I used to have a neighbor like this (now deceased) They called city inspector a lot and even complained that I don't spray my yard with weedkiller. I told the inspector that if I got harassed one more time that I would see him and the neighbor in court. Never heard from him again.

I watched another story of a woman who had 3 cars at her house. She parked one on her lawn next to the driveway. She got a fine for parking on her own lawn. It was a big dollar amount and they went to court and the judge said she had to pay it. It's ridiculous

I have lived next door to my current neighbor and her family for almost 35 years in a NO HOA community. At this point, I consider them to be as much my family as my real family is. We have grown up next door to each other and have helped each other through numerous issues. From house repairs, to shared fences, to landscaping tips and so on. I feel really bad for the poor woman featured in this video.

Absolutely. Follow the money; who are her relatives; where did she/hubby work? There is usually a trail to a judge, clerk, lawyer, council person-she's too damned haughty and snotty and confident.
Codes are there for a reason though, and while even the enforcers might disagree it doesn't mean it's in their power to stop it. A real example of this is that I actually had a neighbour who changed their driveway and while I wouldn't have a problem with it normally the change in the literal sense diverted the water away from the storm drains so when it rained my driveway ended up getting a few inches of puddled water on it. If the inspector came out and used common sense on a dry day they likely wouldn't see the issue. In this case I do think it's overboard and the neighbor is just crotchety but if the code says one thing the code should be changed. Honestly if I was in that persons situation since there is nothing stopping the neighbor already I would just fight fire with fire and call on code violations on that neighbor until they agree to a truce

I watched another story of a woman who had 3 cars at her house. She parked one on her lawn next to the driveway. She got a fine for parking on her own lawn. It was a big dollar amount and they went to court and the judge said she had to pay it. It's ridiculous

They would have no choice. Code is code, the people enforcing it probably hate doing it but if the code is written a certain way then they get their hands tied when it's reported.

I have lived next door to my current neighbor and her family for almost 35 years in a NO HOA community. At this point, I consider them to be as much my family as my real family is. We have grown up next door to each other and have helped each other through numerous issues. From house repairs, to shared fences, to landscaping tips and so on. I feel really bad for the poor woman featured in this video.

You'd think Code Enforcement would act with common sense.
Codes are there for a reason though, and while even the enforcers might disagree it doesn't mean it's in their power to stop it.
A real example of this is that I actually had a neighbour who changed their driveway and while I wouldn't have a problem with it normally the change in the literal sense diverted the water away from the storm drains so when it rained my driveway ended up getting a few inches of puddled water on it. If the inspector came out and used common sense on a dry day they likely wouldn't see the issue.
In this case I do think it's overboard and the neighbor is just crotchety but if the code says one thing the code should be changed.
Honestly if I was in that persons situation since there is nothing stopping the neighbor already I would just fight fire with fire and call on code violations on that neighbor until they agree to a truce

This is what happens when you are so used to the landscape looking a certain way, you become the neighborhood police. I hope this woman finds justice. She is taking care of her mom and her son, and her garden brings her joy. I would have never removed the pavers, but she is trying to keep her happy. She has come to her wits end. Just worry about your own house.
Agreed!!!!....Knowing who I am and how I work hard to make and beautify my front lawn...I would've NEVER taken any of that beautiful garden decor down just to please her. Trust and believe I would've given her some very choice words of mine and she wouldn't have liked none of them.
