In my opinion, I think the reason they gave Ariel the baby hairs is to make her have a wet look to it. The first thing that came to my mind when I saw them was “oh! The hair is wet and is sticking to her face!” Or something? I think that was what they were going for. I think it looks pretty on her, I honestly really like the Ariel doll a lot. I’ve seen a lot of people hate on it, but I honestly think she’s beautiful!
I actually never considered that. They were probably going for a wet look for the whole doll, so maybe it was a misunderstanding of how the audience would interpret it.

I’m sorry if I offended you, and you have the right to your own interpretation as well. I was only saying what came to my mind. But you are right, we only really see this kind of style on POC dolls(and irl) so it can easily be interpreted in many different ways.
Ooooh. I didn't even consider that. I assumed the thing on her back was like the waves splashing on her. But it could also have been inspired by the shell in the Venus painting.
Fun fact: if you take Rapunzel and Pocahontas out of the box, unbind and wash their hair out, Rapunzel's hair is floor-length and Pocahontas' hair only goes down to about knee-length. 9:40 You said the part that NEEDED to be said out loud! The artist's conceptions are amazing! I'm embarrassed for Disney that they released the pin of the sketch. If it wasn't for that, we'd all think the artists were the problem. The physical dolls look like they spent as little money as possible in production to recreate the artist's conception because they just assumed Disney fans would buy them no matter what, based on previous Disney Designer Collection dolls. They were at The Disney Store Outlet for around $60. I got the final Art Deco Erté Tiana, the ONLY doll in the entire collection that I liked enough to actually purchase, for $45. They also had absolutely NO reason to repeat princesses. Don't do a 15 doll collection if you have to repeat characters. Again, though, Disney just thinks they can do whatever they want, and fans will just throw money at them.
Yeah, usually a bad doll isn't the designers fault. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people telling designers what they can and can not do for a bunch of different reasons. 😕
I'm a Mulan stan so I got the Mulan one for my Mulan collection and I absolutely love it I think she looks sensational ^__^ even trying to separate my personal bias towards her I think she's the best of the 15
I love this collection. I have most of it. I just need the last three. My thing is that I don’t want 20 Cinderella’s in the same blue dress. I like the reinterpretation. I want more of the princess in different outfits, that still fit their style.
i definitely think jasmin's doll was so beautiful, but my first guess was that she was elena of avalor. if no one told me it was jasmin i would've never guessed
Ariel is my favorite and the only one I bought, I really like the Greek theme it inspires. I didn't like the second one, I agree with you and she doesn't wear a purple dress at the end of the movie, her dress is sea blue.💖😉
As someone who is considering purchasing one of the collector dolls on my next upcoming visit to the parks, I needed this video honestly XD I have been pretty set on getting Aurora as she is my favorite (I’ll still get her regardless) but I also just needed to see the other dolls and know how they stack up against eachother.
I feel like I'm the only one who likes Rapunzel 🤣 I can understand how she looks like she's going to a child's birthday party or looks too Barbie-ish. But she actually makes me think of a debutante or Kentucky derby with the pretty flowers and hats. I honestly love her but I respect everyone's opinions 😊 PS. I just found your channel and I'm loving it ❤️
I think if they incorporated the sun symbols of her kingdom onto her dress and made the dress itself maybe more purple And had floating lantern designs or something like one of the other dresses had stain glass looking panels in the back rapnuzel could have had a lot of references to her drawings she did all over her tower room And her hair if braided giving the illusion of being longer like in the movie it would have been fine length wise This is coming from someone who adores rapnuzel but for $100+ dollars I think they could have got the theme down much more
You're not the only one. Rapunzel in this collection is my favorite as well. I may be old fashion but I love the puffy dress, the color palette, the dress design and everything on that doll :)
Love your channel I'm bingeing all your vids now✨ Thanks for this video I've just been a Barbie, Monster and Rainbow High collector. I never payed much attention to anything Disney especially the Hasbro Disney Princesses dolls - too scary looking for me.... but I just noticed the new playline Mattel Disney Princesses, such lovely faces. I've been hybridizing them with Barbie Made to Move bodies - So gorgeous! And these Disney Classic dolls are stunning so glad you shared your collection. Your #1 Tiana is perfection. Love the boy dolls too, I've been obsessed with hybridizing the unique fashionista Kens with Made to Move, Looks and BMR 1959 bodies. Anyway I look forward to your reviews and brand comparisons.
Thank you! I've always wanted to do headswaps with made to movie Barbies, but I'm always afraid I'll break them. 😆 I might have to watch some tutorials and give it a try.
