"drummer carries them to the next level"
sheds tear for someone understanding hes not bad
Lol. Love it. Lol
@@Gus100676 it hurts me that ppl expect lars to go fast all the time and technical but the songs always sounded like it never needed that. after black album drums took a doo doo but Death m made it good
@@freakbag556 agreed. Death M was amazing and brought them back. Still one of the best bands ever.
People always talk shit on lars, and I mean sure he isn't near the level of a lot of metal drummers in terms of technicality and stuff but he plays his role in the band solid as hell, like even though his style is super simple it definitely helps give the songs that kind of driving force that is part of what makes metallica so good
I love lars!
Everyone tries to be "good" but no matter what, everyone has a dark "bad" side inside them. Sad but true! He's describing the bad part inside us all.
the song is about religion and how people continue to believe in it... even in bad times, when their "god" fails them...
@@ResubidorSerial thats the God that Failed
@@ResubidorSerial uh oh i think you mean the God That Failed
Unless that bad part is addiction it’s not in all of us. He’s not talking about Carl Jung’s Shadow in this song.
I understand why you’d put parentheses around good when referencing the shadow because good can be subjective depending on the culture. For example homosexuality would have been wrongfully seen as part of the shadow during times of Jung.
Why have you thought all Metallica songs are love songs?😂😂
if he wanted metal love songs, he would love scorpions
Sad but True lol
Seriously! Someone should give him a tip..metal generally doesn't do love songs or sad songs.
@Kraze Unless it's a love song about politics. But....reading the lyrics might cloud your perception. What ever you do, DON'T look at the lyrics.
Metal is basically Blues with a heavier sound.
The group metallica is full of really nice and funny people acctually. u wouldn’t think that because of their music
Yeah he needs to react to some Motley Crue if he wants to see super "quintessential rock stars".
inb4 the "Lars is an asshole" comment
I do appreciate how honest their music is
I had 35 minutes face to face with James, when I gave him his guitar, he is one of the nicest guys ever and totally focused...family is first😊
"Why do they play like they're angry?"
Because actually there is anger that drives alot of the music. Anger from childhood experiences etc. Rock has been equally cathartic for the writer and the listeners. Cheers
Thrash Metal usually is anger
I think this is about addictions. No matter what they may be. My personal favorite.
Its just about control and manipulation in general.
The lyrics are pretty much self explanitory 👍
That is moth into flame
I heard it was about James’ alcohol addiction
i think it’s mostly based off religion, from google researching
Angry? You should see the big goofy grin on James Hetfield’s face when he’s about to take stage.
He says "I'm You" at the end. I think the song is about his inner demons.
Winner winner lobster dinner, it is about that little evil part in all of us that gets loose once in a while be it alcohol, drugs, gambling, cars, or whatever. What we regret that we did but know was our doing but we still do not like to own up to it, that part of us that wants to go insane and do all of the shit in our heads but rarely do.
Yeah. I always thought this song was about that dark part of your mind. You are the vessel, mask, and machine that your mind uses to carry out its dirty deeds. You say that you’re innocent, but your mind says otherwise and it’s sad, but true.
it’s close you almost got it, the song is about religion corruption, the first part of the songs like until the end it’s all about god or a lord taking over you, and thing to lure you into a deeper role, and the more you ignore his orders, god says he no longer cares and his inner demons takes over, aka that’s how metallica(the band) was created
Metallica Black album and previous are amazing. They are also all about lyrics. I may not have had the lyrics in hand the first time I heard the songs but I did check them out later.
Don’t forget death magnetic
"Y'all didn't have the lyrics in front of you the first time you listened..." Dude, the lyrics used to come printed on the album cover booklets, for tapes and, later, CDs, lol. 😂 I miss that.
That's exactly what I was about to say 🤣
Exactly!!! We got lyrics and all kinds of artwork when we got our "albums" (vinyls)😂
🤣🤣🤣hot sauce and toenails
Still most people aren't gonna read the lyrics before they listen to a song. You just want to be surprised.
