Very nice review. Wish I watched this before I bought i3. I have large house to be cleaned and it's not as efficient as I wanted it to be. Had I seen this video before, I would have opted for higher end model.
Do you find battery life enough to cover the whole place? My main concern about most Roombas (not including the S9+) is a small battery. Good for my small place but not enough for a large house.
@@SmartRobotReviews that's one of the biggest problem. The robot has to charge 3 times to clean the entire house. And it takes more than 5 hours to do a complete run. It also looses track on where it is and sometimes I have to pick it up and put it on dock.
@@nomnommonsterr you would probably need a robot with ~150 min runtime. Most reviewers think it's not a big deal but I disagree. Not many users want the house to be cleaned in like 5 hours...
So you do have a voice! I had got used to your silent movies and felt that it was the normal thing. Nice review. So the floor map in roomba i3 is only for show?
My I3+ cleans great with 4 dogs and the sand they bring in. The problem is the navigation. It spends 90% of the time in my dining room and most of the time misses my bedroom completely.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I don't have such issues probably because I live in a small apartment. Also, perhaps there are a lot of obstacles like chair legs or other furniture in your dining room. Unfortunately, the navigation tech used in this robot is not as accurate as in Lidar or camera-based robot vacuums. Basically, it just measures the distance and orientation with a gyroscope, floor tracking sensor, and compass, and uses this data to build a map. But in a complex layout with a lot of obstacles, it may get lost and repeat cleaning the same areas a few times.
Very good review, detailed and clear. Battery, non-washable filter, no camera / laser navigation, etc. Too expensive for what it offers. P.S. irobot introduced the latest roombu, J7+ with object avoidance and a new self emptybin. 😁😎
@@SmartRobotReviews I am also very interested in the battery capacity of the J7 +. I'm not very optimistic, I think the battery and suction power are the same as on the i3.
@@romanbitenc I think the j7 battery is the same as in the i3/i7, as well as suction power and cleaning performance. It looks identical to the i3 and i7 underneath and iRobot states that it has 10x power (same as i3/i7) compared to 600-series. Looks like the only difference is the object avoidance feature and new base.
Wow, that was one entertaining video from.beginning to end..... It's 12am and for some reason I can't sleep. I bought this vacuum about 35 minutes ago on Walmart online for $288 because I thought it was steal Then I found out thst Roomba has a robot mop too! So I bought the companion for $299 I soent over $600 to surprise my wife (who will.not be happy) all because I can't sleep!
Depending on what you are looking for. I haven't tested the i8+ but assume navigation would be more advanced. For cluttered homes the i8+ because you would have an ability of setting no-go zones + it saves a map. I live in a small apartment so i3+ is enough for me but it's mostly an open space.
Grateful if you could answer few of the queries that I have. How does this Roombai3 compare to Mi 1C mija? Both are blind robots so to say. Is Mi C1 a better deal or is Roomba i3 a better deal. Right now Roomba i3 costs 200 Euro and Mi C1 costs 150 Euro in my country. I am looking for a cheaper robot cleaner for my summer house. I have a Roborock S5 max for the main house and that works very well.
Depending on what you are looking for. I would go for the Roomba only because of its self-emptying base. I can't say the Xiaomi 1C is much better at navigation but it saves a map and also supports no-go zones/zoned cleaning. However, recently the Roomba got an update and now it can save a map but I haven't received one yet.
Great review thank you. I just got the i3+ yesterday from Best Buy online. Black Friday deal. Always wanted one of these. If I wanted to upgrade later on. Could I use the i3 base for the i7 or j7? Because that LiDAR tech seems to be worth the extra money.
Thank you for watching, glad you like the video! According to iRobot, the Roomba i3 and i7 use the same base. However, the newest Roomba j7 uses a different base and it is not compatible with the i3 base.
The new vac would have its own and possibly better base. Not sure why you'd keep the old one. Also the different series almost always have a different base. For ex the i3 and i7 have the same base but the j7 does not.
Yeah, it's also true for most other robot vacuums. It looks like iRobot made it to avoid the area around the base to prevent the robot from accidentally climbing on the base when cleaning nearby as it may get stuck or slightly rotate the base.
There is a Roborock S7+ with the Auto-Empty Dock. Please review the Auto-Empty Dock! I love robot vacuum content, but someday, you gotta release Buttercup dedicated content. Maybe she can ride some robot vacuums!!! 🐈 🥰
Thanks for the nice reviews! You have always done a great job reviewing robots. Hope you can do one for the new the second version of Mijia 1S (MJST1S)? As you may notice, your top viewed 5 videos (4 out of 5) on your channel are mostly Xiaomi robots. 😊
А он и вправду шустрый. Когда смотрела характеристика roomba i3+, думала что на i7+ смотрю, настолько похожи. И самое удобное, что все можно снять при желании и почистить. Спасибо за обзор.
I don't mean to say that you don't speak English well, but I find it difficult to understand what you say at times and the accent makes it more difficult to listen and learn from you (for myself). You are doing a fantastic job, it is myself who is the issue. Thanks for your kindness 😉👍!
Best review on the i3. You go over everything so well with great and just enough detail.
Glad you think so!
I hope so cuz I just started this video and her accent is very hard to get used to so far.
I guess this is the best review overall in the UA-cam that I've even seen so far. Thank you
Finally a good exhaustive and unbiased review. Thank you!
Our pleasure!
This was really a perfect Review. Very good filming and edit, music not too loud and voice perfectly understandable.
Thank you❤️
Another great test! 😁Thank you very much! 👍
Thanks for watching

Great video! It is interesting that it supports 5 ghz as most other robot vacuums do not. The rubber brush rollers tend to be loud on hard floors.
They are! I swear I need time to get used to the noise but it does the job so we have to deal with it 🙂
@@SmartRobotReviews We just got new wood floods in and the S7 makes the noise.
@@jamie.andrews you mean because of the rubber roller? Makes sense too
@@SmartRobotReviews Yep

The Roomba i3 recently received an update, it saves a map but mine hasn't gotten one yet. You couldn't see a map or track it live before.

Well, I was wrong, the j7 actually has a bit bigger battery (2200 vs. 1800 mAh), according to this video: ua-cam.com/video/2jh7QwxpB_k/v-deo.html
2:00: awesome...but all my research shows mixed results so I'm really not sure about that.
Does this vacuum avoid stairs or will it get stuck?

Not cleaning both sides of the base is very unusual. I've seen this on other reviews of the new Roombas as well.

A lot or robo vacs do this but irobots are notorious at it lol
Does this robot also work with the magnetic strips? To keep them from going to certain places?
The Roomba i3 is compatible with iRobot's wall barrier which you can get separately as it doesn't include one in the box. The Roomba i4 does tho.
