It's also bordering on Ai's mid-pregnancy age of 15-16, which all alludes to the blonde kid at the hospital being Aqua/Ruby's father. However, the more creepy side to this is that Himekawa, their half-brother on their father's side, is four years older than the twins. That blonde boy was at *most* 11 years old when Himekawa was conceived, which gives a lot more context to his mentality.

Ruby going dark is unironically more creepy and unnerving than Dark Star eyed Aqua to be honest but that literally could just be because considering her sweet energetic personality you wouldn’t really expect her to go down that route but now considering what she just found out it makes sense which is why I think the animators who worked on the scene of her stars turning black did that scene PERFECTLY because it lowkey gave me chills (Also it was in fact confirmed that Mamoru Miyano aka Light Yagami’s is the voice for Ruby and Aqua’s dad!)
I really like that they cut from the director's face to Ruby in the water already in the manga we had a panel of her feet going into the water but it wouldn't really work animated. They made the right call to cut that.

There's a lot of cultural imagery going on that English-speakers aren't gonna pick up on, but it actually was alluded to in the first ep: Ruby and Aqua are coded after the sibling gods Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi and Ruby even bluffs in ep 1 about being Amaterasu. They were born out of the left and right eyes of their father Izanagi (note which eyes have stars for each sibling). They also had a third sibling, Susanoo (all these names should sound familiar from watching Naruto) who is the hero of his own story. Their mom also died and went to the underworld. The girl with the crows is a sign of the supernatural as crows were often servants of the gods. Interestingly to how this story is gonna end, Amaterasu eventually grows angry at her brother and hides in a cave, and is pulled back out of the cave by other gods singing and dancing, which is celebrated as having happened in the region Ruby and Aqua were born in. Akasaka the author seems to like to do this a lot; Kaguya-sama is also his story and its based on another folktale.

I think i know why she has 2 dark stars; Aqua has been able to keep up appearances thus not letting it take over too quickly by keeping his emotions in check “most times”, Ruby however wears her emotions on her sleeves, so turn all that into hate and we got the last thing we want from a bumbly happy person, one keen to get revenge whatever it takes. My personal theory is the crow girl is the god of entertainment, and since aqua was already on the revenge path but now has dropped it she is intervening and and guiding ruby to the revenge path, i think shes pissed their dad has been snuffing out high end and high potential entertainers and wants someone to stop them. Ai was a prodigy and would have likely gone on to be one of the biggest stars of her generation, himikawas (step dad now confirmed) was an actor but wasn't very good and his mom was apparently pretty talented and i personally believe aqua and rubys dad played a hand in their deaths then we see the end credit girl with stars in her eyes being killed, and the stars in non main characters seem to indicate entertainers performing at their best so she was most likely also an entertainer. Crow girl is mad he keeps killing entertainers with potential thats her domain so she wants him stopped. Also the little detail when we get to rubys wish it jump cuts to crow girl smiling maybe she chose to grant that wish and aqua is going to be back on revenge time

THIS is the moment i have been waiting for ever since i binged the manga after S1. the irony that Aqua finally let his Dark Star fade and chose to live a normal life and IMMEDIATELY afterwards Ruby gains not only her own, but TWO Dark Stars (i always saw it as one for Ai and one for Amamiya Gorou, since Aqua only had one for Ai) is just incredible writing. The outro was dope it wasn't till this episode when it finally makes sense what it meant. It told Ruby's story for this season The whole time. This show is amazing every little part of it !!!!
If you pay close attention during the "Pop In 2" music video, you can tell by Ruby's eyes which scenes were filmed before and after Goro's body was found.
My theory: Aqua and Ruby's dad is a serial killer. His M.O. is to seduce and impregnate skilled, promising female artists and then kill them after they give birth. Now this begs the question, why? I think he is of the same mind as that one guy who thinks kids that have experienced trauma make for better entertainers, so the dad's goal is to create great artists. He's clearly a narcissist, as we see when he talks to Ai in the graveyard, so he combines his "superior" genes with those of his victims and then gives the children what he thinks is the best environment to foster their skills.
Things to note (no spoilers): - the other kid was a middle schooler during Ai's pregnancy and remember Ai was along 15-16 when she was pregnant - Ruby doesn't know Aqua is the doctor. Just like how she found out that her dad or *someone* planned and killed her mom (Ai) and the Doctor(Aqua) .... She believes that Aqua is also trying to find the person who killed them. Which is why Ruby wishes Aqua finds the killer

