I have an XM2 still working. Yeah quality is amazing. only issue was when I had xm1 with the hinge that they promptly replaced. These new ones should last years. Worth it.

How long do they last on a single charge? Mine abour 24 hrs.
I bought them on the day they were released and now I use them more for gaming headphones than gaming headphones because the noise canceling effect is so great.

Be careful: You can't FOLD these headphones like you could with the previous ones. For me, this is a deal breaker.
That’s a deal breaker for everyone
Its fine for me, just cause there were issues in xm4 foldable hinges being broken from normal use or they were more prone to break as reported by many users, I guess they removed it for that main reason. It takes a bit more space but still can be used for travel.
That doesn’t matter to me at all

Using an XB900N for a year! Beast of a battery and amazing sound. Had ordered an XM4 but had to return it once I found out that the Surround feature was removed on the Headphones app for that model. That one feature makes huge difference for truly immersive music in my XB900Ns! Wouldn't sacrifice that feature for a superior model. No way!

why would you buy XM5 when you already have the XM4
I mean it's not that big of an upgrade for the price you pay when you already have an XM4

I would suggest waiting for XM6 or 7 atleast then you would feel like it's a big upgrade
I bought the XM4 last November and I love them. I have the in-ear XM3 since 2019/20 and love them too.
I bought the xm4's last year and I'm pretty sure I'm keeping them. The improvements of the xm5 aren't enough to justify the price and I also prefer the design of the xm4. I hope the xm6 will be a bigger upgrade than this.
I have the 3 and never really upgraded to the 4 because the 3 was so good and I don’t think I’ll upgrade to this. Maybe for the 6 but these Sony headphones are sooo good!!!!

@@Sayject i was also comparing the xm3's to the xm4's but the price difference was so small that I taught why not get the newest ones. If I didn't have the xm4's already I would probably buy the xm5's for the same reason but they're just not worth the upgrade

Love the new design but a non folding design makes travel bulkier.
I have had XM3s for 3 years and absolutely love them. I bought the WHXM4 for the gym few months ago. Looks like its time to upgrade the XM3s. Only downside I found in XM3 was the call quality isn’t as good as the XM4 but the noise cancelling was absolutely amazing.
I don't use my XM4's for the gym cause I heard they're not water resistant so sweat might be an issue. Have you had any problems with this having used them for the gym?
@@cameronwright6632 XM4 model that I have are the in-ear ones and they are sweat/water resistant. I actually bought the in-ear ones just for the gym and/or rainy days and have no issues whatsoever.
The XM3s that I have are overhead and those I have never used at the gym because I am afraid they might get damaged. I have seen people use the XM3/4 overhead versions at the gym, but personally I wouldn’t do that because the ear cushions might start smelling or start to crack due to the sweat. That’s why I bought the in-ear ones.

@@mikelisteral7863 I agree. I cannot use Airpod Pros and also tried Bose NC700 but both gave me major headaches, so I stopped using them. But Sonys have been fine so far.
@@i.am.noah. ah fair enough that's smart. I personally use airpods Pro for the gym and even though the ANC is good on those it could still be better for the gym. I think making the next XM's over-ears water resistant would be a massive upgrade.

These are travel headphones, the fact that the headphones no longer fold into a more compact shape is such a huge deal breaker. There's no good reason to take such a good feature away. Also, the ear cups no longer fold flat whenever it rests around your neck, it folds outwards instead with the ear cups exposed. I like the new sleek look but they took away what made it practical for traveling.
This is the best explanation as to why it will FLOP.
I totally agree with you BUT saying “there’s no good reason” isn’t quite true because the most common point of failure on the XM4 and before was the fold hinges breaking
@@Yxorm_com seems like a manufacturing defect to me because I've had the XM3s for a couple of years and I've never had any issues with the hinges. The faux leather needs replacement but nothing out of the ordinary.
@@Yxorm_com I have the XM2 and have never broken. So, they could make a durable foldable pair. With Bluetooth and iPhone I don’t need anything else, since I can only use AAC.

The only con is,It dont fold like XM4's...But that also means less moving parts and higher durability.

Whatever innovations Sony comes up with, I just WISH they would give us an app for Windows & Mac OS, so that we can enjoy the same features & customization that we get from the Headphones app on mobile devices. I don't care about how many more microphones or drivers you can squeeze into a pair of headphones at this point, I just want my XM3s and XM4s' features to be easily accessed on my PC.

