EP2 is out now - ua-cam.com/video/keAkLLdBNws/v-deo.html ! Finally kicking off our first Age of Wonders 4 LP on the channel. I've got some interesting plans for how our Tomes will develop over time to reflect the faction we've built - as tempting as it was to start with a faction of rats, I thought I'd do something *toad*ally different for starters. Enjoy!
City name idea: Etiolopolis. Etiology in medicine is defined as "the cause of a disease or abnormal condition" and the cause of a disease is called etiologic agent. The word polis in Greek means city, and in terms of settlement naming hierarchy the suffix -polis stands at the top with the most population density. Considering the theme of infectious disease of your fungal toads and the city being your capital I consider Etiolopolis to be fitting.
Farm first gives a boost to the Workshop. Workshop for production and draft. Food from the farm/pasture gives growth for the next pop. I think thats usually my first move in this game. Then more production with a quarry. Then gold. Also, Warping wilds seems to throw to random 'desolate', 'lava', 'ice' and 'desert' than subtle shifts. Personally, I would like it a lot more if it wasn't so dramatic - so I hope they make a 'turbulent climate' map mode that is less dramatic and actually shifts slowly with more swamp, grassland, etc and not extremes where ice appears immediately next to lava. Also - get the province terraforming tomes to solve the problems :)
In my playthrough I am playing as necromantic shadow goblins, killing enemy leaders, razing their cities and reanimating them as undead to lead my armies to war! Such a great game!
That crossbow is really good. If you get the killing momentum skill you can attack a second time if you get a kill, and the bounce really tears through multiple enemies. So you run up to guarantee the hit and get a kill, then use killing momentum to move to a safer spot and attack again.
Fuck yes!!! Party is my go to for playthroughs of games I'm interested in but just aren't quite in my wheel house! Can't wait to watch this one, been missing the Victoria, Ixion and Company of Heroes videos!
Gar Gul is built like a hammer wielder - give him something worthy of his form! That aside, poison weapons for close combat AND ranged weapons should be a priority for research and it’s super thematic! I like using exclamation points!
I've seen your whole Warhammer: Rogue Trader Alpha Playthrough and i never made a comment ... I enjoyed all episodes while painting 40k, Age of Sigmar or Middle Earth Tabletop figures . I tried to paint today while "listening" to your Age of Wonders stuff. But i couldn't paint a single brush stroke because i had to watch this video with excitement! Very nice, will definitely follow through this series, too! Your decision concerning the auto resolve is very good. Skip the simple ones and play the story related or interesting battles. Or you could play all, i don't mind watching those, too. You, good Sir, are definitely one of the best UA-camrs out there. Thanks for that a- class entertainment. Keep it up, your videos are always outstanding! Have a great week everybody. Greetings from Germany
Forest tile directly south of the Desecrated Temple is an amazing city spot. Access to 2 tiles that can produce Research Posts, a Pasture tile, the wonder itself plus a bunch of foresters and/or fisheries.
As a barbarian faction I think you should consider making Gur gul a melee based champion as it will be aligned with the faction he leads (he is one of them after all) also you could have taken the "wizard king" if you want him to be specialised in magic
I love watching some other youtubers play throughs of this game to kind of get a good idea of general strategy, but at the end of the day, you're let's plays are always my favorite because you focus way more on your own story compared to micro managing decisions to just be "good", which is way more in line with how I like to play these games. I always get excited when I see you upload a new episode so keep them coming!! As far as fighting the battles or not, I wouldn't mind watching the more interesting battles. Like if you're fighting with or against a new unit, or sieges, or it's a big moment in your story, like the last battle against a free city before you crush them. I like watching the battles but can understand some of the more pointless ones are... well pointless.
So good to see RP decisions in the game set up. It will be why I'm watching this playthru and not others. All those options seem like a massive draw, ofc I wanna see someone actually play with them!
