You did a little mistake, it wasn't Yuki who made Akane be hated, it was the show itself, Yuki and Akane made up on the spot, but the internet didn't forgive her
The thing many seem to misunderstand about Yuki is that she isn't a villian, she's just cocky. She genuinely cares about Akane but she's a competitive girl. This is the moment she was waiting for and she's not giving it to anyone else. Her declaration after she made Akane's nails wasn't hate but confidence: "If you want the spotlight come and snatch it from my hands, because I'm not giving it to you". She also couldn't defend Akane on media because of the NDA the participants signed, any reconciliation and solution had to be on camera, and because Akane is inexperienced with the field and the constant harrass it never crossed her mind.

the pure despair as you see her feet leave the bridge and starts plummeting (because she does, she wasn't just prepared, if you slow down and look she literally jumped off the bridge at that moment) and then that overwhelming wave of relief as Aqua pulls her back actually made me light headed and i was about to pass out, she shear amount of fear and relief was the only reason i didn't cry, because i couldn't as i was watching this happen, i mean this shit happens all the time but while your watching this episode your in this constant state of "how far are they going to go?" and you constantly wait for them to pull their punches because your like "this is an anime, surely they aren't going to just give us the unfiltered result" and then they just kept going, it was a very intense episode
even as a manga reader i still got fked up by how amazing this episode was. Did the manga and the topic they were focusing on justice and did it sincerely with no beating around the bush. I wish this was mainstream cos everyone needs to be watching this show or at the very least this episode cos even as a standalone episode it hits hard
as a manga reader hearing the abusive panels while seeing them added a whole other level of engagement. I couldn't help but properly empathize with Akane's situation
it really showed how the fans and antis try to salvage, in the side of the fans and condemn, in the side of the antis, the talent.. it also shows how possessive these individuals are.. its as if they "own" the person as a merchandise, pet or thing.. not truly understanding how it affects the person as a whole.. its a sick culture and Oshi No Ko portrayed it.. this is evident worldwide.. especially a lot of talents are in this business.. thank you for pointing it out..
Coming from someone who has dealt with cyber and social bullying, this episode is definitely showing it on a ground level. I remember years ago when I was part of an acting group, my teacher was getting ready to be part of a radio show and she decided to have a lesson dedicated to social abuse In case she got looked at in a bad way. It's definitely important to keep yourself mentally stable, and this episode really proves Huawei is bad to have. Everything Mentally crashing without room to except who you are. My hope is that the next episode will show a healthy way to combat situations like this.
This episode also hits harder also because of the more light hearted episodes that came before. Went from last episode with a dancing bird man in a speedo then after with depression from social media. Goes to show you again how this series can catch you off guard sometimes episode to episode. So the timing of another episode dark like episode 1 was perfect to have mid-season.
I went through similar strands of harassment and still do, for 3 years. (Stalking, Slander, Gaslighting, Rumor spreading and such.) So the episode left me pretty bummed out for awhile given how completely accurate it was. I think this is something that needs to exist and teach people about how this sort of thing affects people.
Aka put those chapter 22-25 a essentially the month after Hana committed suicide in 2020. This was all done on purpose, but Aka is able to seamlessly put in tragic events like into the plot and make the reader really think about their own behaviors.
As someone being falsely accuse online and misunderstood in discord in a server and kicked out targeted at me…Akane felt too real what it felt just becuz of one mistake (love this series soo much)
I think something that isn't mentioned or discussed as much in this episode was Kana's insight into apologizing on the Internet. I in the past unfortunately got into a situation online where I apologized and kept apologizing genuinely, but it only made things worse, and it took a big toll on my mental health. Most people from a young age are told to apologize for their actions and that it's the right thing to do, but it can be a death sentence on the Internet. Instead of it being taken as regretting an action and wishing to do better, an apology is taken as a sign of weakness, as vindication, and gives others a reason to go, "Oh so you DID do this thing, now we for sure have a good reason to hate you for it", and cause hate to get worse, not better. People feel so safe behind their screens to say things that they would never say to someone in real life, because the screen creates a mask others can't see "them" through. It creates a sense of detachment, because you don't know this person and can't see how it effects them. It's awful.