I really like the Ariel coming out of the ocean doll because of all of her Grecian Poseidon references ❤ I have always loved Greek Mythology, the stories are interesting. Her headpiece references the messenger in Greek mythology, her shoes reference Poseidon
Snow White design was so unique I love her. Her cape is elegant and can be displayed differently by twisted it to the side of the doll and let the buttons unsnap to create another looks for her which look less like a clown and more like a queen lol By the way Love your honest review
Thank you! Yeah some of them seemed confusingly cheap for a $130 doll. But some of them were very nice. It's probably the least consistent doll series I have ever purchased. lol
I'll just go over the dolls I bought I got rapunzel on a black Friday sale and thinks she's kinda meh. I think think I paid full price I would be more disappointed (wish also I got her when she was for only 39.99 after black Friday) The first ariel doll I snatched for 120€ on ebay and am not really a fan of the shiny skin, but my mom mentioning that the doll and the thing on her back remind her of the painting of the Venus and now I can't unsee it. I still can't get over the headpiece tho. The other ariel I like way more. The lashes on one eye were a bit too long on my doll and I think the golden thing on her dress ended up looking kinda cheap in person. I bought the second Tiana and no complaints. I also bought Belle and really love the doll only the petals around the waist are kinda meh (I didn't buy her but does Moanq only for me look like Dolores from Encanto with the hairstyle and lengthy orange dress?)
Getting these dolls on sale is the way to go. I was determined to complete this set, so I bought them all full price like a fool. 🤣 I think the Moana doll looks like Moana, but yeah, the dress seems strange for her. I WISH they would have done Dolores. I was hoping the last 3 dolls were going to be the 3 sisters from Encanto. 😞 I'm hoping we'll get some collector Encanto dolls this year.
@@dollthighs yeah, it's also kinda sad that experimental projects like this one probably won't happen again. The girls from Encanto in general deserve at least one doll with a new outfit.
I loveeee the Pocahontas one (I guess I'm like one of the only people that liked her lol) Also Mulan is my favourite, she's impeccable to me! And Rapunzel's hair length is atrocious. These are VERY expensive dolls, an actually long hair is the very least they should've done for Rapunzel
Shouldn't have watched this, don't have any of these doll's but Tiana is still available and am so tempted to get her now 😭 Nice to see all the doll's in 1 video!
🤣🤣🤣 yes! The tiana was on sale last time I checked. I debated buying a second one to unbox. But there are too many new doll releases right now for me to be buying doubles or anything. 😅
Being the huge Little Mermaid fan that I am, I'll elaborate on the confusion. After Ursula dies and Ariel is given legs again by her father in an act of love, she rises out of the sea to greet Eric in what looks like a purple dress for the first frame. In the following frames it appears to be more of a softer blue hue, but Disney and fans settled on the majority of a purple consensus, which is why Disney has released her with a purple dress in toy lines. She does wear pink in the movie (to the dismay of many fans who don't like pink and red hair) for a much longer period when she is living in the palace. I personally like the look of her village dress (the blues) with her, I think it sets off her coloring best but gives a softer look to her.
My favorite is the 2nd Ariel. The least favorites are Moana and Pocahontas. I love those girls from the movies, but their dolls weren’t very appealing. I wish they included Princess Kida from Treasure Planet and Elsa and Anna from Frozen.
Same! I was disappointed that for the last 3 dolls they just redid 3 characters. I was honestly hoping they were going to be Maribelle, Louisa, and Isabela from Encanto. But they probably will never include those 3 in the Disney Princess line because Encanto is so successful as it's own.
Your idea for Aurora to be displayed 3/4 turned so we can see the best part of her dress is genius!!! Why the heck didn’t they think of that?! That not only would have been better for that reason- it would have also made a more interesting pose. I wish you were on the designing board! We need more interesting ideas like that ❤
It’s Mulan for me, although I agree about the hair. I like Cinderella too, wished her hair was a long and super curly ponytail to give her a more youthful vibe.
