I think something that would also fix queens coming back for now their third and fourth times is like…just waiting to do all stars. Let the normal season play out.
Drag race seasons have had issues with us seeing the same queens all the time. We have some great queens from the last 4 Drag Race seasons. Do All Stars every 2-3 years. It lets queens cook in normal life and then come back with a bang, it also fixes the issue of us seeing the same people. Just wait. They are burning out the older season queens.
It’s like survivor or big brother. They wait a WHILE to bring back beloved characters or have a return season of people. It’s makes everything feel better seeing your favorite after a bit of time to grow.
that´s too much wait. We're having 15 queens on a season lately, meaning 14 possible all stars casts in the future, while all stars seasons have had 10 queens on average... it HAS to be yearly so it can be self-sufficient... or accumulation will occur,.
I hate the non elimination format (except for all winners, which to me is a celebration of those queens) because there is simply nothing at stake. They already won their money and by now everybody knows that a crown doesn't mean that much, winning the crowd is what really matters. Doing a season for charity is fine but I'd prefer this format on a Halloween or another Christmas special.
I am not against the non-elimination format since we have a small cast BUT what really annoys me is the fact that the judges are so positive about everything the queens do. It doesn’t feel like critiques but just praise because there were many times were you could have critiqued a queen about her performance/look.
Winners like Jaida don't deserve the Crown for that incident...

Another great way to improve lip syncs is diversifying song choice. More spoken words, Comedy Lipsyncs(Old McDonald or Freakazoid type) and ballads. Esp since recent all stars are leaning so hard into comedy, give the queens some campy songs! We’ve seen them rig Morphine to have BODY and Jinkx to have mallambo! I think it would be least offensive on an all stars.
Yeah. Or just swapping songs. Give banana to Gottmik vs Plastique and Jump in the line to Gottmik vs Nina

There are two simple answers: Less of them and make them more unrigged. Production should have no say in who wins, or gets voted out, of all stars and challenges should be even, no extra dance or comedy to favor certain queens. Also Drag Race doesn't need to be 365 days a year, a little dead air might make it fresher.

i think i've mentioned htis before but i'll say it again, I remember seeing a drag race fan season where it was like every queen went in with 3 stars and there was a bottom 2 each week and the top2 queens had to pick someone to take a star from while earning a star, and if all of your stars were taken from you you'd be eliminated
This is so overthought… just so much hand-wringing, navel-gazing, too-clever-by-half meta-analysis of a show about drag queens.
I love it. Never stop. I wish people I met at the bar talked about Drag Race like this more often.

All Stars is happening too often, that's the biggest problem, starting so soon after normal season is another problem. I would prefer an All Stars season only every second year, airing late summer/autum. The non-elimination version I like much more than the old version, but I wish the rules would be clearer, the double badges or badges for mini challenges coming out of nowhere just to keep the queens with few/none badges in the game is ridiculous. They need a better, fairer idea to solve that problem.
I’d honestly be fine with US all stars every other year and then vs the world every other year as well. Getting 2+ all stars seasons a year is a bit much
Maybe for the vs seasons switch off years, Canada one year and UK the next

@@TheDopekitty that was the original plan, but the franchises coming next after Canada were Holland and Down Under... so you could imagine why they wouldn't want to continue this vs the world thing and will finish with CanadavsTw2.
Ok let me have a take.
1. Elimination season but first 5 episodes, Top 2 all stars lipsync for a bigger prize each week and an advantage on the next main challenge. (both win a badge)
2. after episode 5, half of the cast with the most badge continues.
3. Bottom 3, where winner of the week's challenge save 1 from the bottom, then bottom 2 lipsync for their lives. After the lipsync, each queen vote for the better lipsyncer, less votes gets eliminated.
4. Top 4 will not lipsync for the crown but will just have typical end season musical ala Read you, wrote you.
The winner will be base on the over all performance in the competition, finale performance and fan reception.
PS: Upon casting, Cast 2 designers, 2 Fashion queen, 2 comedian, 2 lipsyncer, 2 jack of all trades, 2 actress, 2 Singer. AKA Make the cast diverse.
Give each queen a stipend for the clothes and for just appearing in the show. Bigger prize money!

