Hello everyone, welcome to Age of Wonders 4! The Elemental Dragon of Water Shalassa has finally arrived to represent the Oath of Harmony. If you'd like to hop right in to the campaign, the Dragon Lord descends in to the middle of the map at 14:00. Spawning in the middle of the map with these Realm Traits active is a relatively bad omen, but it did allow me to meet a lot of my fellow Godir. Eldest Brother at 29:52 may be my only friend, the First of the Circle at 37:07 is still considering friendship, Eldest Sister at 40:53 may be my first enemy, this Foul Creature at 59:35 is the enemy of the world, Flaming Brother at 1:02:24 is pushing my buttons, and Earth Sister at 1:33:38 is enjoying her bottom corner. Thanks for watching! P.S. This playthrough took an incredibly long time to set up, so feel free to like the video and/or share your nerdy lore drops! I did my best. 😅

Glad not everyone has forgotten Heroes of Might and Magic. I really hope they come out with a new part of the franchise down the line. It doesn't even have to necessarily be a turn-based rpg. Just some more stuff. Then again I'd be just as happy if goobisoft died and had to sell the ip to someone who cared.
Heroes of Might & Magic Olden Era will be releasing in to Early Access next year! I'm not sure what to expect from it, but it's being developed by Unfrozen, who I trust to at least be passionate about it.
@Fableheim Seems to me they're kinda patch working together all the best features that people liked from each game, such as the legendary town screens from 5, and the duel upgrade systems. While keeping to a 3/2 level of combat system and overworld. I'm interested to see which 6th faction they're bringing to the table, since already the demon faction is an insectoid swarm that has been corrupted by the demon lords, and the storyline is also going back to Enroth, instead of continuing with Ashan.

You'll probably notice this anyway but you still have your claw attack. It's just not considered your default attack any more. It was at the end of your action bar.
It's nice to see a harmony playthtrough for a change. Even if it is the weakest of the 3. Eta; 1:04:00 Forced March, Cult of Personality, and Barbarian is presently the strongest thing you can do in pvp, next to Attunement Mystic shenanigans. It's pretty much auto-banned in every lobby. If anyone cares.
I really enjoy chaotic influence. Really pushes you into war with your neighbours, if you're the kind of person who came over from Civilisation and needs to extra push to bloodlust.
58:26 Lighting bolt was always the same zap, but now it has longer range and it is a target and then up to 3 other targets, it was max 3 with the prime target before the patch.
28:20 tbh if you manually control scouts you will miss lots of resources, I draft mostly 3 or 4 of them and put them on auto, they do that fine, sometime I use them to scout certain part manually or dig a tunnel undergound, but that's all. They will be fine, except when they will die in areas of infestations or free cities at war with you :)
1:04(ish) The AI doesn't use forced march so that trait is wasted. Oh, and lol you sound kind of like Jon Irencus from Baldur's Gate 2! xD (that is a compliment!)
I love this play through and I understand a lot of this is about lore, however, I would be grateful if you could take half a second and pause over which buildings and units you are selecting before you move on to read more lore. Excellent job. Thank you. Subbed.
46:10 It is not that mages are weak, but they need to be protected otherwise they are weak, while melee characters defender or warrior, they can do solo stuff without an issue even after small nerf, they are bonkers. Mages do decent damage, it is basically a must to go for raw damage, also the bonus to damage will be applied to your breath, so it is mandatory.
I'm not saying that I chose Astral Dragon to triple down on the Magic tag being returned to Dragon Breath but.... I chose Astral Dragon to triple down on the Magic tag returning to Dragon Breath. 😸

Could make "I've only had Arlo for a day and a half, but if anything happened to him, I would kill everyone in this room and then myself." faction, with small ruler surrounded by big faction, reminds me of Manga about Little Princess in Oni Tribe. Or Reverse idea and make Mommy take care of the little ones, but, that would probably be best with Giant Kings DLC.
Oh new series great timing need something to keep my mind off things mom was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 weeks ago they caught it very early so its fixable . going to be spending lots of time at docs though.