Hello. The " cardboard" across Moana's back is her Grandmother in her spirit form a sting or manta ray. Thank you for a very interesting video. Jane in New Zealand 🇬🇧🇳🇿
@@dollthighs Hello again. I thought you did a really great job trying to put a cohesive list together. It is never easy to do, it's like trying to rate your children isn't it 😉. Will subscribe now. Take care Jane in New Zealand 🇬🇧🇳🇿
For me, I think the best ones of the collection are Cinderella ( love how they gave her a pant suit but still retained her original ballgown silhouette) Merida (she looks like she's killing it at a Vivienne Westwood runway show) n Tiana (love love love how they stayed true to her era n gave her all the neat little details of fireflies n stars throughout her outfit). The worst ones are, hands-down, that horrible Briar Rose ( her outfit is just ugly n she looks like a generic blonde doll) n Rapunzel (she looks like she's on the worst dress list as a guest at a British royal wedding, n I agree 1000% that she should n always have the longest hair. Actually, they should've gave Rapunzel a 2nd doll wit her short brunette hair). Anyways, love ur channel, bro. Happy doll collecting. Cheers ✌🏽😎
Thank you! 🥰 also, I completely agree. I hoped that when they did the second dolls, they were going to redo some of the flops, but instead, they just remade 3 of the most popular characters. Classic disney. 🤷♂️
Merida is SO beautiful 😍 I love her Edit : although her poof ball hair on her head looks odd as in the movie she had volumous hair that was curly and poofy Edit2: I literally hate the bell one and she was my favorite princess growing up
@@dollthighs i watched Snow White last week. It's a beautifully made film to me. i love the lush artwork and the sweet songs. i think i can count on both hands the number of times i've seen it since childhood, but this time sparked something within me. i suddenly craved a complete Snow White collection: Snow White, seven dwarfs, Prince Florian and Queen Grimhilde. And for some reason, that's the only princess/movie that i want.
Oh no WONDER you ranked Aurora lower ! The secondary doll you showed looks almost borderline generic to me and I feel that's validated given its a much higher price range collector doll.
My issues and positives: Rapunzel: too childish and she does not wear big dresses but the colors are nice on her Moana: too simple and very plain but disney captured her culture very well. Pocahontas: too much going on, she would not wear her hair in braids but I like the two colored sleeves and her face mold. Aurora: My only issue are these arm jewelry but other than that I like the two color dress and art on it. Briar Rose: she does not look like the character, her face looks older but i like the shoes and flower petals of the dress. Ariel: A lot is happening but I can understand it because she is clearly inspired by birth of aphrodite and I love pearls on her. Ariel II: Her bang is on the other side but overall she is very pretty and there is a lot of things on her from the movie. Jasmine: I really do not understand the metalic feather on her and the hair style is kind of strange but I love the colors and her bag. Merida: Too much make up when it comes to her character but other than that they captured her very well. Belle: hair and earrings does not fit with the dress but I love the idea of her being a rose. The purse is beautiful. Snow White: I cannot understand the mermaid dress, the cape and the crown. It does not suit her personality. I love the make up, her hair and shoes. Mulan: Too much make up, she did not like it in the movie. I love her whole outfit. Cinderella: I do not like the pockets but the outfit is beautiful and so elegant just like her. Tiana: Strange face mold but she is so beautiful. The dress, hair and accessories are so her. Tiana II: I do not like stars on her face and color of her dress but I love glitter on her body and I love her tights with stars.
@@dollthighs honestly it's been so long, I know in the sequel I think she wears a pink dress at least . I know for sure she doesn't wear any purple I just have that vague memory of thinking "why would they pick a similar color to her hair" so I thought it was pink at some point
Jasmine looks like to me she had a giant scrunchie on her at first till I saw her closer and she looks to be more in a kimono esc dress It's odd to me that she isnt in her signature blue
I don't think that I would have bought all 15 dolls, but I would've bought multiple copies of the dolls I liked and had the second copies professionally re-dressed. They're not too many outfits that I actually like. I do like the faces on some of the dolls. Interestingly enough, if you look at the fashion doll world, there are some phenomenal designers who actually get it right. The scale would be better on the clothes, things that are supposed to drape would actually drape. I would get someone who designs clothes for Gene dolls to re-design clothes for the dolls.
Yeah, the outfits are all over the place with this set. That's not a bad idea. I just don't love the Princesses enough to invest any more money into them. I'll probably just resell most of them at some point.
I honestly think Disney missed the chance to cast a mermaid Ariel in this collection, after all they had already released a human version of her. And mermaid dolls are wonderful, an Ariel mermaid doll with different scales would be really cool.🐚
i am almost never satisfied with Cinderella and Aurora dolls. i think they look too much alike lately. i haven't been able to tell the two apart since the 90s. Aurora's second doll is brilliantly styled. It's a gorgeous doll, but it doesn't look or feel like Aurora. i feel like they just do whatever when it comes to those two princesses and wait to see what sticks.
