What a lovely bloke. Never flew with him (I left the airforce in 1986 after 10 years). I'm guessing he is quite a bit younger than me...enjoyed my time though, Bulldog, JP T MK3 & 5, Hawk, F4 and Tornado F3. My old man volunteered in 1943 as a pilot or observer when he was was bombed out of his house in Sheffield (a bit personal) and ended up as a Group Captain station commander at RAF St Mawgan in 1967. I do like your content with fellow flyers. Cheers from a rather chilly Otford, Kent, UK.
Great interview. Amazing to consider the Tornado was designed to fly very low directly over a target and drop unguided bombs and bomblets. Then ended its career performing CAS missions with guided weapons from medium altitude and launching cruise missiles!
I've always wondered if RAF pilots who have tanked with US aircraft prefer the hose and drogue system of the RAF or the solid boom system of the USAF. which system do they find is easier?

Really enjoy these interviews with servicemen. Thanks to all who served.

Awesome interview, Chris is a brilliant storyteller!!
Thanks mate.
Brilliant stuff. Love hearing the Tonkas crews in particular. Miss that beast.
Absolutely amazing. This is how it's done.
Cheers!
Mike's done enough of these that he knows what questions to ask. Importantly, he knows when to just let the guest talk too. Another good one!
@@davidsmith8997 Thanks mate!