I do plan on covering Olden Era when it releases! I currently know very little about it but I wholeheartedly trust Unfrozen (the developers behind Iratus) to give it the respect it deserves.
If I become the Race Keeper, would that cause the Angelize to show up in my sustained spell book section? I think that's where the option would be but I haven't seen it yet.
Oooooooooh, i have a great hatred for the Academy! Always stomping around on my stuff in game... sure i may be a proud necropolis main.. with som fortress depending on the game, my arch enemy will always be the blasted academy. I doubt you will have added mother asha, but im still holding some hope.
Harmony has 3 ranged units, Tier 2 Mage and Support, Tier 3 Mounted Archer, so Accuracy trait isn't bad for them. Also Harmony can have 3 out of 5 units on a mount, not counting scouts: Fighter, Support, Ranger, 2 of them are ranged, could make Mounted Archer Build; for some reason Elves pop in my head
On the bit of Hero's always ending up the same, I don't see how that's an issue with the game. In my campaigns I really enjoyed mixing and matching different abilities, perks, passives and modifiers to fit the theme of my empire. It feels really unfair that options (that were available to me when I bought the game) are now taken away from me because other players aren't creative enough or satisfied to find other synergies besides the meta. And does this really fix the issue? Cause it seems to me that now you're just going to have people looking for a specific class so they can pick specific abilities under specific alignment. This doesn't get rid of optimizing your heroes it just changes how you optimize your heroes. Still a good video though.
@@Fableheim I made the mistake of trying the Dark culture very first. I got a win with Industrious, just because they're meant to endure. I also made a lot of positioning mistakes with my armies. Having tried again, I genuinely believe now that if you play Dark and don't go Necromancy, you're playing them wrong.
@@AngryGerbils I wouldn't say "wrong", but the two mesh very well together, more than any other Culture+Affinity. The new Prosperity Tomes are a great boon to Dark as well, despite the clashing theme. XD
@Fableheim a culture with no healers or shields just goes well with a "more meat for the meat grinder" mentality. Who knew? I say that, but the first time I lost units was against an enemy lord. Losing Legend rankers sucks.

Welp, no declaring war, ever. And you can't lie and fabricate grievances. If someone declares war on you, you will be expected to truce out. I don't know how you're going to keep a harmony playthrough interesting. Edit: You couldn't go one episode without starting a war. I'd consider that a failure for the oath of harmony. I know you didn't have a choice, but I told you that would happen in my comment on the poll.
You don't *have* to Truce out of a war that's been declared on you, it just gives bonus Devotion if you choose to do so. The declaration against the Free City was an accident because I was just clicking too fast to get through the Trespass warnings, but I might have eaten it anyway to prevent losing the Bounty for Vigilante Knights. I view the Devotion bar as a resource and plan to make good use of it in this playthrough. (:
Really not a fan of the new battle AI, it's so fucking annoying to have a singular unit just kite your entire team and inflict stupid amount of unnecessary damage. I think the devs on discord called it "spite mode" or some shit, but basically when the ai army is certain to lose - it just drops everything and start to hurt you as much as possible.
It indeed called spite mode, and it is indeed incredibly spiteful. I'm not sure how I feel about it but I do think it could mechanically be a decent thing, punishing all-in builds and what not. 😅
Hey Fable I luv your content but lets work together as a community and boycott AoW4 until there are version rollback options that protect customers from being forced to pay-to-betatest new content. Season 1 was fine! I didnt need drastic changes to the game I waited 2 years to be feature complete. The new hero system sucks! Boycott Aow4 till Gandalf can use a sword again!
No need to boycott the game, the devs are quite receptive to feedback The problem is that, apparently, most people I’ve seen seem to like the hero change I disagree The skills needed a rework and I love actually seeing skill trees and expanded lists but locking them behind arbitrary “defender” or “mage” tags feels unnecessary
I personally love the new skill rework and think that it was a necessary one because otherwise the devs would've been extremely constrained in designing new skills. But I agree that restricting equipment based on class is not the best idea, hopefully Triumph will change that in the future.

I did Harmony for my first Oathsworn. It was good fun. I'm sure it was confusing for the AI when I healed more than the damage they dealt

I didn't add Mother for the same reason I didn't include Urgash. She's still sleeping peacefully in one of the Moons. (:

That is exactly what happened. You do retain the claw attack as an astral dragon (you have 2 types of base attacks)