Akane didn't deserve any of that shit man. I hate Twitter, damn... Also, the amazing thing with Oshi no Ko is that every character feels *real*. Ai's death felt like watching an actual corpse, Akane actually seemed helpless and desperate, and other characters just have such an insanely realistic personality. The music was fucking amazing, and some mild spoilers here if you haven't seen it: During the scene where Aqua mentioned that this was going to go badly online, the music is silent. There is nothing but his voice. There are no voices, the tweets are just shown on the screen, and suddenly it fades to black. Akane's voice mimics exactly how Aqua had the stage set for him. Akane apologises. This time, the voices kick in, as they are replying directly to her - they are targetted. As it happens, the music ramps up, it has clunky chords, a very powerful low end and almost a super bass to set the audience on edge. Then we cut to when MEM said about apologising, and the audio picks up more. We get a disjunct and dissonant melody, with that same powerful super bass that increases volume and instead of chords - there are reversed samples that are completely out of key. It relates to the out of control feeling that Akane has. As MEM's speech goes on, we ditch the lower end samples for the most part, and switch to higher pitched ones that stand out more from the background, these are more noticable for the audience, so it creates a more chaotic atmosphere. This also brings in some percussion, which I couldn't quite identify but it sounds like a digital sample of a cowbell that's been pitched down and reverbed. For the ending of just the first part, the music comes to a resolution, everything raises volume, we bring back the lower pitched samples and increase the speed of the percussion. Until finally, Akane goes to sleep. With this, everything stops. We get a single note that falls almost into key, but is then resolved with a half step down, followed by another note even further down, almost unnoticeable. She tells herself it'll be over in the morning, then we bring in the piano, some higher pitched notes that begin with a major tonality with a rising pitch, but quickly switch to minor, descending scale. On the final note, Akane wakes up, and we begin the cycle all over again - with the piano now contributing to the sense of uneasiness, especially during the breakfast and toilet scene. For the sake of time, I won't speak about the middle section, but here's the ending. When Akane falls to her knees on the bridge, we get a very high pitched resolving note. This is almost angelic, like a light calling to you - or the feeling of seeing a friend for the first time in years. But this has sinister undertones, as it's contrasted with the heavy wind and rain. Akane forces the sinister side out, the rain and wind fade from the soundtrack, as the visuals show that there are simply lights running towards and away. It's clear to the audience that these are cars but to the character, it seems like an escape. She's at the end of her rope, tired, mentally worn out and ready to leave. She's accepted that these lights are good and that they will bring peace along with an end to her suffering. Finally, we cut back to her in the rain, on top of the railing. Watch her facial expression blend from the scene at 22:57 and 22:58 and pay attention to the sound design, we hear that angelic tone disappear and we're suddenly forced back to reality, the rain and wind immediately put straight back into our faces. She falls, the ending theme starts playing - almost signifying her end with the conclusion of the episode. Finally, Aqua talks just as the band enters. The sound in every episode has been like this so far, and I'm in love with it. I love this show so much, I feel like it's just gonna get more depressing and I am ALL for it.
This episode really broke my heart... As someone who started uploading videos to UA-cam as a hobby at 13, I understand how much negative comments can have on someone's mental health, especially as a teenager. Maybe I'm an alien trying to act in internet the same as real life. I'm often worried to leave a comment, even constructive criticism out of fear of hurting whoever sees it. In general, I have learned to consider the feelings of others, even at the faceless monster called a monster. No one is perfect, and if someone is taking out their anger on strangers either on internet or in real life, they better see a therapist. 🙃 #akanedeservesbetter
We've seen this in effect with the controversy over the Hogwarts game, there were two Vtubers who got horribly harassed, both stopped streaming for a time and one of them actually graduated because of the harassment
It leaves a bad taste in my mouth when people wants you to be aware that the creator of the lore is hurting people and putting them into more dangerous situations and the hate commenter for those vtubers are making their intentions more sinister. Death threats and brand assassination along with verbal abuse via social media. This now made those who genuinely want people to be aware as hate commenters that only bully people to listen to their agenda.