I think she just took what the girl said (2 sus guys near the hospital, someone murdered the doctor, then 1 of the 2 guys is the same that killed Ai then killed himself, so, 1 is still alive). Don't worry or hyper focus on the ending credit scene for now. The season ended on chapter 80 ending the private arc but the ending credit scene is chapter 109 and needs context that isn't explored yet.

There's a lot of cultural imagery going on that English-speakers aren't gonna pick up on, but it actually was alluded to in the first ep: Ruby and Aqua are coded after the sibling gods Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi and Ruby even bluffs in ep 1 about being Amaterasu. They were born out of the left and right eyes of their father Izanagi (note which eyes have stars for each sibling). They also had a third sibling, Susanoo (all these names should sound familiar from watching Naruto) who is the hero of his own story. Their mom also died and went to the underworld. The girl with the crows is a sign of the supernatural as crows were often servants of the gods.
Interestingly to how this story is gonna end, Amaterasu eventually grows angry at her brother and hides in a cave, and is pulled back out of the cave by other gods singing and dancing, which is celebrated as having happened in the region Ruby and Aqua were born in.
Akasaka the author seems to like to do this a lot; Kaguya-sama is also his story and its based on another folktale.

My personal theory is the crow girl is the god of entertainment, and since aqua was already on the revenge path but now has dropped it she is intervening and and guiding ruby to the revenge path, i think shes pissed their dad has been snuffing out high end and high potential entertainers and wants someone to stop them. Ai was a prodigy and would have likely gone on to be one of the biggest stars of her generation, himikawas (step dad now confirmed) was an actor but wasn't very good and his mom was apparently pretty talented and i personally believe aqua and rubys dad played a hand in their deaths then we see the end credit girl with stars in her eyes being killed, and the stars in non main characters seem to indicate entertainers performing at their best so she was most likely also an entertainer. Crow girl is mad he keeps killing entertainers with potential thats her domain so she wants him stopped. Also the little detail when we get to rubys wish it jump cuts to crow girl smiling maybe she chose to grant that wish and aqua is going to be back on revenge time
I don't know how you all assumed that Ruby would know about Aqua's past identity just form her interaction with the white hair girl. The latter gave nothing about that topic, they were talking about something completely different.

the irony that Aqua finally let his Dark Star fade and chose to live a normal life and IMMEDIATELY afterwards Ruby gains not only her own, but TWO Dark Stars (i always saw it as one for Ai and one for Amamiya Gorou, since Aqua only had one for Ai) is just incredible writing.

My theory: Aqua and Ruby's dad is a serial killer. His M.O. is to seduce and impregnate skilled, promising female artists and then kill them after they give birth. Now this begs the question, why? I think he is of the same mind as that one guy who thinks kids that have experienced trauma make for better entertainers, so the dad's goal is to create great artists. He's clearly a narcissist, as we see when he talks to Ai in the graveyard, so he combines his "superior" genes with those of his victims and then gives the children what he thinks is the best environment to foster their skills.

- Ruby doesn't know Aqua is the doctor. Just like how she found out that her dad or *someone* planned and killed her mom (Ai) and the Doctor(Aqua) .... She believes that Aqua is also trying to find the person who killed them. Which is why Ruby wishes Aqua finds the killer
There's a lot of context needed since that last part was pretty "came out of nowhere" stuff. (Basically that was an idol *and you yes you guessed it correctly)
also i want to add in japan middle school goes to grade 9 unlike in the USA where it stops at 8 so the "middle school kid" could easily be 15 and since ai gave birth at 16 its not a stretch to assume the middle schooler was the dad
