I've spent 100s of hours in just about every overhaul out there, and Rebirth was easily a top 3 BEFORE this update. Now I can't even imagine playing Darkness Falls when this hits full release. The amount of improvements you put into this is mindboggling. So. Freaking. Beautiful.

I was also quite lost in A20 when I played. It did get easier, but my goal on the class guide that I do, is to try make it easier to understand. It is intimidating and it can be complicated. Ramsay has certainly put a LOT of text and picture guides into the initial start of the classes now, so it is much easier to understand. Still, it can be a lot to figure out. So I hope my guide will help.

Yes, I was lucky enough to enjoy the normal Rebirth playthrough twice, but the The Purge is likely going to be delayed for a long time owing to all the mods coming out and guide videos I am dying to do for Rebirth :)

Yeah, I know the challenge system has not been setup yet. So that is one aspect that needs to be done. I am sure some bugs will be found with so many playing now as well.
Excellent vid Bee. I like the purge mod inside the mod, the main game has too much for my play style but the purge "mode" seems like something I would be into.
Yes, killerbunny also brought out "Silent Hill" mod recently, which is also a non horde night mod. I think a lot of players will be attracted to this as they "secretly" don't enjoy the blood moon feature :) If you just switch it off, there is not much of a goal, so this scenario will help a lot.
I slept on this overhaul. Now I don’t think I can play vanilla ever again. The amount of content packed in here is unbelievable. Excellent job Ramsey and snowbee for the summary!
I've never actually tried Rebirth but I did see other youtubers play it. I love how you need so many materials to repair a car. Reminds me of Project Zomboid. Lots of great ideas, can't wait to give it a try!
I downloaded this and The Purge so far is really good. I discovered quickly you can't play like Vanilla, especially after a bear chased me all through town, couldn't shake it at all and well, I died. Lol I can see me spending several hundreds of hours in this playthrough. Thank you for this video, SnowBee. Your video is wonderful and the tips you give are a life saver for a new soldier in the Purge.
I've tried a ton of 7dtd mods and this is Still my all time favorite! It has nice progression without the tedious grind that other mods have. The quickstack feature that allows u to instantly move ur backpack inventory to storage chests and the ability to pickup all types of storage containers is so useful! I typically use appropriate containers like fridges for food, medicine cabinets for 1st aid, lockers or dressers for clothing, tool boxes for tools etc..... With all the features, the best is the ability to CUSTOMIZE with options! Way back in alpha 10 (when TFP actually listened to feedback) they were talking about how they can't satisfy everyone. Yes you can by adding toggleable features. They said they couldn't do that. Yet here is Rebirth doing exactly that! 😂
The developers of the game should hire this moder asap. Damn... speaking of the developers... if they see this they could wet their pants because the Bandit feature... well, they announced to implement them in a future DLC. And this is already here AND with the option to hire companions. It will be hard to top all that is already included in this mod. Really, they should hire him asap.
Afterlife and Rebirth are my 2 favorite slower progression mods. 28 Alphas later deserves a mention for this category. I am still a Darkness falls fanboy first and foremost.
Thanks :) Interesting selection. Of all the pieces, that is quite subtle and you hardly notice it. It is supposed to just be emphasizing and leading into the gloomy atmosphere of the burnt biome. The mod makes the game looks just like the fiction from Chinese web novel. I remember reading one that is just like this. You clearing zombies while they are evolving with some even have magic with enhanced physicals strength. Although some humans in that novel also have magic so maybe it's fair. Hope they add player's magic to maybe balance out in super late game where seems like you have to kill Death God with guns.
I like the fact that he added mercenaries. That and the trader guards were some of the things i didn't like that he Kane had removed from Darkness Falls.
@darkage5 I think Khaine mainly removed them owing to the complaints. They were very unpredictable, noisy at times, and you could get accidentally killed. You never know, if he can implement them better, he may bring them back.

That looks unbelievable fine! However, one thing about 7 Days what always bothered me, is that it's not finite. There is no goal and story. Does this mod add a goal/story? Like idk, your mission is to press the red button, which will unleash a cure all over the land, but to do so, you have to get stronger, since it's within a heavy defended base and you need to collect many key cards to even get into it and to this button. Like, this sort of sense to the game?
Story is coming later. Most mods do an initial "setting the scene" bit at the start with a note. The purge scenario also has that, you have a job to do, and you need to accept the mission or not. So an actually quest type system will be looked at much later.