Oshi no ko really shows how internet culture/ community as a whole cause more harm as the entertainment industries/ companies they’re against but worse effect. With the rise of twitter and the UA-cam algorithm + UA-cam commentators and drama channels like Reviewtechusa, someordinarygamers, hero hei, Yongyea, Bellular news and moist critical to some extent, etc. it’s a clear sign that cause more problems ; if someone make a minor mistake or any mistake in general, they get targeted by a mob of angry users without understanding the context of the situation
I think that anonymous people online can be hateful towards other or even hurtful. Part of me thinks well its how each person adapts to how each generation ends up masking or presenting themselves on media. Would love to see more topics like this being discussed in anime, cartoons, reality tv shows, and other forms of entertainment.
Anime America opened my eyes to how.... disgustingly horrible the pop culture scene in Japan is; like, the actors and idols cannot have a life- a voice actor even had to apologize for having a kid. that is just messed up
We should all work together to stop this from ever happening again we need to stop the people online from harassing other people we are better than this. Come on everyone let’s stop this behavior from happening ever again.
Also parents should not let their kids be on the internet, until they are 13 years old. Because its getting very dangerous lately. "Last month twitter account got hacked which i never used so i had to close it and change password of everything, and enable 2auth"
I find her situation particularly unsettling because she likely relies on external validation to feel complete. She knows she shouldn't ego surf but like how we all instinctively take our phones everywhere, it can't stop. Akane truly best girl.
I think some context of this is that in the manga some translators made some jokes changing the names of the haters. Making them ridiculous, or meming with them. (Idk japanese but i really doubt those names were on the original xd)
All of this for a little scratch on a dating show. I can't imagine what figures with Dream levels of controversy gotta endure on a daily basis. Being famous is not for the weak
This was probley one of the best episodes of anime iv seen the set up with the conversations about realitly tv not allowing you to hide behind the shield lies and the idea of ego surfing being brought up prior just to lead into everything and the comments chosen and how the poped on screen felt so real in such a sad way that made me just angry that people do this it was a great episode and countiues to show that their is nothing darker then reality and thats what this show shows reality
7:00 - 7:12 what you said here is exactly one of the comment I've seen in the page where I watch this episode... It's like telling people to give up their dreams just 'cause they can't take it
Reality shows are more show than reality. They exist for one reason, and it's not to entertain anyone. It's to make money. More viewers means higher ad revenue. The producers didn't create the situation, but they didn't show the truth, and when the hate on Akane got to the point that she wanted to die, they did nothing. Until Aqua forced their hand.
2:40 I don’t think that’s how that went down. I thought she just said she’s okay, and noticed Akane was more hurt from the mistake then she was physically. As for the warning, severs shows that cover this topic will have a warning at the start of the episode. They probably put it at the end to not spoil how dark the episode would be, but it also doesn’t brace those that may be suffering from depression.
This episode was just too real, People on twitter are actually like this as they are behind a keyboard or a screen so they will say whatever they want and not care what it does, Akane made one mistake an OMG the Storm that came. I am a toy reviewer and I know what it is like to get abuse, Luckily I am thick Skinned so I just ignore them or report them if they cross the line.
I now realize I think this is a spoiler Whenever a petal or flower is shown death is near Now I'm terrified whenever I see a petal or flower in the Oshi no Ko universe lol
This is fun fact and spoiler they are also playing with manga and anime episode, Anime= in previous episode kana just join b komachi Previous chapter = kana just left b komachi Current episode = Aqua just save akane Latest chapter = Aqua just about to fight Akane There are some others too
This episode was the first time I've been at the edge of my chair. Even though I've head a lot that Akane is an important figure in the manga. Still knowing that and how much time spendt on the last scene with her "last" thoughts. I were really begining to belive that the production chose to write Akane out of the anime. To really stir things up. Fortunately they didn't. Of cause Aquamarine comes to save the day 'cause he's the MC, but I don't know why, I actually wanted to see someone else safe Akane - maybe one of the others from that romance show she participated in (What I saw they did actually cared about Akane).