I was thinking it would make sense to have a “split” season where there’s no elimination at first to show off the queens, make sure there’s a balance of challenge types right out the gates before re-introducing elimination. It gives contestants a time to shine and re-introduce themselves if it’s been awhile without the fear of totally wasted effort if you’re gone after a single episode.
The block system kinda sucks cuz it's hard to actually block the next week's top 2,it always misses
They should tell the winning queen privately what the challenge is
Everyone starts with 2 stars each and if you win a challenge (top 2) can steal a star from someone. The person who wins the lip sync gets the money as a bonus. The top 2 cannot steal from the same person in one week.
The amount of drama this would cause would be AMAZINGGGG

Idea: We get a Top 2 and a Bottom 3 each week. The Bottom 3 plead on the stage on why they should stay and who they should be eliminated and why. Following that, the Top 2 go to a seperate room to discuss for a X amount of time who they should save. The Bottom 3 and the rest of the girls stay together, which would be in the main show, and the Top 2 deliberation would be in Untucked. I decided like that so we can add up drama, since the decision of the Top 2 will be anounced in the mainstage, to which the Top 2 will need to give their reasonings. If a decision that the Top 2 agree upon cannot be found, the Top 2 will reveal their votes in the mainstage and their reasonings for doing so, then *THE CAST* will vote on which to save, *BASED UPON THE DECISIONS THE TOP 2 CHOSE TO SAVE.* For example, say Alexis Mateo and Vanjie are the Top 2 and the Bottoms are Aja, Plastique and Bosco and Alexis wants to save Aja and Vanjie chooses to save Bosco, the cast will not be able to choose to save Plastique, only Bosco and Aja (which each will have to give their reasons aswell). If that ties too Ru chooses lmao. Then, the queens that werent saved will lipsync for their life.
Imo, a format like this isnt as "harsh" as you eliminating the queens yourself, while also sharing the "blame" with another person, while forcing social games. Furthermore, the Bottoms queens arent as helpless and also gives a cool point that the Lipsync Assassin format has, of the cast being forced to pick a side.
All Stars casting is definitely a problem. This was especially evident on Seasons 5 and 8. When you cast 1-2 juggernaut queenns against a bunch of early/mid season outs, it gives production's preferred winner a clear path to the crown. This wasn't really an issue on AS6, because most queens were pretty equal from the start, so noone really knew who would and wouldn't do well, making it a far more interesting season.
Yeah, casting can be questionable, and I think this is why I don't like the top 2 format. Queens don't like eliminating their coworkers and friends - hell, we got Bendelachrist BECAUSE of how shitty the elimination format was. Putting elimination back in the judges' hands would probably go a way to bringing on more queens who haven't done it before.
And tbh it doesn't really create great drama either. Either everyone sticks to the usual "Let's eliminate based on the judges' comments" and people only get annoyed that they were eliminated, or someone eliminates other people to save a friend and we get drama from that. Occasionally, someone will take the strategic approach of eliminating a frontrunner, but as someone who likes DR for the competition and seeing the best people make it... yeah, that tends to kill a season for me.
Most queens were not equal from the start on AS6 💀 you can't tell me you could expect the same from queens like Ginger, Eureka, Yara, Akeria as from queens like Serena, Jiggly, Kylie, Rajah from what we had seen of them.
It just happened that there was no clear front runner and track record got kinda even for everyone, making it unpredictable. Which is not the case with what happened with Jimbo... 💀
Except who was the juggernaut because it was clear they wanted Shea to win but Cracker dominated the season and I think season 8 casting was just really bad and As6 to me was very clear who was making it to the end i believe Rajah should won I think Kylie won to shut fans up about trans not being excepted on drag race

