The I4+ is currently on sale at Costco in Canada for 100$ off Total 499.99 + tax until Sept 8th. Perfect time to pick up a going in together on a wedding or housewarming gift. Any problems? Costco takes it right back:)) Great review by the way!!
Thank you for the video. I just got the iRobot I4, and couldn’t find any instructions for how to use it, how to clean it. Quite frustrating. Why does a company sell a product if they are not going to tell the customer how to use it, how to clean it, etc. Ridiculous.
does the self emptying work consistently with different types of debris? I am emptying my some-amazon brand one all the time so this would be a big boost if it actually works (ie doesn't require you to come behind it and pull stuff out, tap it to dislodge stuff almost every use etc)
Yes, the self emptying base works with gravel type debris as well as long and short hair, gum wrappers, fine dust, etc. The only item I've had trouble with is an earplug getting stuck but such items are a challenge for any vacuum.
Comprehensive review, most informative. If you could mention....are the rollers universal? Bought a supply because I didn’t want to have down time if something happened to a roller wheel. Hope that this is not where Roomba is going. I see no value in a box with dirt in it. I would much prefer it tooted a sound as to where it is. Doesn’t happen often, and only if it picked up earphones or something. So, it’s stuck...where is it? I should be able to go to the base and beep to get a beep sound to locate. With the dirt bin, I find it a plus to empty it manually, if Roomba picked up a quarter, I want my quarter. With a dirt box....I’d intend to look it over, but forget. A bag change is an expense. Also, consider it a fire hazard. A solution for which there was no problem. You saved me......I’ll pass this model by........glad you’re there. Love your review, you are skilled, keep them coming....... please though.....rethink use of glitter. It never goes away, it’s a huge problem in the Great Lakes......could be breathed in or get behind contact lens or ingested by kids or animals. Not real art, it’s a dangerous nuisance.
Thank you very much for your comment. Yes, some would say the dirt box is not worth it. But I can't tell you how many times I've skipped running the robot vacuum because I didn't get a chance to empty the bin...I guess it's whatever fits your needs and lifestyle - and of course budget. Glad you found the review helpful.
I jusu bought a roomba i3+ and they're worked great. One thing i didnt like that they keep cleaning at the same spot over and over. If you click on the new favorite in the app,you will see there are 4 dots colors. Does anyone know what to do with those colors?
With Covid meaning work from home and spending so much time at home I would go nuts if it took four hours to do 1000 square feet, unless it was quiet enough that I didn’t notice it was running. How noisy is it?
Maybe a little late but mine did 3 hours on its first 2 runs, but after that is only takes 1h15 min now, it looks like it was mapping the area on the first set of runs. My floor is about 70 square meter. It is not very noise either, but it might be annoying when working or on the phone in the same room.
I set the timer on mine to vacume at night when I am sleeping. I just make sure my bedroom door is closed:) The first couple nights I barely woke for a second and realized the noise, now I don't even notice it. Floors are ALWAYS clean:)
Pretty nice job on the video. But you don't quite make clear that you are testing the i4+, not the i4. Many people would not feel that the roughly $200 upgrade just for the self-emptying feature of the + models is a "good investment," since it takes just a minute to empty by hand. Also, you imply that the Virtual Wall accessory is included. Is it? I only see it everywhere as a roughly $50/ea option. I'd be curious to see a follow-up report. After doing a ton of research, I bought three i3's at Xmas time - one for our home and two for our adult sons. Big disappointment! One gift was DOA. I wanted one primarily to pick up dog hair in our rugs between full vaccuming jobs and it was not able to do all of that reliably. Wood floors are no problem and it seems to pick up a lot of little, light debris. I kept getting an error message that "Debris extractors stuck" though "extractor" is nowhere to be found in the manual. It turned out that on the rollers you need to not just clean off the white end caps like you show, but pull them off completely which revealed big wads of hair inside, preventing the rollers from turning. To confuse things more, the manual shows green end caps coming off to do that. The rollers of course have one green end each - but those don't come off! To answer your question, the i3 battery life seems comparable, but I could not dispute the 20% longer battery life claimed for the + model.
Thank you for your comment and sharing your experience. My apologies, you're right I forget to say the world 'Plus' I spent so much time researching, reading about all the different models and then testing that I myself forgot that I was testing the 'plus' model! The virtual wall is included with the Costco exclusive package, I unboxed it earlier in the video. Yes, I agree it takes a minute to empty the bin. Here is my reason I felt it was a 'good investment': You set a schedule to clean, usually when you are out or asleep, coming/waking up to clean home. You begin your next item on the agenda, not needing to think about the vacuum. The next schedule is ready to run, but you haven't emptied the bin and you're out of the house or asleep, the robot will not clean, therefore the house is not clean when you arrive home or wakeup. You're late for work or you need to attend to kids etc, so you can't empty the bin right away, you forget, the next schedule will run and again cannot complete the job, another day gone.... see where i'm going with this... I'd rather empty it once every 60 days, rather than every time it cleans. But that's just my preference and worth my investment if it's one less thing to worry about.
Are the bags i4+ the same as each of the other models? I'd like to buy the i4+ but want to be sure the disposable bags are easy to buy and find! Thanks for your video.
yr old.I have the same issue and it top of that, does not have a handle to lift it or pull it from underneath plases. And... does not clean as good as my 9 year old
Wait, you mean Roomba hasn't figured out how to set up it's app/device to avoid areas and still uses a darn "electric wall"? I have a Neato, Samsung and Deebot. The D was really cheap and even it lets you adjust its area of vacuuming via the app. Next time someone gives me poo for the mag strips my neato needs, I'll just ignore'em
True.. better to get a j7 than this sucker. Its a dumb machine and in some case worse than older robots like 860. My i3 kept getting stuck at simple places where 860 never got stuck. Over j7 is a way smarter and easier to handle model. Worth the extra money.
I just got back from Costco with one of these. Solid review. Thank you.
You’re welcome, thanks for the comment!
The reason why it goes over the same area is because it has a dust detector feature so it’ll clean that spot until it thinks it’s all clean
This video is really professional and also thank you for linking everything in the description box! 👍
I appreciate you going over the cleaning and care tips. If I’m lucky mine will arrive today. I’m excited
Awesome! Glad you're enjoying it!

Great review. Helpful information about how to clean the machine

My friend told me that over black mats or black covers the robot may think there is a hole and refuse to roll over it.
Yes, I learnt that later after using it a few times lol 😊

Those aren't sensors, they are the charging contact. The sensor is on top.
Hi, how about the sound when it cleans, I felt it was loud, could you please confirm .
Yes I did find it loud when compared to the Kyvol robovac
self emptiying box dosent work. ncie and bag is clean. lights is off
what to do ??thaNKS
Perhaps it wasn't on the sensors correctly, or the sensor was not working. Hopefully you resolved it.

mine is loud af compared to eufy, but does clean alot better
Can you schedule cleaning with it? For example clean a particular room every night?
What is error 43
Where can I buy additional bags for the self emptying model. I3 or i4.
amazon

All the bags are the same for all base stations
Because this is an iRobot brand and millions will be sold bags will be available from 3rd party vendors for decades.
