My husband listened to Skyrim Music too much, so Amazon Music decided to recommend this to him... He decided he LOVES this group. Now there's a random Vietnamese guy driving around Canada, blasting Swedish Metal. It's great.

That's what I love about Metal. I'm 50 years old and a Metal fan since 1980. I started with Saxon, Priest, Maiden, AC/DC, Accept, Motörhead, Manowar and so on. And I thought "OK, sometimes it will be over with this music, it will be 'out' and you have to go to some oldie festivals and think of the old times."
Then the 1980s came with all those great bands whose members were nor much older than me: W.A.S.P., Helloween, Running Wild, Grave Digger, Metal Church, Rage, Slayer, Kreator, Sodom, Omen, Savage Grace or, not to forget, the good early Metallica, and many others. Many of them are still active and successful today.
During the Nineties, most of Rock and Metal journalists wrote "It's over with Metal, Grunge and Alternative are the harder Rock styles for the future." But suddenly Metal was back! I think Hammerfall gave the initial impetus for that comeback with "Glory To The Brave". Wacken started as the first of the big Metal festivals, many abandoned bands of the 80s were reunited, new great Metal styles, such as Melodic Death, Symphonic Metal, Folk/Pagan/Viking Metal, came up. The Members of the Bands founded during the Nineties and 2000s were at my age or a bit younger.
And nowadays? The German Album Charts are full of Metal recordings, often even on No. 1, by old 80s/90s heroes as well as "newer" bands (Sabaton, Powerwolf, Amon Amarth...). And the best: there are musicians who literally could be my kids that still make the music I love and are successful with it, e. g. Alestorm's Christopher Bowes was born 1 1/2 months after my 18th birthday.
And in this video I see musicians at the age of my real children performing a song that gives me goose bumps all over my body. OK, they should work on their look which seems quite "!real satiric" to me. But the song is just great.
    Metal is timeless.

Firstly, this is why I always scroll down and not watch music videos for bands I don't know. Bad juju when you have a great song ruined by a baaaaad video.
Secondly, as a mid 30 year old, I went to a concert last week and saw people in their 50's there. At first I thought they were with kids or something, but nope. Just there to take in the sights and enjoy the music. Only in metal will you find people from teenage years to mid-life.

I'm just about to hit 50 myself.... Never lose faith. My kids haven't caught on to the greatness of metal. but they keep asking why the songs they hear on the radio are so empty of substance. I tell them i'ts here. I'm playing the long game... two new metal fans on their way!

Comment with lots of likes but still underrated. Came here to say the same. Not sure whether the growler or the mixing engineer should get more credit but kudos to both! Either way, the restrained growls add some great warmth and urgency without over-powering the clean vocals. If this has been done before, I haven't seen much of it but I hope it catches on.

Old comment, but dual vocals are unbeatable when there’s contrast between them. Especially male + female vocals just tends to work so well. More bands need multiple singers, it’s always noteworthy when a band has two lead vocalists or near leads.

    [LYRICS:]
Rising up from a day of plunder
The ale of yesterday has gone down under
The battlefield awaits my soul to Odin
Thor guide me through my battles
    Lead me home (to Asgard)
The victorious will rise to the glory of the gods
    Rise above the mountains
Light a fire in the sky
For the blood is running still
    From the roots of Yggdrasil
    Rise above the mountains
Light a fire in the sky
    Carry me to the hill
    To the top of Yggdrasil
In the hour of final judgement
    Oh father lead my way
When the fire of war reign
I will watch my brothers fall
Our names will be long forgotten
    We live on forever
The victorious will rise to the glory of the gods
    Rise above the mountains
Light a fire in the sky
For the blood is running still
    From the roots of Yggdrasil
    Rise above the mountains
Light a fire in the sky
    Carry me to the hill
    To the top of Yggdrasil
In the dust I swore my hatred
    From seeing unborn children die
The mothers weaping wakes my sword for vengeance
    I ride into infinity
And as I fall I rise
The victorious will rise to the
glory of the gods (rise, rise, rise, rise)
    Rise above the mountains
Light a fire in the sky
For the blood is running still
    From the roots of Yggdrasil
    Rise above the mountains

The chorus kicked in and I got goose bumps. I'm usually really picky with vocalists, but I immediately fucking love this combination. The female vocals are gorgeous, and the primary male vocals are in that sweet spot you usually get from Folk Metal bands. The music itself sounds to me like a mix between mid-2000's Hammerfall and Sabaton's 'Cliffs of Gallipoli', which is high ass praise coming from me. I love everything about this sound.