I love this akane because she just as sweet as cinnamon roll and hard worker I don't hate her but in the future Spoiler alert She becomes such a simp and typical yandere girl
@@pettanslayer69 She is damaged for life. No wonder. I've known one IRL, and that person were also scared. Nothing you could do as a friend 'cause he/she were so depressed to the core of the soul.
Once again another character that has something relatable. Something somewhat like this happened to me, but it wasn't actually anything big, just about 120 people on a Discord server (5 or more of which, were in the same school as me), and over a semi-racist meme.
Do you have any way to avoid copyright issues like here to use the clips from the anime? ive made a video like this and it got blocked straight up, was there something i was doing wrong or its just something that happens oftenly?
When I made a post on a FB Group for a UA-cam channel, and I made a suggestion on what video to make next, many people responded as if I didn’t know that they already made such videos but it wasn’t what I was talking about. Some shared links of videos in the comments what they thought I meant but I try to be clear that I did watch them already, but I kept receiving comments like I was dumb and not a true fan. But while I saw how they were coming at me, I didn’t feel necessarily attacked or belittled. On my end, I was the one that was looking at the comments like they were dumb for not understanding what I meant. I didn’t apologize or take the post down. I just thought they were the idiots and just left it alone. Edit: But I understand that cyber bullying is a real thing and can happen to anyone for whatever reason. Some can rise above it, while others hit as bad as getting hit with a deadly weapon laced with poison.
I would stop the person, just talk to them, have a drink with a meal because what I would do is have a tab, write down the number & say "Hey! Before you die let me know if you want to pay me back in full alright? But it has to be on the dot."
This episode made me feel sad, angry, scared, worried, and helpless to the point where Wholesome Anime and Power Metal aka 2 of my biggest coping mechanisms weren't doing it for me for a good 4 hours afterwards
I know it's for the rating but it's still make me angry toward the producer and the editor of that show they could cut just that part but no they put it in for the rating and Akane is the one who got the hate because of that one little error
Im sorry but: "Death threats." *happy music* I cant take the video seriously 😂 Also who would Yuki be forcing Akane to apologize to for the scratch if the cameras cut as soon as the incident occurred? Sure she might be a little sus but at the moment she seems genuine for how she treated akane, just as competition and not someone to ruin. (unless its revealed in the next episodes) Yuki also didn't make a post to stop the hate train so that's definitely weird, but could also be that she just hasn't seen any of it because she's busy? But 9/10 idols and priority actors egosurf apparently so she had a very high chance of seeing it and saying nothing.
You’ll never stop trolls from being trolls. The only way to prevent suicide is to grow thicker skin. Or be deleted. That’s the way of the world. You can’t be weak-minded. And you cant ultimately control people. It’s useless to get worked up over something you cannot control.

The lie of ego searching and the truth of it being such a double-edged sword, the lie of reality shows and the truth nature of people within those shows.
the pure despair as you see her feet leave the bridge and starts plummeting (because she does, she wasn't just prepared, if you slow down and look she literally jumped off the bridge at that moment) and then that overwhelming wave of relief as Aqua pulls her back actually made me light headed and i was about to pass out, she shear amount of fear and relief was the only reason i didn't cry, because i couldn't as i was watching this happen, i mean this shit happens all the time but while your watching this episode your in this constant state of "how far are they going to go?" and you constantly wait for them to pull their punches because your like "this is an anime, surely they aren't going to just give us the unfiltered result" and then they just kept going, it was a very intense episode
even as a manga reader i still got fked up by how amazing this episode was. Did the manga and the topic they were focusing on justice and did it sincerely with no beating around the bush. I wish this was mainstream cos everyone needs to be watching this show or at the very least this episode cos even as a standalone episode it hits hard
Oshi no ko anime is mainstream what
as a manga reader hearing the abusive panels while seeing them added a whole other level of engagement. I couldn't help but properly empathize with Akane's situation
It covered cancel culture so well.
