In US people choose what they love because they have well paying job for almost everything. Isro scientists after working so hard getting PhD earn about 80k per month. Taking cs for high paying jobs is still more sensible than taking something like metallurgy just because u want to get into IIT Bombay. Branches should be selected based on what u want to pursue in the future.

I am taking IT cuz i want to go in generative ai field not cuz job security. all this ai has given me motivation to go in those field. i too belong from a middle class but my parents allowed me to do anything i like.
Generative Ai is 💩 and creators of generative Ai are worse than💩. Why not make ai which helps people rather than replacing. For an example, look at Google developing ai which will help farmers grow foods. It is a good ai, not like your Dali 2 which only creates images and steal people's jobs.
I agree but again it's the Indian society, culture, goverment which is indirectly forcing us to perceive in the way we're doing as they lack to provide proper education at so many different levels. And this mindset won't be changing in future too if what has happened continues to happen
Bhaiya, I am facing a similar problem right now. Two years back, my decision of opting PCM was purely based on my interest in space science and the cosmos and I finally decided to prepare for JEE to pursue aerospace from IITs. As of now, not having sufficient preparation to clear JEE Advanced has landed me in a dilemma of whether to go with the risk and pursue aerospace from a private college or to give up my passion and go with the relatively safer option of studying computer science. I still have a couple of months before I take the final call, and till then, I am open to listening to all kinds of advice and opinions.
It's so hard to make such big decisions because you never know the right one, I can relate because I'm facing the same thing. Hope everything works out for you 😊

One of my friend is doing a quantum mechanics course from IISER Kolkata so we've now started to get that awareness and very soon these branches will be introduced in Engineering college not as a gimmick rather as a field of education

Don't worry if you failed to get into IT/CS i am from mechanical engineering but after graduation i woked on Programming and DSA, SQL,HTML and many more from books and many courses and i am working as software engineer now it just took me 2 year to get into that field everything is easy just believe in yourself and always be positive because your journey start from your mindset.❤❤
It's because of the pressure in the students and the overhyped IIT's , In institutes like IIT's NIT's everyone in here are just running after jobs . No one is interested to go to the research and innovation field.
Take EE I guess... in old IITs, they cover EC part in EE too (so they both are somehow same, but EC is like spoiled younger brother of EE). I've EC degree, they prefer EE more for core stuff, but IT companies prefer EC over EE. Overall EE learns more correlated stuff (Machines, power systems, power electronics) than EC which is more in broken pieces & not in more depth except RF, Antennas (Communication, image processing, signal processing) which doesn't have more jobs. Your wish tho.
Btw IITs se acche institutions ne apne courses ko free mai available krwa rakha h kaffi saare branches ke liye. Colleges bus degree/certification ke liye he h. Pr college jane se advantage toh milta h but for some cases that advantage is not worth it like for branches like CS. Job he krni h toh apna resume improve kro, ache ache projects bnao aur new technologies seekho.

When you put all the highest salary and privileges in one department, this is what happens. Cut down the salaries of software devs, they don't deserve that much salary doing the most comfortable job out there. They are extremely overpaid and underworked ans they have also become too entitled. Now the AI is there, use that to cut the demand of CS, and everything will be balanced. This road we are going does not benefit anyone. I'm seeing people from all other department are also switching to CS because it is comfy. This is important. If we don't break the demand of CS, as a society we will fail. Replace devs with AI. It solves the issue.
Solution is simple increase employment for core branches because we poors can't afford huge gap of employment as we need to nourish our family for good life
Me who has genuine interest in CSE & chip design, will do BCA/BCS if I dont crack Entrance for BTech this year. I dont give any F to any entrance, I just want to do what I want. Nobody can stop me! Mind it! I love CS. And I do freelancing in 3D programming & software.
Can we choose ECE in tier 3 and take risk believing that India's semicon industry will boom so much in the coming years that every ECE grad gets a fair chance to earn in par with CSE grads.Taking ECE is a long path and requires enormous efforts from teir 3 cllg student to get a good job right after 4 years with very less or limited opportunities in core.