As Metal lovers, we have to let the rest of the population think that we are violent and dangerous, while we are actually in touch with what music is about. Let's let the rest of the world tear appart for false singers at the Eurovision, while we are enjoying the good stuff. But this Yggdrassil song, it is just an effing masterpiece. A true metal anthem - in the same league with Metal Health by Quiet Riot, Warriors Of The World by Manowar, We Are The Metalheads by Doro, and It's All For Rock N' Roll by Airbourne.
May Freya and Odin always guide your path, my fellow metalheads!

The dollar bill make sense. They went hrough all the trouble to put symbolism into this dollar? Because "The Love Of money is the route of all evil" also people who are pledged to the gods actually incorperated these symbols within the bill. Forget what their "Symbolism means. Its clear. The eagle is zues' Prized eagle and it is holding a fig or branch is from yggdrasil and the arrows represent zues' Eagle retrieving his thunder bolts. Also there is an owl which actually represents herra. there is an all seeing eye and we pass it around to keep their memory alive. By the way this tree is spoken of in ezekiel chapter 31. (The whole chapter) oh and By the way, it is a parable which literally means a short story, does not state whether true or false so in other worda, It is just a summary. Now this tree was not in the garden of eden but it was in eden. It was not in the garden for in the garden was the tree of life. Many ppl confuse that. Thats why summerians and all these other cultures post Zues' Symbol bcuz he had power. The dollar is dark and spread throughout the country. Thats how they keep it alive. Maybe this is partial meaning to the bible verse of that money is the route of all evil. Maybe thats why theres alot of greed bcuz that is what Zues stood for. They just changed a few things to make it seem like it was about this country. It all goes back to this tree. The binle left its description out so that we qoukd not lose focus on who god is. Zues likes to play god but he is not just like the tree was not the tree of life. Paganism is passed through money. Mostly the dollar bill. And it is on the dollar bill bcuz people use small change more than anything. Its is not world wide but i am sure they want to make it that way. Just like the Assyrian Cedar Was In Fact The World Tree So is their agenda to Make A One World Currency Thus Leading into New World Order. E pluberus Unam which means out of many One. This is where Evolution comes into play. They tried to erase gods perfect creation by eliminating the human gene but and corrupting flesh with flesh. Animals with other species and ppl. In doing so They said Hey, theres no god, Just evolution like the Movie Noah when he said and quote "In The Beginning There Was Nothing" Thus eliminating God from the picture. This is why there are aliens bcuz these beings are pushing their agenda to keep god out of the pucture. Thus just as ppl from below this tree or on this tree viewed them as gods and not fallen Angels.

I never heard of these guys until today and my first introduction was "The mead Song" which is a solid 7/10 for me but this song really seals it. I'm officially a fan of Brothers of Metal after this!

Can you guys please upload the voice track of Ylva? I know it's almost impossible to have access to that but it would be so awesome.

I was listening to a The Witcher playlist on Spotify when all of a sudden it decided to suggest this banger. I don’t know how it started playing this since the randomise button was off and I don’t care, now if you’ll excuse me, the gates of Valhalla are waiting

I showed this to my mate and he called it a Viking Evenescence and I can't stop thinking about that.

YES! Was exposed to this song just yesterday and totally got Evenescence vibes. I love this group already, haha.

I get it, it sounds sad so it must sound like Evenescence. Not many Americans can filter European power metal unless it's in comparison to another American band but comparing the American teenage angst of an Evenescence song to a European power metal ballad tells more about your buddy. Pssst... songs about sadness and sad themed music existed long before Evenescence, let me tell you about an American rock called Metallica and their song Fade to Black from 1984.

@@timjowitt4882 OK pardon my presumtion of your nationality, I'll try to be more constructive. Both Ylva and Amy are sopranos I believe so they do sound similar, both bands use electric guitars, bass guitars and drums - however musically it's very different. Evanescence is alternative goth rock while Brothers of Metal is power/folk metal and that's a pretty huge distinction when recognizing sound. Call me a snobby arsehole all you want but your buddy just showed his US-centrism and very shallow taste. Viking Evanescence... What a joke.