How can one man solo be more talented than the whole TFP team developers?! Mods like these are what my vision has always been on 7DTD, but instead TFP are dumbing the game down with every update, it had so many cool features back then, but that doesn't matter anymore thanks to modders and their brilliant work!
Sorry to ask but are some mods that add new consumables, craftables or TheMeanOnes mods compatible with this overhaul? (Because I know most of them aren’t but I have my doubts with the ones that do not alter UI, perks or gameplay mechanics, like for example Bdubs vehicles, Midnight’s Sham recipes and that sort of stuff)
@joemedina4731 The Rebirth discord is very helpful and would help with that. I think they have a compatible modlet channel. However, Rebirth changes many things and is such a huge overhaul, that compatibility is quite unlikely.
What about performance in cooperative play? I tried to play this mod like 2 years ago with some friends and was imposible because of performance. In any case the Mod is awesome and the video too
Thanks Sergio. I would suggest checking on the discord for any comments. Right now there are a lot of players that are going to start looking into co-op and getting onto servers. I am sure there will be a lot of evidence whether MP is burning or doing well.
I always ask where are the locations like carnivals, amusement parks, zoo's, cruise ships, airports, dealerships, stadiums and ports/docks? This is awesome but it's sad this is only accomplished with mods
I swear we got spoiled in seconds. First, DF is out and now Rebirth is out too. if Undead Legacy somehow drops I would stop playing any game and focus on enjoying these amazing mods.. 😎👍 already on my way for my second horde night in DF atm. reporting from the field. lol
Haha, yes, I am glad UL didn't come out right now. I will be covering that owing to the many changes, and looking forward to it, so it would have been impossible to cover it so quickly with Afterlife, then Rebirth, and next week is my October news mod video. I will mention DF in that, but do a full review once stable comes. I believe there are many changes in the next few weeks. So we will see.
Can you play solo that overhaul, or is it geared toward multiplayer ? I could found a video that is a year old just saying that you can get 2 classes but that as far as little information there is on that mod regarding the solo aspect and classes.
@@SnowBee Ok so I tried, I dont know if that is because I am using a AZERTY keyboard but the character kept whistling to his dog every 5 sec which made the dog disappear and reappear all the time, but the whistling did put me off big time, so maybe a bug or the control for the dog or whistling, as I could not find it in the options, is meshed with other control on the AZERTY version. I ll wait for a better tuned version. I ll go back to Undead Legacy or Ravenhearst for now. I ll check it out in future stable release.
Yes, it could be the keyboard. The mod is very stable, albeit, in experimental, owing to changes that still need to be done. It has has been tested for many months by many patreons as well. If you use DM, you will find the Q key (switching off/on god mode) which is also used to call the companion will be a problem. So, it sounds like it is a keyboard issue.

Haha. Yeah, nuts. There is a lot of subjective opinion in choice, so I would never rank. :) However, I will likely do something like compare mod features. So if you were looking for mods with a story, or mods that don't have a blood moon, or if players were looking for mods that were closer to the vanilla game, but still awesome with many changes. So, I will list the overhaul mods that fit those categories.

You will need to learn C# code. However, there are modlets that other coders have done that you can just add in and tweak. Other than that it is mainly XML that is the language used for editing mods. You can also start my downloading very small mods and seeing how they work. Guppy's discord is a place where many coders go to get information, and help for their mod's. Many of the modders will help with information and what they think is a good starting point. I would recommend chatting to killerbunny, the Apocalypse Now mod dev. He is on many discords and you can ask him the same question.
Does this mod have any optimization improvements? My biggest issue with 7 Days is that I can barely get 40 FPS at most times... with all the added features I imagine this could get worse with Rebirth?
There is optimisation, but it could be cancelled out for you by the additional assets. If your base game is so low, then not much is going to help, except a better PC. Unfortunately, this game is certainly not optimised.

holy moly. The Purge looks like it might actually turn the game back into a survival game _somewhat_ ... Gotta keep an eye on that. If more survival and realism mechanics are added and more RPG elements are removed, this might just end up being worth playing. Shame that this introduces even more RPG attribute hunting with mods and other ways to gain stat bonuses in every aspect for the game. Big shame that there isn't a mod where you just have to cope with the world as it is without being able to basically become immune to it.
Well, I do think it does a good job at keeping you on your feet and not being completely immune to death in the later game. The Misery feature and added hordes is no slouch once you get to higher levels. Certainly does keep you from becoming too op'd.
@maladyofdeath Water in 7 days to die has often ended in a laggy mess. Unfortunately, TFP have never done water well enough for it. I am checking out some new POI's soon, so we will see if there are any in the largest POI pack ever created.
@SnowBee so true, its always complicated with water. I have made my own POIs using water such as dams, massive aqueducts, underground sewage systems, but it was all just for my own play through using the maker. Its hard to make them work on the map without errors but maybe with some testing it could have been reliable.

