you should check out Santaria, and What I Got
one of my all time favorite songs
Hearing sublime makes me happy and sad at the same time. I'm from SoCal. Rip Bradley
Sublime is often my "GoTo" when I'm chillin'. Yes, they are Reggae influenced...and were from LBC. LOL, you just got to that point in the video. Their *Bob Marley cover of "Trenchtown Rock"* is one of my favorites. I am nearing 60 yrs now and I still have about one dozen Sublime shirts.
I just bought another one!
Sublime is by far one of my favorite groups of all time.
MORE. SUBLIME!
Tite ride, loose windows, big sound, and rolling slow. Great remake. One of my faves from Sublime.
Forgot about the smoke. Fragrance
Check out their song April 29, 1992. It's about the LA riots
April 26
They’re ska punk, ska originated in Jamaica, that’s why they have a reggae feel.
YES!
sublime is awesome!
Sublime has got to be one of my favorite groups of all time.
Pawn Shop should be next😌 (or *Santeria!)
Love me some *Sublime* dude!
Sendin good *vibes* your way!😇
Love Sublime!! What I Got is my favorite I think.
Mmmm some Sublime in the am!!
Sublime Santeria
Yes!!! He must react to Santeria!!!!!
I’m a Chicano dude from LA. I saw Sublime back in the day at a dive bar in Long Beach. Hijole vatos😎🕺👽
If your down to do California Reggae then you need to listen to the band Rebelution!! This band is a must listen. Check out So High, Inhale Exhale or Roots Reggae music. Honestly your gonna dig it and hopefully you will listen to them all
More Sublime please!
More Sublime, please!
Beginning of summer is Sublime season!!
Check out their cover of Marley Melody. Check out the whole 40oz to Freedom album!
My fave sublime song!
Sublime is th best beautiful sunny day kind of music.
So many great songs you can pick from Sublime. I would like to see Pool Shark!! A short song but was a very powerful song about his addiction.
Sublime used to have a party house we all used to go & smoke etc & listen to Bradley & the guys jamming
Sublime is legendary out here in California.
Love me some sublime. They do an amazing job mixing multiple genres. Please check out Sublime - Burritos!
"You cannot ride around in no dirty car listening to this right here" 🤣🤣👍👍
I had a stack of Sublime CD's in the 1990's. It's all good. May Brad r.i.p.
Sublime is/was a lot, many kinds of rock, reggae, R&B, rap, etc. The LBC is Long Beach California where the band originated.
This song would go great with my edibles!! I agree about the clean car. The older I get, the less tolerance I have for trashy cars. 🌺✌️
You're on point with this song man
Sublime is whole vibe. 👌 love it
Sublime is everything!!
Happy New Year Bro! Love Sublime!!!
Every sublime song reminds me of one girl
I was thinking the exact same thing about driving around with this song playing.
I’m from socal. They are well qualified. Great time when they reigned. Rip.
Check out the *mosquito song* by "Queens of the Stone age"
Loved it!
Sublime = medicine for the soul
Favorite band in high school! This song Brad def throws down on vocals. I heard he had attention problems as a kid but he discovered reggae music on a family trip and obsessed over it. Cheers 🍻 👏 cool review
Long Beach is the place to go. They refurbish that whole city mostly downtown. They used to be if Underground recreational Ariat with pinball machines and carnival rides. That place doesn't exist anymore and I missed it almost immediately when they filled it in. It was called The Pike right there near the beach.
Grew up there nothing better then a summer in California by the Beach!
Dammit Van ... (much love) ... A wise person once said
"Drugs have never helped anyone create anything. Drugs destroy. Period."
This is the band that proves it. They started out fine "Lets hang out and get high with our dog" ... "Lets Jam some #BobMarley" .. .. .. "We could do that" ...
They got noticed. Got signed. Got Famous ... ... But somewhere along the way our heroes lost their way. Nowell met a demon who kept whispering "I'm better (writing mainly) when I'm stoned." ... "I'm only creative when I am stoned" ... ... and he discovered Heroin.
I love my cannabis, and I love Sublime.
However.. .. .. forget Kurt Cobain, forget Nikki Sixx, Bradley Nowell is -THE- cautionary tale.
If you get a free hour (a good search may take that long) look them up.
It. Is. Heartbreaking.
