A vascular surgeon i work with (who is also a musician) had 'Lochloosa' playing during a case. I walked into the room and was instantly hooked to this man's wonderful voice. I really like his look, bad dentition and all, because it adds to the absolute genuineness (sp) of who he is. He has become more produced, as they say, but he still touches my soul. My son and I went to see him in LA, and he did a fab encore of Lochloosa. So grateful, Dr. Canty!!! Thank you for exposing me me to this wonderful talent in this world.

Saw Mofro (before they bacame JJ Grey and Mofro) in 2001 in a small bar in Blacksburg,VA. There may have been 30 people in the entire bar. I actually got to sit at the bar with JJ and drink a beer. Nicest guy you'd ever want to meet. I was in the bar listening and could not believe it wasn't packed with people. Best musician I've heard in a long time.

He is the real deal, and that soulful funkfilled sound is not only refreshing, it is also retro in the best of ways.