I'm an ECE student and I chose this branch not specifically for job but I have a huge interest in electronics not only interest even I love electronics and want to go in R&D and also want to create some new technologies which will help the mankind. Yeah some of you might be laughing at my last statement but this what my dream is. I don't know if I can do it or not. But I will give my 100% to achieve my dream.
Their is no opportunities in other sector of engineering like aerospace/mechanical/chemical in India. U have to leave india if u want to be best in the field. U can try for govt job like IES aur psu. A avg middle-class student have seen the struggles for them wanting high paying google/Microsoft job is understandable. Also research: pay is very less and some Institute like iiser, niser,iisc, iit have good facilities for it

CS degree is a fast track way to make real money in real world all the above fields which he mentioned like biotechnology, semiconductor, nanotechnology, quantum technology requires to have PhD and I agree with his statement that 🇮🇳 India needs to grow
But my suggestion to you is try all, listen to all but only follow your heart and your intuition especially while making carrer goals yes it is hard cause if you fail or succed its 100% your responsibility but it will be worth it
And my final suggestion is like my friend wants to be an influencer and a fashion designer and a model but due to his economic conditions he got CS degree and by working in IT he can quickly get handful of money and also pursue his other hobbies
But when it comes to me I am a mad lover of 🔬 science and I love research therefore practically I can work on those projects like biotechnology, nanotechnology etc cause I will fo higher education, my family is little bit capable to support me in all possible ways, I have most of the privileges, and I love research

I am taking IT cuz i want to go in generative ai field not cuz job security. all this ai has given me motivation to go in those field. i too belong from a middle class but my parents allowed me to do anything i like.
Generative Ai is 💩 and creators of generative Ai are worse than💩. Why not make ai which helps people rather than replacing. For an example, look at Google developing ai which will help farmers grow foods. It is a good ai, not like your Dali 2 which only creates images and steal people's jobs.
I agree but again it's the Indian society, culture, goverment which is indirectly forcing us to perceive in the way we're doing as they lack to provide proper education at so many different levels. And this mindset won't be changing in future too if what has happened continues to happen

Bhaiya, I am facing a similar problem right now. Two years back, my decision of opting PCM was purely based on my interest in space science and the cosmos and I finally decided to prepare for JEE to pursue aerospace from IITs. As of now, not having sufficient preparation to clear JEE Advanced has landed me in a dilemma of whether to go with the risk and pursue aerospace from a private college or to give up my passion and go with the relatively safer option of studying computer science.
I still have a couple of months before I take the final call, and till then, I am open to listening to all kinds of advice and opinions.
It's so hard to make such big decisions because you never know the right one, I can relate because I'm facing the same thing. Hope everything works out for you 😊

That's why Firstly there are basic science courses and then one can study quantum computing and nanotech in masters or higher studies
Aur waise bhi har country mei pehle research hoti, then application part develop hota, firstly you'll need people who'll be qualified enough to know how quantum mechanics works you cannot directly just create a program and be like OK wow now we'll have quantum computers
You'll go step by step, these are fairly new fields so firstly these will enter Indian education system as courses in pure science like BS MS courses and once we have a research background and enough people working on it then we can go to engineering aspect because engineering is application of these abstract concepts to solve real life problems
And as far as I know government has taken first step because nanotech and quantum physics courses are there in top research institutes like IISC, IISER.... One of my friend is doing a quantum mechanics course from IISER Kolkata so we've now started to get that awareness and very soon these branches will be introduced in Engineering college not as a gimmick rather as a field of education

It's because of the pressure in the students and the overhyped IIT's , In institutes like IIT's NIT's everyone in here are just running after jobs . No one is interested to go to the research and innovation field.

Take EE I guess... in old IITs, they cover EC part in EE too (so they both are somehow same, but EC is like spoiled younger brother of EE). I've EC degree, they prefer EE more for core stuff, but IT companies prefer EC over EE.
Overall EE learns more correlated stuff (Machines, power systems, power electronics) than EC which is more in broken pieces & not in more depth except RF, Antennas (Communication, image processing, signal processing) which doesn't have more jobs. Your wish tho.

When you put all the highest salary and privileges in one department, this is what happens. Cut down the salaries of software devs, they don't deserve that much salary doing the most comfortable job out there. They are extremely overpaid and underworked ans they have also become too entitled. Now the AI is there, use that to cut the demand of CS, and everything will be balanced. This road we are going does not benefit anyone. I'm seeing people from all other department are also switching to CS because it is comfy. This is important. If we don't break the demand of CS, as a society we will fail. Replace devs with AI. It solves the issue.

I'm an ECE student and I chose this branch not specifically for job but I have a huge interest in electronics not only interest even I love electronics and want to go in R&D and also want to create some new technologies which will help the mankind.