This whole album slaps
Sublime- Garden Grove is a nice jam and the MV is a cool vibe to react to
Love this one!! 🔥🔥
An old favorite
Bradley Nowell is from CA, as far as I know. According to legend, Bradley Nowell's parents split up when he was young, and his dad took him on a summer sailing trip down in the Carribbean. He fell in love with Raggae. Watch the Behind the Music of Sublime on UA-cam. Heart-wrenching, but Sublime is, and would have been one of the best bands ever.
Yes, long beach ca. He mentions Long Beach or LBC in many of their songs.
Sublime has some hits- Garden Grove ; Ruca ; Dont Push; Scarlet Bergonias; KRS one; also Cisco Kid …Some good ones !!!
I Cruise this song first day of summer doors off on the jeep hitting a fatty its a tradition. And yes Bradley's father took him on vacation to Jamaica and he fell in love with reggae music
This takes me back to my Marine Corps Days. And yes Sublime is all the way lit. You should listen to the remix they did with The Pharcyde.. 🔥
My son told me about reaction videos to the songs I raised him on. I found you to be my favorite. I still watch your videos when they get too real for the populace. I was a teen when this Bradley dropped 40oz to Freedom. I was like FNM's Epic, ILC Cult of Personality & JA's Jane Says Kettle Whistle - transformative.
Fun Fact: one of this Bradley's best friend is named Ross.
Bradley could be on the mic with Ross..MG
Man sublime has so many freaking hits. Try Santeria or What I Got next. They were one of the most unique groups out there.
bout time!!!
I feel like van is going to do this reaction again in the car!!!
Not a Bad idea
Sublime is amazing. He died right before their second album dropped, so he never got to see their success. My two favorite songs from that album are pawn shop and under my voodoo.
It actually was their fourth album.
Brad was taken to the islands as a teen and fell in love with reggae and ska
Yesss, glad to see you do some Sublime. I think you'll dig a lot of their shit. They're nice
Sublime were and are legendary. Thanks for reacting to them. “What I Got” by them should def be next!
Summertime! Lol I was just listening to this and saw you had a reaction to it. I’ve been following you several months and just found this!😝🤘
If you come to Cali in summer, and want everything you mentioned, come to Newport Beach and visit the all the bars, Baja sharkeez, stag bar, woody’s ward, it’s a fun time in the summer
RIP Lou Dog
Greatest band ever
You need to a deep dive into sublime. Heavy hip hop, reggae, rock, punk vibes.
Respect for your knowledge of the car culture
Thought your reaction was on point! No matter how many times I hear Sublime, I still react as if its my first time. All time favorite band fs.
According to Bradley's father, they visited Jamaica. And Little Bradley fell in love with Reggae.
Fucking finally people doing sublime. I was a month late from everyone copying each other but I’m glad you did Sublime either way! Keep it up
Dude you just gained some more respect. I am so glad you did some Sublime
Well qualified to represent the LBC... Long Beach City, CA
Please check out caress me down by sublime
This guy was brilliant, I don't like to much post early eighties but he was amazingly creative. oh, and I don't get dressed up and my car is semi clean most times.
Californian here. Sublime is a household name. Even if you don't listen to reggae or ska, everyone knows Sublime for good reason. It's just so damn good and smooth and just MADE for those sunny Californian summers at the beach. You'll find their merch still sold at every beachfront on the west coast. Lana Del Rey did a pretty good cover of this song if you wanna check it out, giving it a more haunting vibe as is her style.
naw man i be listening to this in a dirty 07 forester with the walmart cassette to aux hook up, smokin a j after work. love sublime
sublime rules
What surprised me about LA was how gritty and dirty it was, but in a good way…Summers in DC ain’t that bad…Go-Gos are a blast!
I’m with you on the sound system, but this is what you listen to in a 1978 dodge van with no back windows after spending three days on the beach while on mushrooms. The air conditioning is broken but somehow you’re in heaven
Great pick! Go down the Sublime wormhole! Come to the Outer Banks of North Carolina...you would love it!
Died in a motel in SF the night before a concert. Was very sad. Got on the h.
Clean like your hands n nails, that facial hair too. I know you're tossing some healthy oils in that beauty. Looking suave my guy. Hopee you get that summer vacation home off the grid. Appreciate the react.
They loved that Jamaican Ska.
Lana Del Ray covered this a couple years ago.
Listen to Garden Grove by Sublime. Their car is not clean lol
Listen to Sublime's version of Scarlett Begonias originally by the grateful dead.