Truly did! Couldn’t keep my eyes off it
Very true! Cancel culture is cyber bullying. I’m glad this episode shed light on the problems social media and it’s devastating impacts.
it really showed how the fans and antis try to salvage, in the side of the fans and condemn, in the side of the antis, the talent.. it also shows how possessive these individuals are.. its as if they "own" the person as a merchandise, pet or thing.. not truly understanding how it affects the person as a whole.. its a sick culture and Oshi No Ko portrayed it.. this is evident worldwide.. especially a lot of talents are in this business.. thank you for pointing it out..
Huawei?
This episode also hits harder also because of the more light hearted episodes that came before. Went from last episode with a dancing bird man in a speedo then after with depression from social media. Goes to show you again how this series can catch you off guard sometimes episode to episode. So the timing of another episode dark like episode 1 was perfect to have mid-season.
I also feel real bad for the young Star Wars actors who got so much undeserved online backlash. Toxic fandom sucks.
Yup it also showed how horrible society can be nowadays
Yeah! You see some horrible stuff around
The music was fucking amazing, and some mild spoilers here if you haven't seen it:
During the scene where Aqua mentioned that this was going to go badly online, the music is silent.
All I can say about the episode is:
"It was perfect, perfect everything, down to last minute details"
I love this series and im thrilled its getting the recognotion it deserves, you rock man!😊😊🎉🎉
It’s been a really great series so far
I find her situation particularly unsettling because she likely relies on external validation to feel complete. She knows she shouldn't ego surf but like how we all instinctively take our phones everywhere, it can't stop. Akane truly best girl.
Everybody gangsta until PotatoInMyAss364 tells you to commit unalive
Worst day of my alive
I think some context of this is that in the manga some translators made some jokes changing the names of the haters. Making them ridiculous, or meming with them. (Idk japanese but i really doubt those names were on the original xd)
I just want to give Akane a hug!
The scene where she vomits broke my heart. 💔
Not mention Akane is only 16...
She is more vulnerable than adults who get used to harsh comments.
Its so real it grips me with true fear, makes my skin crawl, so they succesed in the realism regard...😢😢
No one signs up to be told to hurt themselves.
This episode was just too real, People on twitter are actually like this as they are behind a keyboard or a screen so they will say whatever they want and not care what it does, Akane made one mistake an OMG the Storm that came.
I am a toy reviewer and I know what it is like to get abuse, Luckily I am thick Skinned so I just ignore them or report them if they cross the line.
memcho: "if you apologize your gonna get harassed"
akane 5 seconds later: "hmmm... i feel like apologizing today."
I'm glad they touched on subject like this.
An introvert trying to live the life of an extrovert. Heartbreaking indeed
The train of oshi no ko isn't stopping yet
I now realize I think this is a spoiler
Whenever a petal or flower is shown death is near
Now I'm terrified whenever I see a petal or flower in the Oshi no Ko universe lol
This is fun fact and spoiler
they are also playing with manga and anime episode,
Anime= in previous episode kana just join b komachi
Previous chapter = kana just left b komachi
Current episode = Aqua just save akane
Latest chapter = Aqua just about to fight Akane
There are some others too
You forgot to mention the appearance of sarina (Ruby) mother
This episode was the first time I've been at the edge of my chair. Even though I've head a lot that Akane is an important figure in the manga. Still knowing that and how much time spendt on the last scene with her "last" thoughts. I were really begining to belive that the production chose to write Akane out of the anime. To really stir things up. Fortunately they didn't.
Of cause Aquamarine comes to save the day 'cause he's the MC, but I don't know why, I actually wanted to see someone else safe Akane - maybe one of the others from that romance show she participated in (What I saw they did actually cared about Akane).
I love this akane because she just as sweet as cinnamon roll and hard worker
I don't hate her but in the future
Spoiler alert
She becomes such a simp and typical yandere girl
@@pettanslayer69 She is damaged for life. No wonder.
I've known one IRL, and that person were also scared. Nothing you could do as a friend 'cause he/she were so depressed to the core of the soul.
People in the internet stay in the internet so much they forget that the profile they saying bad thing at was a human behind the screen
the human mind is incredibly resilient yet surprisingly delicate.
