Hello everyone and welcome to Age of Wonders 4! It's been one week since the release of Eldritch Realms, and the Grand Empress has arrived to declare a new Age of Supremacy for the Mantid! If you'd like to hop straight in to the campaign, jump ahead to 8:05. In this first episode, Shek'zeer met all but one of her opponents, discovering the Traitor Swarm at 52:41, meeting the sole potential friend at 1:11:16, and uncovering the source of ultimate evil at 1:34:55. To the Mantid, all others are lesser beings that exist solely to strengthen the might of the Swarm, and the drums of war already begin to sound at 2:04:02. Thanks for watching!

Just as a reference to Daniel, i belive Malakai Makaisson could represent the Reavers pritty well for the future. With all the mecanical stuff and not having a home and such.

Don't forget that Tom misspelled Conjure Tentacle hero skill, there now is a Short of that part.
Also Ascension: Deepcaller is both great and disturbing, dealing 45 damage and Summoning Tentacle without timer is great, but, imagine how that tentacle rises from the ground and finds the "Undefended Entrance"

That was the first time I had ever heard or read the lore for that Tome, and I was not disappointed.

The funny thing is i got this gamelike 2 days ago, and the first character i find of my first time playing is BLINT. Why is it always HIM indeed🤣

@@Fableheim Memes aside, my actual strategem was to focus archery, go Fabled Hunters, and use Swiftfoot Raptor's Slippery to avoid ZoC with Furies and Houndmasters.

54:50 Keepers of Knowledge is nuts, I play a game with it right now and you will simply own all free cities as vassal, it is really OP, combined with Ancient Ones or anything helping research and ideally Mystic you will steamroll everyone in research and diplomacy and thus income from all sumpreme vassals, I have owned 36 vassals in large map with 10 opponents. I have to add that I found some of my own faction to have more juicy racial heroes.

@@Fableheim I think it is kind of limited by the count of whispering stones, but still it is strong and I played whole campaign with 2 main cities and the rest were vassals, basically you can spam scouts early 5 is ideal for that strategy and put them on auto, while you need to go Order and Shadow to get extra whispering stones. I think too that we can expect some changes after feedback from players.
Tome of the tentacle lore bit reminds me of that futurama movie with the tentacles
The Mantid being created by Y'Shaarj is..sort of correct?
The Aqir formed from the corruption from the old gods, and when the trolls shattered their empire, the survivors end up going to 1 of 4 places:
Ahn'Qiraj, build around C'Thun, and transformed into the Qiraij;
Ahn'Kahet, in service to Yogg-Saron, became Nerubians, and rebelled;
Manti'vess, worshipping the dead remains of Y'Shaarj, became mantid;
And then there were those who hid, and rebuilt, in the shadows of N'Zoth, in dread Ny'alotha,who remained Aqir.

Ceaseless Cacophony, could work for Sirens, Succubus, or something similar, like enemy getting close and getting distracted (by Song, Appearance, Pheromones, or Magic), so they can't land a hit.
Empowered by Magic sounds annoying on Industrious Culture,
also seems fitting for Khorne Faction, 'HOW DARE YOU WEAKLING USE MAGIC ON ME?! I'LL REAP YOUR HEAD OFF!'
Light Footed, while not new, is quite good, reminds me of Battle of the five Armies from Hobbit.
All of the reasons you listed for Ceaseless Cacophony technically work for the Mantids as well, I just didn't explain it very well. XD
One day, I'll have to try and redeem the Industrious Culture in my eyes... eventually.
You have got the normal units + bonus archer from Fable Hunters, if you have started with hard condition you would have received one less shield unit so 3 + 1 and less resources, I don't like that start, but hard threat is good, it slows also AI from expanding so it is beneficialy for exp and slower AI progression.
Yeah, I completely forgot about the bonus units from Fabled Hunters and was just thinking about the phat +75% loot. XD
I might try Hard world threat for the next anti-Abyss playthrough, but facing off against T5 units by turn 15 is always a bummer.
@@Fableheim Yeah, it is a bit too much when an infestation spawns dragons in turn 10 and try to stop them before besiege your throne city :)

New Fashion mod also ads some back attachments, Tentacles that come from Heroes back and Eldritch Sovereign's Moving Insectoid Legs, sadly legs don't move.

I've actually used one of the new features from the new Age of Fashion mod. It's hard to see on the diplomacy screen, but Varian is carrying around the Pyre Templar's little book on his waist. (:
You didn't see this, but it's also possible to sacrifice souls to the Umbral Dwellings. Of course, you have to be an empire with a soul economy for that to show up.
Ohh, I didn't know that! I did know there are Soul-specific Rituals but I've never seen the offering pop up -- thanks!
Great character ideas as always :) you inspired me to create my own mainly warcraft/warhammer pantheon of aoe 4 characters.
For some suggestions for future eldritch playthroughs: Nagash with tomes of the death knight mod and Lolth as primal spider culture with umbral adaptation. This combo is really good, because all fungal forests with gloom give you 6 knowledge.
Another eldritch character idea would be the Absolute from bg3

Man, MoP:Remix looks very different that what I remembered
1:15:00 rank-maxxing t1 units is actually the meta thing to do in pvp. It's a little silly to start popping out rank 5 units before turn 10.

@@Fableheim Rerecord the whole thing, do everything the exact same way, final faction gets revealed in episode 2. "Look guys, pandaren molekin, the final faction I definitely put in here from the start"
A shame there isn't any good stand-in for kunchongs. Oh, to have the ultimate siege beasts! But I'm sure Her Majesty will do quite well for herself regardless.
I debated going for Warbreeds to represent kunchongs but I didn't want to insult everybody's favorite walking skyscrapers. The tier 3 Tomes are also pretty much set in stone to play with the new stuff, so I suppose it worked out in the end. 😅
Will there be Spanish Inquisition for Meme Factions, you could alternatively make Molemen Inquisition led by Blint, 'No one expects the Molemen Inquisition!', could make them High Culture.

I'm curious if Iratus and Kel'thuzad would be trading souls often to get on the good side of the Umbral Demons. Probably not. Kel'thuzad's master is very anti-demon and Iratus doesn't seem like the sharing type
Also, could it be possible to make an arch-lich version of Kel'thuzad with the Eldritch Sovereign customization options?
I think that canonical Kel'Thuzad would be unwilling, but the Kel'Thuzad from my previous series would probably be willing to parley with the Umbral Demons.
Iratus could go either way. Canonically, he hates Demons (Fiends in this universe), but the developers have stated in the lore Q&A that he "mimics and uses" ancient rituals in his pursuit of Necromantic power. He would never *side* with them, but I could definitely see him offering a bone to gain access to their magic. He may also make use of their units but not to any meaningful extent.
I would say there's a severe lack of chains, armored cloth, and bones to recreate a 1:1 of Kel'Thuzad's Lich form, but you might be able to pull something off with the dangly skeletal or the male robed body form.
@@Fableheim There needs to be more icey or undeady options for customization in general. Should be more skeletal/armory looks for the Eldritch Sovereign, but then again I also think there should be more ethereal/undead looks for the Dragon Lord so *shrug*
And here I was beginning to think we'd been handed an I.O.U. for a new series while you ran off to play Elden Ring