The top 2 format (along with the lipsync assassin format) is the reason why a lot of queens started to decline all stars...ultimately it doesn't work long term because the queens don't want responsibility for sending each other home...however, the Canada/Golden beaver format should become the standard for US all stars
TOP2 would require a change in mentality. In early seasons of Survivor, sending people home on all stars was a massive issue, but in later seasons most competitors were able to take it less personally. It also goes back to the fans looking down on queens for being early outs
Production picked Queens with production value, they don't pick Queens with Zero charisma...
Trixie wouldn't have won had Shangela been in the finale... Everyone thought it'd be Shangela after Ben left

She had a better track record, but in terms of the rumix/fanvote, I think Trixie would probably still win
It’s kind of smth that could go either way. Trixie had a better verse and WAY more fan support while Shangela had a better track record (and is a better performer but I doubt that would matter since production would probably tell her the same thing they told Kennedy to basically make her throw the lipsync)

Yall hated the lipsync assassin format but I loved it… when there were actually lipsync assassins
AS6 is a great example of what the format could be, I just don’t think there’s a large enough pool of assassins willing to do it for the format to be sustainable
I’ve been thinking about a format where each week alternates between an elimination episode and a non-elimination episode but the winner gets immunity from being eliminated next week. So at least we can see more of the queens and the risk and fun (for the viewer) of elimination is still there
AS9 is only a non elimination because its a charity season

Personally the non elimination format is my favorite because I like seeing the queens having fun which both seasons we see much more. Plus it keeps the cast a lil smaller so we can see them all a lot more.
What are you talking about Serena being casted as an early out!? She literally won the season!? i even have saved the footage on my channel.
I dont think returning to the as2-3-4 format would be good, alot of queens have expressed how much they hated having to eliminate their sisters (Heidi recently for example).
Imo they should just have btm 2 lip-syncs.
Canada vs the world is gonna have the beaver format which im a fan of!
One thing that bothers me tho is that the beaver only allows for 1 winner, which for all stars isnt the best.
Maybe have 2 winners and 1st place gets (more) money and the beaver? Kinda how as2-3-4 queens could either win or lose the lip-sync but they both won in the end.

I liked All Stars better when there were a few years between each season. I also think queens should only get one chance at a spin off. I am not interested in third-time-lucky queens, who know how the show works, competing against others who have only appeared in a handful of episodes.
Okay, but if you don’t want people coming back for 3rd tries, but you’re mad about early out casting, then who do you cast?
I think we should just aim for stronger casts overall. The better the competitors the better the challenges. If that means bringing back AS2-4 queens who haven’t been on TV for over 6 years now, then I’m okay with it. I’d rather see Tati or Aja again than all these random early outs like Monica, Naysha, and Serena.
Jade, Dida, Joslyn, Jaidynn, Kameron, Asia, Shuga, etc. there's still a massive pool of queens to cast. I'm also find with 3rd tries after a certain amount of time, but I think competing in 2021 then 2024 is too soon