Rapunzel looks very qenseñera ready Moana looks good but yea I think the ruffles are coming off a little Encanto imo Pocahontas I totally agree on.. The first Aurora doll is perfect....the second one looks very Briar rose goes to japan to me 1st Ariel is perfect to me, 2nd is just okay Jasmine goes to china?...Also Jas,TLM & Aurora are my favorite princesses and this Jasmine...is not her lol beautiful tho I hate merida but that doll is on point thoo I agree completely with you on Belle. Snow I didn't like at first but the more I looked at her the more I liked her design. Mulan is Perfect Cinderella..the outfit is beautiful but it doesn't really say Cinderella to me Tiana is beautiful 😍
Both Tiana dolls are gorgeous - my only criticism is that the stars on the second doll's tights are too girlish for such a sophisticated outfit. I have to say I would rank the Aurora dolls much higher - the first one is possibly my favourite of the whole collection. I understand your criticism of the Briar Rose doll in so much as it doesn't really scream "Aurora", but I love it anyway.

Great review 😀❤
Thank you! 😊
At first I thought that Rapunzel was made by Hasbro
HAHAHA drag her. 🤣
Ariel is not my favorite either. Cinderella was my favorite for a long time.
i think i have three favorites now:
• Snow White
• Aurora
• Cinderella
All solid choices. I don't care for the movie Snow White but I usually love the snow white dolls.
Yeah the second Arora is rough. 😆
My issues and positives:
Rapunzel: too childish and she does not wear big dresses but the colors are nice on her
Moana: too simple and very plain but disney captured her culture very well.
I thought the little mermaid Ariel wore a pink dress at the end
Minus her white wedding dress
I thought so too. 🤔
@@dollthighs honestly it's been so long, I know in the sequel I think she wears a pink dress at least .
I know for sure she doesn't wear any purple
I just have that vague memory of thinking "why would they pick a similar color to her hair" so I thought it was pink at some point
Jasmine looks like to me she had a giant scrunchie on her at first till I saw her closer and she looks to be more in a kimono esc dress
It's odd to me that she isnt in her signature blue
Yeah, the jasmin doesn't look enough like jasmin for me personally.
13:00 that’s definitely Meghan trainer
Totally agree. I actually have no mermaid versions of Ariel. 🤣
I collect Disney dolls too
Moana s dress is more South American than an islander style.
i am almost never satisfied with Cinderella and Aurora dolls. i think they look too much alike lately.
i haven't been able to tell the two apart since the 90s.
Aurora's second doll is brilliantly styled. It's a gorgeous doll, but it doesn't look or feel like Aurora.
i feel like they just do whatever when it comes to those two princesses and wait to see what sticks.
Yeah I agree. I think both tend to be pretty boring. But I did like Cindy this time.
loovveeee ittt 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🩷
Rapunzel looks very qenseñera ready
Moana looks good but yea I think the ruffles are coming off a little Encanto imo
Pocahontas I totally agree on..
The first Aurora doll is perfect....the second one looks very Briar rose goes to japan to me
1st Ariel is perfect to me, 2nd is just okay
Jasmine goes to china?...Also Jas,TLM & Aurora are my favorite princesses and this Jasmine...is not her lol beautiful tho
I hate merida but that doll is on point thoo
I agree completely with you on Belle.
Snow I didn't like at first but the more I looked at her the more I liked her design.
Mulan is Perfect
Cinderella..the outfit is beautiful but it doesn't really say Cinderella to me
Tiana is beautiful 😍
Lol, I agree. 😆 🤣
I feel like Rapunzel LE dolls never look good. I think it’s bc of the face mold/CGI look. Which sucks bc Rapunzel is one of my fav princesses.
Yeah, the face mold is usually not very good. There's something about her eyes they can't seem to get right.
Turn Aurora sideways in the box.
That's a great idea!
dude, you have a nice collection, but why do you spend that money on dolls of princesses you dont like, you dont remember the movie??! just asking...
🤷♂️
the one I actually didnt like was snow white
Lol, that's fair. She's got a lot going on. I just love the drama.
Moana's dress looks more Caribbean than from her culture.
Yeah its a little confusing.
In my humble opinion the Cinderella doll is giving me more wealthy Karen vibes so more like evil stepmother and that's not her character at all
🤣🤣🤣 honestly, that's so true, and that's probably why I liked her so much. I'm usually more of a disney villain person.
@@dollthighs so am I maleficent is the goat (the original)
#I love your name 😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Rephuez 'shair short
Lol I know, right?
You spent a lot of money 🤑 but, you don't sound like you like them that much 😂 maybe you should sell the ones you don't enjoy?