At some point, however, during experimental, many mods don't go to mod launcher. EDIT: I have read now that it may never be on the mod launcher. So, certainly not now.

This mod looks interesting, in some ways echoing afterlife, but, in my opinion, the class witch doctor and magic in this mod is absolutely unnecessary. I would love to see a light version of this mod with cut out magic, it spoils the whole atmosphere.
The magic element will be grown as time goes on, so it is unlikely going away. Afterlife has a degree of supernatural in it as well, which will likely grow in time.
It is not available on the mod launcher, it won't be during experimental. I am unsure when it releases to stable but unlikely. You would need to manually install it. I have an alpha 21 guide in my description for mod manual installation. You can use that as the principle is the same for version 1. Just download the mod from the Rebirth Discord and add it to the Mods folder of your copied game folder. you have the most odd timing, i just started playing it yesterday. great minds think alike? also started learning to mod, and guess who's giving me pointers? FNS.
Sorry but in Version 1 rebirth is broken. Took Soldier as I LOVE the m60 in vanilla game. Nefered in the mod! May come good when you get almightly - but intitally you could just use pistol. Balance is fubar. Did a tier 3 (on nomad) and had enhanced zomebies - Invaded by random boss and a feral dog that would not die! Just dont think the overall game / mod is viable. I guess if you knew the "proper" way to progress it would work out - but as there are no real good tutorials (afaik) so much is left to self-discover which I think leads to slow progression and evential inbalance. The mechanics of the game (especially cafting ) deviate so far from the norm that you really need some good guides and sadly (afaik) there are none. Before you realise it, you are in week 3 with crappy gear and all the while the game has become harder due to some "genetic" progression. Guess I will wait till darkness falls comes out for Version 1. Ahh well, will wait till
Sorry to hear you had a poor experience. I have certainly had the no-hit bug, but besides that, no complaints from my kids and I. I do have a class guide I published, as that is usually the area that players are uncertain about, but in a nutshell, just check which pipe weapon you need to use for your ranged weapon, and then which melee weapon that is required. Play with those two and you will get your first class. As I mentioned, I have a class guide which also provides a short cut to starting the class, so that may help. Then you won't need to necessarily spend much time using your weapons to get to your first level.
Haha, well, you never know. One day :) It actually works quite well for me, and Ramsay does have quite a few tweak and performance changes he has added. But yeah, the base game is hopefully going to get some performance updates later this year, though I am not expecting much.
@SnowBee I was being sarcastic. I think 7DTD modders are all way in over their heads with these massive projects, and are highly overestimating their abilities, talent, and creativity making these mods. It all just ends up being one big waste of time and resources for something that was doomed from the beginning by ego.

Agreed, it took me a long time to eventually play Rebirth. Now it is on my top 3 list.
I've never actually tried Rebirth but I did see other youtubers play it. I love how you need so many materials to repair a car. Reminds me of Project Zomboid. Lots of great ideas, can't wait to give it a try!

I downloaded this and The Purge so far is really good. I discovered quickly you can't play like Vanilla, especially after a bear chased me all through town, couldn't shake it at all and well, I died. Lol I can see me spending several hundreds of hours in this playthrough. Thank you for this video, SnowBee. Your video is wonderful and the tips you give are a life saver for a new soldier in the Purge.

I've tried a ton of 7dtd mods and this is Still my all time favorite! It has nice progression without the tedious grind that other mods have.
The quickstack feature that allows u to instantly move ur backpack inventory to storage chests and the ability to pickup all types of storage containers is so useful!
I typically use appropriate containers like fridges for food, medicine cabinets for 1st aid, lockers or dressers for clothing, tool boxes for tools etc.....
With all the features, the best is the ability to CUSTOMIZE with options! Way back in alpha 10 (when TFP actually listened to feedback) they were talking about how they can't satisfy everyone. Yes you can by adding toggleable features. They said they couldn't do that. Yet here is Rebirth doing exactly that! 😂
The developers of the game should hire this moder asap. Damn... speaking of the developers... if they see this they could wet their pants because the Bandit feature... well, they announced to implement them in a future DLC. And this is already here AND with the option to hire companions. It will be hard to top all that is already included in this mod. Really, they should hire him asap.