Just use Rate-a-queen till top 4. Rupaul chooses the winner based on the top 3 (You can even have double winners or a triple team win) and have the bottom 2 or 3 lipsync for their lives and RuPaul chooses a winner or winners from that lipsync. Rate-a-queen is all that is needed to create alliances, drama, and can be fun TV. After season 16 the first 3 episodes were amazing with it and I've always thought it would be excellent for an AS season. The funny part is, as long as they don't reveal the actual ratings, people will not even know if Rate-a-queen is accurate or not. It's a win for production and they can keep their hands cleaner from their obvious involvement with eliminations and rigging challenge winners. Also, just having All Stars maybe once every 2 or 3 years would help since it's on Paramount Plus anyways.
I think we should an all legends season which is like all stars of all stars
I think the challenges also need to be more well rounded, I’m sick of so many comedy challenges, there should be equal amount of performance, comedy and fashion type challenges
All Stars has been suffering? I think season 8, yes, but not all of the other seasons.
I mostly agree with the video, I just would say that not every winner is mostly guaranteed to win, like in AS3, Bendela quitting was pretty shocking and I see no way of Trixie winning, cause Shangie was the best, but Bebe also slayed, though she is severely overlooked (no hate to Trixie at all, she's amazing and was an amazing winner). Also with the non elimination, I don't mind as long as, like you said, there are stakes, there are punishments, and prizes to fight over, the problem with AS9, for me is the non elim with the prize for the charity, so basically no stakes. Thanks for the video, I really enjoyed!❤
I dont think Trixie would beat DeLa, but I will die on the hill that when you remove the favoritism of Bebe/Shangela, Trixie was stronger than both of them

Shangie did second best, Bebe was really overlooked by fans, but I never came back to watch the season, so I might have a different perception if I watch now. Regardless, Trixie is probably one of the best winners of the franchise, she did a lot
i think for a starter the prize money needs to be increased to $350,000 at least for all stars. the incentive to returns needs to be better
I’d say 350, but also guaranteed money for the other finalists. It sucked that Anetra, Luxx, and MIB took home nothing in the finale

Since Survivor is mentioned what about an idea that riffs off Exile island? Specifically I could see where queens gets voted off but then enter into mini challenges for a chance to stay and eventually re-enter the challenge. Maybe every three queens out they lip sync and the top stays in exile until another two join them and it continues? It’s need some creative thinking and finessing but I could see it running alongside the main competition with the threat someone you sent home re-enters. It might be too convoluted and distracting though.
I also could see if they continue with the badges having a season where in the first half it’s non-elimination with a balance of challenge types giving the different talented queens an opportunity to play to their strength. Then partway through the season elimination re-opens and low or no-badge scorers are immediately up for elimination and we have a bit of a mid season lip-sync showdown with only 1 from let’s say a bottom 4 staying to continue competing. Three then go home so there’s no one “first out” AND they got a couple of episodes to show off and gain some fan favour.
Also in my second one there could be another layer of “math” in who you give badges to as you may want to either keep by giving them a badge or send a particularly strong lip sync assassin to the bottom by snubbing them in order to knock other girls out from returning. I think it could add some stakes and drama depending on how it played out.
I've read the spoilers, fandom is going to loose their mind in next episodes. Production is literally going to distribute the stars among the queens who they want in Top 3.
1. Wait every other year to do an all stars so the cast can stack up. The most favorite seasons of all stars 2, 3, and 4, because of the stacked cast and it being hard for production to rig it. Having it every year causes them to run out of people who want to do it and having to have a “filler” cast such as All Stars 8, whether it was for Jimbo to win or not. 4. Production has now put themselves in a sticky situation on whether to do an elimination season and have no one want to do it because they would rather wait for an non elimination season or have non elimination seasons with that becoming unfair to past seasons such as 5, 6, or 8.
2. Production has to let the natural twists happen. For example, lip sync assassins is theorized to only happen because of Manilas elimination on All Stars 4 where a front runner was eliminated. They created lip sync assassins so there’s less of a chance of that happening.
3. Twists should not change the original all stars format. The lip sync assassins was cool for All Stars 5, but because now that it has been in the same amount of seasons as the top 2 format, production should realize that people don’t like this format anymore and go back. Keep the things people like and get rid of things people don’t.
4. Honestly all I have left to say is that production needs to be smarter with their decisions. Stop making controversial decisions on seasons which make them worse; they need to think about what they can cause.
I think your leaving out that so many queens have said they never want to do it again and some of that has nothing to do with money so legitimately just don’t want to come back and have been asked over and over so yea sometimes there are gonna be queens back more then once unless you want a shorter season
Also Trixie only won because of the jury even Ru and Michelle said they thought the jury would’ve voted for Shangela so had Trixie won anyway despite but Shangela and Bebe having way better track records it would’ve still looked like they crowned Trixie because they wanted to not because she deserved to win
I think calling "filler" to the queens that didn't reach the top in their original seasons is pretty disrespectful. Everybody deserves a second chance, and I don't believe that anyone you consider "filler" has disapointed. Maybe Serena Chacha or Monica Beverly Hillz went home first on All Stars, but they showed A LOT of growth and, honestly, they deserved the chance.
Make no mistake, AS9 is bad.
But youre crazy if you think trixie was going to win over Shangela that season.
Trixe came back more polished from her OG season, but she was a distant 3rd.
Neither would have won if Ben stayed in the game, but Trixie was certainly not giving front runner in As3.
Drag race is the most successful reaility competition show since season 1 of America Idol.
No seriously. No other show on tv has increased its rating from season to season. The idea that drag race (or at least all stars) is still paying chump change for prize money (when so much comes outof pocket for the queens to begin win) when shows like Survivor, Big Brother and the Challenge are anywhere from 500k-1,000,000 is just crazy.
Now I just want for there to be a hot mess season that incorporates every format...
Non elimination + teams for the first 4 episodes, then a top two format until the final 5, then lip sync assassins. Then before the finale there is a fame games talent show, SDADHH lip sync smackdown, and reunion.
I don’t really think they intended what happened in AS3 to happen. I mean…. And I hate the stealing stars idea. Why not steal wigs make up and costumes too, while you’re at it.
They didn’t Ru and Michelle have both said they thought Shangela would get voted in and they were surprised by the outcome how I still think they would’ve rigged it for Trixie to win regardless
They NEED to go back to having all stars EVERY. 4. YEARS. It’s called ALL STARS for a reason! Yes it’s shade.
All stars is boring, we all know who is going to win before it even starts airing. All stars are too close to each other, I there needs to be more time between each season. I strongly agree with this video too.