The lead guitarist Kirk Hammett is the nicest guy in Metal.
Love ya, Kirk
Wherever I may roam is another great one from the same album!!!
Yes wherever I may roam
Hey JoJo I straight up back you reacting to this song
Enter Sandman
The singers name is James Hetfield he saw the newspaper listing for a lead singer that’s how he and Lars Ulrich the drummer met and the band began
Lars was looking for a band and James was looking for a band and their adds kept on showing up in the paper without much else going on in the "looking for" section. Then they ended up talking to each other about it. Lars wasn't a very good drummer by any stretch back then, but he had decided to put together a band and his pure sheer of will has kept it going for 40 years now. They could have called it "game" so many times over the years, but Lars hasn't allowed them to do that... He is the engine behind the scenes that keeps the train rolling. He isn't the most talented drummer in the world, but his business acumen is legendary.
“Is this a love song?”
*laughs in James Hetfield*
4:50 "What is he even singing about" The answer to that is in the first verse. "I'm your life"
I googled the meaning for you. What is the meaning behind Sad but true?
It is how your past and decisions build you and have a result over your future. And it is "" that you can't escape your past and your fears build by it and that the future has already been written by your past decisions. The song itself puts the story from the POV of your "life" (future and past).
So basically the Twitter anthem
Next one needs to be Four Horsemen. Can't wait to see your reaction.
He'll think its a love song at first for sure
Oh yeah-yeah!
Yeah!!!
I always read the lyrics actually. Lyrics are important to every great song.
The more you want to analyze the lyrics, the better the song is in my opinion. Metallica songs are not just one note angry. They all need something very specific and they took extreme measures to make sure the lyrics had meaning! I hope this dude actually bothers to read lyrics with out listening to the music first to try and see what is being said. A lot of it is up to interpretation, but no it is not Shakespeare lol.
I was holding lyrics When I first heard it.
Yep
Yeah i print lyrics always and hold them
When you buy CD 🤟
@@PumpinggainzNartistic what is a Cee Dee?
@@joshniles5540 really
Your definitely a rocker!!!! 🤘
I'm loving your Metallica reactions, please keep them coming...
Having said that, I couldn't help but notice how you mentioned how "We" meaning those other than you, didn't have lyrics when we first listened to them, in this case Metallica. Well you might be surprised to find out that back in the day, CD's, and even cassette tapes, came with a tiny booklet with all the lyrics of all the songs within them, so indeed some of us did have the lyrics when first listening to Metallica/whoever, but do it with the lyrics/without, however you wish, but it's only doing yourself a disservice if not...
I've always interpreted this song as being about losing control of oneself because of addiction or some other inner demon. Perhaps the slow creep of the sum of all of your small compromises and misdeeds eventually taking over to become who you are. You can't escape your past.
Also, I strongly recommend you review the S & M version of any future Metallica tracks you review. Mind blowing. Good ones to consider (excluding songs I think you already reviewed):
Wherever I May Roam
No Leaf Clover
Bleeding Me
I dont think there are S & M versions of these songs, but they are total bangers that you will love:
King Nothing
Ain't Your Bitch
Tuesday's Gone
Turn the Page
Through the Never
Finally someone appreciates king nothing
Your Channel, Your Rules and I got 100% respect for them.
Love your channel broski.
The lyrics they come up with are absolutely amazing!!!! LOVE these guys!!❣️
OMG you are correct. Enjoy it and react to it any way you wish. Thanks for making these!
This song is about the two sides of people.
The "false mask" you present to the world.
And the "inner self" that you hide away.
"I dont get these lyrics!"
Me : Maybe read them... 👀
I love how when they play this live and he introduces this song he says “now it’s time for one of our happy tunes.....SAD BUT TRUEUEEEE”
He also says often “Do you want heavy [insert city here]?”
Love these reactions, is cool seeing people expecting there taste in music.