I am very satisfied with my IER-M9 and the noise isolation capability of them. And because they are as close to perfection as it is possible right now, there won't be any upgrade to them soon, so im looking forward to keep them for more years coming

Yeah, I recently got the XM3, when they became cheap on sale just before the XM4's came out, and I didnt think there would be much difference, now I wish I got the XM4's, but I might just wait for the XM5's drop in price.
One suprising use I have for them is when I have a migraine, I wear them without any sound playing to cancel out surrounding sounds, and it is a bliss.
I've seen the review, and design wise, I think this is a step backward. Bigger and bulkier, and you cannot fold it. I'll stick to my XM3

I've been on board with XM3s since their initial release and still using them to this day. All the feedback I've heard so far on early reviews (for the XM5s) has been positive.
At this point I've placed the preorder and I'm on board for the 5/20 release. My hope in the near future is if Sony adds an update to either/both the PS5 and the XM5s to allow them to play nice with each other.
If they can do that, they'll be my go to option for PS5 gaming.

I could probably go a full page on my thoughts, but this is a rundown. ANC and Sound quality are great, only arguably beaten by the Airpods Max which are 100$ more.
Yes they do lose the hinges to bend and make the headset compact for storage... but honestly I never really needed it. Anytime I'm at an airport the headset would be on my neck anyways. For plane rides the ANC is perfect for canceling out the plane noises during flight. Honestly I've never used the carrying case.
YMMV of course, but that little detail was the only negative thing I heard, which as far as I'm concerned is a non issue.

These headphones are the best i have had mines for around 2 months and they are fucken amazing the noise canceling is stellar and the music playback is wonderful depending on what is playing but you can tweak the equalizer so far i love my blue pair they are my go to for music listening

Why? There probably very similar to the 4's sound and cancellation wise, and now they cant fold to pack small which is the whole reason you would buy travel headphones. They've created headphones for a market they no longer compete in
@@MGMutt they sound cleaner because they toned back on the bass to widen up the mids and Highs. They're also even more comfortable with this new design with better mic quality for phone calls. The noise canceling has also gotten better as well.

@@MGMutt seriously? You are asking how they are different despite the multiple videos clearly outlining the numerous changes 🤦🤦🤦🤦. The XM4s were not very different from the XM3s. These are definitely different by comparison. Design, build, and most importantly the internal specs are all fairly different.
And your main issue is they don't fold? Do you actually think that makes them MASSIVELY bigger? You are being ridiculous with hyperbole. Would it be great if the XM5s folded too? Sure. Of course it reduces the overall size for travel, but not to the extent how you make it out as if you no one would now be able to travel with the XM5s. There are trade offs with everything. People did complain about damage to the headband. So it seems they chose to make the headband and overall structure stronger and more resilient. Unfortunately that means no folding.
I just got mine 2 days ago and I'm really enjoying it :)

Not at all. They may be the best for wireless on android sure. But wireless in general goes to the Airpods Max, and wired to the Sennheiser HD650 (or Sennheiser Orpheus HE1 if you're rich).

Sadly it's not batter than the xm4. However, it might better than the xm4. BUT! A flour mixture with liquid and other ingredients like sugar, salt and leavening will definitely be batter (than xm4 and xm5)

I love my Extra Bass 900 from Sony also ! Can't wait to test these out to see if the bass is gr8 enough for me to upgrade 😍
If you are looking to match the ExtraBass 900 this will not meet your expectations. This have a more audiophile sound profile, better mids and crisp clear audio without the low end distorting everything. (I have the XM4)
Look at the driver size of the 900's and then look at the driver size of the XM5's and you'll realize that the XM5's cannot replicate the bass.

Bass is not good representation of good sound. Too much bass bloats the entire sound spectrum just so you know.

They are only unique in the way that they sell you cheap headphones for a high premium.
Even at sennheiser you get better sounding headphones (550 II) for half the price.
Sennheiser has much higher quality, more comfortable and cheaper.
Anyone who is in the audio industry know Sony makes you pay double just for the brand name.
Sony don’t make headphone every year but the one year they release an headphone…it will conquer every alternatives in the market

Needed new headphones, was thinking about getting a XM4, the timing couldn't be better.
The timing, my xm4’s started making a whistle noise a few weeks ago and it’s been annoying. Now today, a piece of the corner where the right ear cup rotates broke off. It’s falling apart. I might end up liking the new design because of this.
I own WH-1000xM3, they are absolutely good. I was thinking of upgrading to these but then I felt this model was bit of a downgrade because they are removed the fold capability. This takes too much space. Looks like Apple bug has bitten Sony as well!! 😞

Don’t think so, the major feature you’d get is the multi point device connection and the in ear detection.
Check out Digital trends review. The difference is noticeably. I have the xm4, I'll pick these up on sale.
Its apparently a decent step up, mainly cutting out the higher frequency sounds better now

I have a xperia xz premium, and it's compatible, I have the wh1000 xm2, and a friend have the wh100xm4, you only download the app for them, I don't know if the xz version have the DSEE tecnology