They should just use the Canada4 format
Imagine a season in which we fix lipsync but literally just picking better lipsync songs and songs that better fit the girlies we know are going to lipsync against and assassin (Jimbo-> coconuts) or against one another (Plastique getting any modern, simple, pussypusspuss song, some k pop gigs).
We have no problem “rigging” the song at the end a la AS8, but we might get some better lipsyncs mid season this way.

i disagree on the all stars 9 opinion. i think the stakes are pretty high because of the drama and it is definitely one of the best all stars seasons.

I 1000% agree Sonique should have won the snatch game on her all stars season. If she had won it in tandem with the acting challenge, I feel like the fandom would be a lot more in her favor as an overall winner
I think there should be a "challenge winner" and a "runway winner" who lip sync against each other.
Thats Thailand and Thats a very Messy format, a Snatch Game winner can be eliminated on the same episode
this would foster queens not caring enough because their designer bought clothes will not only save them from elimination but also.... give them a win... tf
Some ideas would be:
-More different franchises that don't have to necessarily run every year.
-Give us All Stars every 4 Years, and have the performers compete for charities.
-Give us an International All Stars every 100 queens [worldwide] and have those compete for money.
-Give us All Winners every 8 winners or so [whenever you have 8 winners willing to compete], whenever you have a cast of 8, and have it play out as a celebration of their drag.
-Make regular All Stars seasons, if they are not for charity, themed ones - like an all early-outs cast, a cast made up of fan favourites, filled with top 4/5 queens, that kind of thing.
-Give us a Snatch Game and a Snatch Game of Love in All Stars Seasons. [I love that challenge.]
I don't mean that all of those ideas should become reality, but maybe one or two of them should.

All stars should be every other year and I do prefer the larger casts (12 is the perfect number) but if they still want to do non-elimination they should get rid of blocking/cutting people and make it so you get half a badge for being in the top two but you have to win the lipsync for the other half