One thing I will FOREVER LOVE about this song is the echos of his vocals in some parts! Like when I lay down in my bed in the middle of the night with my eyes close it feels like my soul is slowly leaving my body...that's what every metallica song makes me feel and I LOVE IT \m/!!!
Love ur reaction man!
LOVE YOUR CHANNEL YOU GREAT REACTIONS YOU CAN FEEL THE MUSIC
“Is this a love song?” Famous last words 😂
When I was your age and younger, CDs were the most popular way to hear new music other than MTV, and the radio. I would sit and listen to a new album and read the lyric sheet, which was usually included in the CD booklet. So some of us who recommend that you read the lyrics do so because you often say you have no idea what the song is about.
Idk how in the hell I ended up on this video this morning but it made me happy 😊 thank you
It's impossible not to headbang at least a little bit when this song is playing :)
Back then the lyrics came on the inside of the cassette case. So yes, we had the lyrics in hand when we first heard the song.
But all the power to you, no lyrics needed to enjoy metallica
Singing about all the dark in us all.
On a side note you are now a head banger like them glad to have you among us, cheers.
It's about the pain suffering and loss that comes with
Substance Use Disorder.Keep rocking! I'm digging deep into rap.
This is the best react channel, always respects the solos!
I was reading the lyrics when I listen to them, maybe not the first time but later on. Lyrics are important in Metallica songs but you can just go with the feeling as well, you're just missing out sometimes.
Not everything written is literal, a lot is abstract like poetry and it can mean a different thing to different persons even if the writer had a specific idea in mind. A lot of artists never say what their creation is about to let people make it their own. That's art.
Like you said, you didn’t do it the first time majority of the time. If he wants to go back and do it later cool. I rarely ever look at them first. Usually try to take the song in first and then go back later when I’m tryna learn it.
One of the few songs that they kept a steady head bomping flow from beginning to end. The reverb bass is sick as hell.
Watching this man vibe makes me smile lol
I don’t know why, but I love the intros so much
Telling us you want to hear it like we did for the first time... mad respect!
❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥 This is what is known as head banging music !!!
So great to see a younger fan.
In the intro part: "is it a love song?"
OMFG XD
One of my favorite songs by them
I woke up and saw this and jumped right into it! Knew you would like this one. James does look intimidating when he is at the mic. But then he smiles and he looks completely different. Lol
We were holding lyrics came with the tape cassette... I misss that
actually, when I got a new cassette...(back then we had cassettes and records)..we would get the tape and read every word on the liner notes, lyrics,etc....memorizing every producers and mixing studios,etc...while we listened to the album...but that was my experience growing up
Sad but true sounds awesome live ... Jason really shines on this one he was so heavy yo 🤘😎
JoJo is the kind of dude you want to stand next to at a Metallic concert. 💯❤️
you NEED to listen to the day that never comes, its one of their recent songs but its definitely one of their best!
Seen Metallica 8 times and James Hatfield was never angry, actually the opposite! These guys are a family and the fans are part of that family!! Fun, and a great release🤘🏻🤘🏻🤟🏻
You said "...somee kinda Galaxy hammer..." literally as it dropped in, great fluke 😂😂😂
It is how your past and decisions build you and have a result over your future. And it is "Sad but true" that you can't escape your past and your fears build by it and that the future has already been written by your past decisions. The song itself puts the story from the POV of your "life" (future and past).
To me, he is referring to the inner man in all of us. The darkness inside.😀❤️
We live for the aggressive of heavy Metal 🤘
i always took this to mean that you are your own worst enemy. it doesn't explain that its talking about you until the very end of the song. This song really resonates with me, as i was forced to grow up at a very young age and now i have that dejavu feeling of, been there done that with everything. therefore i hold myself back from enjoying life or doing anything remotely fun because i have always had to be the responsible one. Responsible for my siblings, the workload of the house, my father (who avoided home like the plague) all while maintaining honor roll in school and everything else.
You can't deny the power of this music!
Bro…miss you so much!