Interesting selection. Of all the pieces, that is quite subtle and you hardly notice it. It is supposed to just be emphasizing and leading into the gloomy atmosphere of the burnt biome. The mod makes the game looks just like the fiction from Chinese web novel. I remember reading one that is just like this. You clearing zombies while they are evolving with some even have magic with enhanced physicals strength. Although some humans in that novel also have magic so maybe it's fair.
Hope they add player's magic to maybe balance out in super late game where seems like you have to kill Death God with guns.

No, I have not done one yet. On the Rebirth discord there is a breakdown of the classes, I can only suggest that.
I like the fact that he added mercenaries. That and the trader guards were some of the things i didn't like that he Kane had removed from Darkness Falls.
@darkage5 I think Khaine mainly removed them owing to the complaints. They were very unpredictable, noisy at times, and you could get accidentally killed. You never know, if he can implement them better, he may bring them back.

However, one thing about 7 Days what always bothered me, is that it's not finite. There is no goal and story.
Does this mod add a goal/story?
Like idk, your mission is to press the red button, which will unleash a cure all over the land, but to do so, you have to get stronger, since it's within a heavy defended base and you need to collect many key cards to even get into it and to this button.
Like, this sort of sense to the game?
Story is coming later. Most mods do an initial "setting the scene" bit at the start with a note.
The purge scenario also has that, you have a job to do, and you need to accept the mission or not. So an actually quest type system will be looked at much later.

How can one man solo be more talented than the whole TFP team developers?! Mods like these are what my vision has always been on 7DTD, but instead TFP are dumbing the game down with every update, it had so many cool features back then, but that doesn't matter anymore thanks to modders and their brilliant work!

Sorry to ask but are some mods that add new consumables, craftables or TheMeanOnes mods compatible with this overhaul? (Because I know most of them aren’t but I have my doubts with the ones that do not alter UI, perks or gameplay mechanics, like for example Bdubs vehicles, Midnight’s Sham recipes and that sort of stuff)
@joemedina4731 The Rebirth discord is very helpful and would help with that. I think they have a compatible modlet channel. However, Rebirth changes many things and is such a huge overhaul, that compatibility is quite unlikely.
What about performance in cooperative play? I tried to play this mod like 2 years ago with some friends and was imposible because of performance.

Thanks Sergio. I would suggest checking on the discord for any comments. Right now there are a lot of players that are going to start looking into co-op and getting onto servers. I am sure there will be a lot of evidence whether MP is burning or doing well.
I always ask where are the locations like carnivals, amusement parks, zoo's, cruise ships, airports, dealerships, stadiums and ports/docks? This is awesome but it's sad this is only accomplished with mods
Yes, Compo Pack is out in its initial version, I am sure some of those POI's are in it, as it has 1200+ new POI's.

Haha, yes, I am glad UL didn't come out right now. I will be covering that owing to the many changes, and looking forward to it, so it would have been impossible to cover it so quickly with Afterlife, then Rebirth, and next week is my October news mod video. I will mention DF in that, but do a full review once stable comes. I believe there are many changes in the next few weeks. So we will see.

Can you play solo that overhaul, or is it geared toward multiplayer ? I could found a video that is a year old just saying that you can get 2 classes but that as far as little information there is on that mod regarding the solo aspect and classes.
Certainly both. I only mentioned the MP part as it does have co-op features, however, the auras were fine for you in single player as well.

@@SnowBee Ok so I tried, I dont know if that is because I am using a AZERTY keyboard but the character kept whistling to his dog every 5 sec which made the dog disappear and reappear all the time, but the whistling did put me off big time, so maybe a bug or the control for the dog or whistling, as I could not find it in the options, is meshed with other control on the AZERTY version. I ll wait for a better tuned version. I ll go back to Undead Legacy or Ravenhearst for now. I ll check it out in future stable release.
Yes, it could be the keyboard. The mod is very stable, albeit, in experimental, owing to changes that still need to be done. It has has been tested for many months by many patreons as well.
If you use DM, you will find the Q key (switching off/on god mode) which is also used to call the companion will be a problem.
So, it sounds like it is a keyboard issue.