When it comes to disrespectful and negative comments I Ban the Users and delete there comments
Episode 1 and ep 6 are truly the darkest episodes in the show. Episode 6's cyberbullying reminded me so much of Perfect Blue and its main character
Perfect blue is like Ai hoshino
I know it wasn't the purpose but " its not hard being a dick " made me laught LOL
Bye thats my cue 😂
Thought the vid needed that “real” statement 🤣
Once again another character that has something relatable.
Something somewhat like this happened to me, but it wasn't actually anything big, just about 120 people on a Discord server (5 or more of which, were in the same school as me), and over a semi-racist meme.
This was tough to watch for sure but it does tell the truth.
There is a difference between objective criticism and blatant insults. I have seen alot of people who does not know the difference.
Akane needed Hiro from Inuyashiki.
it feels real, because it is real. this whole arc was based on a real life case.
truly an internet moment
it was not based on a real event. The event happened around the same time that chapter came out.
This episode made me feel sad, angry, scared, worried, and helpless to the point where Wholesome Anime and Power Metal aka 2 of my biggest coping mechanisms weren't doing it for me for a good 4 hours afterwards
Every keyboard warrior need to watch this eposide
I know it's for the rating but it's still make me angry toward the producer and the editor of that show they could cut just that part but no they put it in for the rating and Akane is the one who got the hate because of that one little error
Im sorry but:
"Death threats." *happy music*
I cant take the video seriously 😂
Also who would Yuki be forcing Akane to apologize to for the scratch if the cameras cut as soon as the incident occurred? Sure she might be a little sus but at the moment she seems genuine for how she treated akane, just as competition and not someone to ruin. (unless its revealed in the next episodes)
Yuki also didn't make a post to stop the hate train so that's definitely weird, but could also be that she just hasn't seen any of it because she's busy? But 9/10 idols and priority actors egosurf apparently so she had a very high chance of seeing it and saying nothing.
Akane best gurl
as for other country's reach out to the ppl in your country.
Could you do the hidden anime review show called Dragon Quest Dai
You’ll never stop trolls from being trolls. The only way to prevent suicide is to grow thicker skin. Or be deleted. That’s the way of the world. You can’t be weak-minded. And you cant ultimately control people. It’s useless to get worked up over something you cannot control.
We’re all human and have our own tolerance for how much we can each take though. Some days a comment will hit harder when another day you won’t even be phased by it.
@@414Anime true. But asking trolls who do not care what you think of them to “not be assholes” will do absolutely nothing. In fact, they’ll laugh in your face that you get mad about stuff and have no avenue to properly direct that anger.
Just better to have no reaction at all. That’s how you beat trolls. People “not being assholes” is a pointless endeavor. It will never happen.
@@aintthatapotofeffluck8926 that’s a great idea in a perfect world. But the reality is that people are people. What you said is in fact true, but you are very different from the person sitting across the room. We see evidence of that every day. It’s not just about trolls online.. it’s about the people you work with/for, about the family you grow up in, and much more. There are so many factors to why a person is more susceptible to things. There is no cure all pill of “grow thicker skin” or “have no reaction”. Unfortunate but true
Yeah no, that's not how it works at all. Besides from what I'm assuming, you growing a thicker skin also makes you sound like an emotionless unlikable person, which is what I've got from your comment.
@@parable8711 and telling trolls not to be trolls works? Lmao don’t be delusional. They’ll laugh in your face like in doing now. Convince me I’m doing wrong like you seem to think you can do. 🤣
Grow thicker skin. You’ll never be able to change other people. But you can change yourself to not be affected by such things.
Or get depressed and die off. Lol. I know what I’m choosing.
man i wood never say bad shit to people what the point and man you got bad shit said to you i wood of never thought you wood get that kind of things said to you. but any way i wood love to get to know you see up beat
i honestly should not had read the manga after ep 1, right now i can't enjoy any ep of oshi no ko with it weight
example would be this new ep. I saw it before, i can't feel her paint like how i did when i fist read this in the manga
Thats the curse of being a manga reader :D. For me i have love evrey single episode (manga reader)
better then Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood its overrated
why do people do tell you to die you don't do anything bad you just gives out opinions and anime recomendtations
I just care about Akane ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