For me...I grew up being abused..this song described me..hiding away inside..till I had the strength and courage to scream...enough!!! This song helped me know I wasnt alone..and I didnt have to pay for love with pain...
The fact that we watched this man turn into a metallica fan 🥲 I feel like a parent
Hey you did it!
LMAO!! 🤣 “Hot sauce and toenails” Hahaha!
Its you deep inside, behind your cover how you expose yourself. Like an inner demon
‘Tallica dudes! Rock on! 🤘🏽
There’s a lot of metaphors in this song. Also life is hard
I believe that this song is talking about the inner feeling, the negative emotions that we face sometimes and sadly is all in us. We make them real. This is sad but true.
The song is a person's personal addiction talking to them until said person realizes that the addiction and they are 1 in the same
One of my all time favorite Metallica songs
For future reference, I recommend HERO OF THE DAY, NO LEAF, CLOVER,and CREEPING DEATH. CREEPING DEATH talks about the Exodus when Pharoah Ramses wouldn't let the Hebrew people go when the Prophet Moses warned him what would happen if he didn't
"Hero of the Day" S&M ❤️
Creeping death live in Moscow
It’s pretty much about the darkness we all have inside us that gets us through life when we need it too.
U saw Anger on stage?
I saw intense Excitement.
Just happiness letting loose of all the troubles n pains we go through in life with Loud Heavy rebellious music
Anger is a Gift
This song is about the darkness... The darkness that is in every one of us. Most of us try steer clear of it as much as possible, but it is there... And there are times when it does rise to the surface and these are the moments we are at our worst. This song is about the darkness we are all trying to hold back.
You would be surprised on how wholesome and kind the lead singer (James) truly is! 😌
this song is about the part of you that tells you to do bad and we all know it's in us sad but true! WE all have that little demon inside us! Some of us listen to it some of us don't but it's a constant fight to listen to it or not but it's always there talking to us egging us on sad but true!
The Memory Remains
Put your emotions and make them flow just go with the feeling you want people to feel it's just a great push of emotions that's what makes it so great I know I feel it and that's what I like to feel like it ain't about just hurting nobody it's just a rage that comes out of you that makes you feel good like a drug
You need to watch more live music from them!!
This song is about past choices impacting your own future.
Tune !!! 🤟🎸 1,2,3 headbang
Totally agree. We didn't read lyrics while listening to these songs
Surprised people aren't telling you about Metallica's song "Creeping Death" or "The Day That Never Comes" or even Megadeth's "Tornado of Souls" which has one of the most famous metal solos in history.
Fair point on unexpected unions between tone and title. It had a tendency to make sense in a James Hetfield kinda way. This one was a particularly catchy song in the capture of a self-defeat theme.
5:23 I was like... DON'T PAUSE NOW...... and he went and done it 🙆♂️🙃
"Hot sauce and toenails for breakfast 😋 lmfao. Some old lady cut them off at the grocery store." Oh my goodness the giggles I'm suffering now
Actually I usually did have the lyrics in my hand while I was laying on my bed listening to it on my Walkman. When I got older I’d pop in a new album while I made myself some food with my favorite metal magazine ready to go while I listen. That was my weekly payday ritual when I was single.
Actually when you buy an album a lot of us do sit there and read the lyrics with the album. It's part of the experience for some of us. Some of us.
Need to do Metallica-fuel!!!
Why not just throw in Monna Said or something from St. Anger while your at it. 🥱
@@NPK476
Mama Said
@@ostatnimohikanin2403 Whatever that shit song is named.
This is a song about reality. And reality is sometimes sad, but true
Do your reactions as you see fit. This is your channel. You can always rewatch with lyrics later. I know that I never had lyrics on hand when I first heard these songs.
God I love Jason on stage.
Go with Orion next.
Actually....when we got cassettes the lyrics would be inside and we would open up this huge pamphlet and read along with pics and info on the band. I had their posters all over my walls
Metallica, welcome home sanitarium!!!!!!!!