Haha. Yeah, nuts. There is a lot of subjective opinion in choice, so I would never rank. :)
However, I will likely do something like compare mod features. So if you were looking for mods with a story, or mods that don't have a blood moon, or if players were looking for mods that were closer to the vanilla game, but still awesome with many changes. So, I will list the overhaul mods that fit those categories.

If I wanted to learn to make mods like this where would I start?
You will need to learn C# code. However, there are modlets that other coders have done that you can just add in and tweak.
Other than that it is mainly XML that is the language used for editing mods.
You can also start my downloading very small mods and seeing how they work. Guppy's discord is a place where many coders go to get information, and help for their mod's. Many of the modders will help with information and what they think is a good starting point. I would recommend chatting to killerbunny, the Apocalypse Now mod dev. He is on many discords and you can ask him the same question.

Does this mod have any optimization improvements? My biggest issue with 7 Days is that I can barely get 40 FPS at most times... with all the added features I imagine this could get worse with Rebirth?
There is optimisation, but it could be cancelled out for you by the additional assets.
If your base game is so low, then not much is going to help, except a better PC. Unfortunately, this game is certainly not optimised.

holy moly. The Purge looks like it might actually turn the game back into a survival game _somewhat_ ...
Gotta keep an eye on that. If more survival and realism mechanics are added and more RPG elements are removed, this might just end up being worth playing. Shame that this introduces even more RPG attribute hunting with mods and other ways to gain stat bonuses in every aspect for the game. Big shame that there isn't a mod where you just have to cope with the world as it is without being able to basically become immune to it.
Well, I do think it does a good job at keeping you on your feet and not being completely immune to death in the later game. The Misery feature and added hordes is no slouch once you get to higher levels. Certainly does keep you from becoming too op'd.
Ok I think it's time for me to move away from vanilla and try these amazing overhaul mods

@maladyofdeath Water in 7 days to die has often ended in a laggy mess. Unfortunately, TFP have never done water well enough for it. I am checking out some new POI's soon, so we will see if there are any in the largest POI pack ever created.
@SnowBee so true, its always complicated with water. I have made my own POIs using water such as dams, massive aqueducts, underground sewage systems, but it was all just for my own play through using the maker. Its hard to make them work on the map without errors but maybe with some testing it could have been reliable.

This mod looks interesting, in some ways echoing afterlife, but, in my opinion, the class witch doctor and magic in this mod is absolutely unnecessary.
I would love to see a light version of this mod with cut out magic, it spoils the whole atmosphere.
The magic element will be grown as time goes on, so it is unlikely going away.
Afterlife has a degree of supernatural in it as well, which will likely grow in time.

It is not available on the mod launcher, it won't be during experimental. I am unsure when it releases to stable but unlikely.
You would need to manually install it.
I have an alpha 21 guide in my description for mod manual installation. You can use that as the principle is the same for version 1.

Sorry but in Version 1 rebirth is broken. Took Soldier as I LOVE the m60 in vanilla game. Nefered in the mod! May come good when you get almightly - but intitally you could just use pistol. Balance is fubar. Did a tier 3 (on nomad) and had enhanced zomebies - Invaded by random boss and a feral dog that would not die! Just dont think the overall game / mod is viable. I guess if you knew the "proper" way to progress it would work out - but as there are no real good tutorials (afaik) so much is left to self-discover which I think leads to slow progression and evential inbalance. The mechanics of the game (especially cafting ) deviate so far from the norm that you really need some good guides and sadly (afaik) there are none. Before you realise it, you are in week 3 with crappy gear and all the while the game has become harder due to some "genetic" progression. Guess I will wait till darkness falls comes out for Version 1.

Sorry to hear you had a poor experience. I have certainly had the no-hit bug, but besides that, no complaints from my kids and I. I do have a class guide I published, as that is usually the area that players are uncertain about, but in a nutshell, just check which pipe weapon you need to use for your ranged weapon, and then which melee weapon that is required. Play with those two and you will get your first class. As I mentioned, I have a class guide which also provides a short cut to starting the class, so that may help. Then you won't need to necessarily spend much time using your weapons to get to your first level.

It actually works quite well for me, and Ramsay does have quite a few tweak and performance changes he has added. But yeah, the base game is hopefully going to get some performance updates later this year, though I am not expecting much.
@SnowBee I was being sarcastic. I think 7DTD modders are all way in over their heads with these massive projects, and are highly overestimating their abilities, talent, and creativity making these mods.
It all just ends up being one big waste of time and resources for something that was doomed from the beginning by ego.