The blip at the top left corner of the minimap shows possible provinces (farms, quarries, etc). Gives an easier overview when checkin' for domain bonuses of possible new cities.
this game is seriously addictive. i cant put it down. i think this might be the best strategy game i've played since Stellaris came out. And SO MUCH potential for improvements via updates, mods, and DLC. Props to the devs, they really nailed this one
So, this weekend I have watched 3 different let's play of this🤣 It is so interesting to see how this game can be played in so many different ways! Can't wait to see more of this! I have to focus on one let's play, so I am convinced that the right path is to follow THE GROWTH☠💀
I think you should do important battles, and do auto-resolve for the rest - only fighting those battles if the auto-resolve results in you losing high-tier or essential units. I'm looking forward to this playthrough, Party. Good luck!
Really enjoying this game, and honestly while a lot of people are kind of upset at how they made races just an aesthetic choice, frankly I'm loving creating my own worlds with custom races rather than necessarily going with the canon. My current favorite character is an Elven Artificer who completely transmuted himself into an alloyed being of Iron and Gold (1st skin decoration), and now leads his people into seeking ultimate perfection by transmuting themselves in the same way (Steel Skin and Gold Skin minor race transformations). He has the Perfectionist Artisans and Rune Smiths society traits, and is a High Society due to the underlying agenda of the faction being the pursuit of absolute perfection. He absolutely shuns any form of chaos affinity, pursuing mostly Materium and Order with a small splash of Astral. Super fun, and the Perfectionist Artisans makes the game a bit more challenging due to the limits it places. The army is built heavily around enchanting my soldiers with every enchantment I can afford, fielding armies of golems, raking in tons of money due to Perfectionist Artisan trait (every building gives +5 gold and +1 happiness) and also abusing the Zeal mechanics (splash a bit into the Zeal tomes since Zeal and Condemnation is such a good combo).
Man I had only played Total War Warhammer and then I saw your videos about this game ?! So I bought it and boom weekend gone! Lol I’m havin a blast playing this. Definitely wouldn’t have picked it up with out your videos being this good.
I just wish you could customize the clothing of your faction a little too. I mean I like to play Mystics a lot, but find the clothing of the mystic race members a bit goofy.
Interesting idea for a playthrough, purely minmaxing (especially this early before significant community informed balancing) would probably drive playthroughs into pretty similar paths.
I think retry is perfectly valid if you aren't comfortable with the autoresolve outcome. It's also the way the Devs intend the game to be played, so there's that. Retrying a battle you played manual again is another matter. :)
I think you could go a few ways with Gur Gul. If you are attached to him with the Blight Staff, go the magic route for his level up. However if you are not focused on him being a very focused magic user, I think taking either of those Tier III weapons is definitely ideal.
This is great! Looking forward to more of this playthrough. Gur Gul's a warrior, so I say stick him with the boss hammer. Gorepit's an ok name, but maybe something like Gorebog would fit the Growth better?
Cities can only take provinces that are 3 provinces away from the city itself, so you would need to place another city to utilize the wonder. (Unless you wait for a certain nature affinity trait that adds +2 to it)
Suggestion for the city name! The Mouldering Pit, or the Pit of Decay. Suggesting it's a place where the conditions for growing fungifrogs are present.
You would get much more value out of that berserk spell if you use the warhammer on Gur Gul and cast it on him too. Down the line it would also make for more intense battles if he leads the charge flanked by two berserkers (or war breeds, if you choose that tome)
its a deep complex game but very easy to pick up and play. the UI is excellent and you can get by just following the end turn prompts while you get your head around the mechanics
I tried a realm with Unlimited Power before, and it was a mistake. By late game, you have so much mana and combat casting points at your disposal, that you can sit there and just bombard the enemy army with nukes. At a certain point, bringing armies to the battlefield is just a formality!
I like the name gorepit it's fitting but I have a suggestion. Seeing how your leader is named Gur and how you've set him up as a barbarian God king, you should amend the name slightly and call it Gur Pit
Just found your channel. I’m really close to buying this game but want a bit more detail. Loving your play through so far so I hope you keep going. Late game is what I’m wondering about. Only other game I played like this was Civ 6 and the late game became really long and boring so I hope this one is better.
Hey there! I've been having some trouble running Age of Wonders 4 on my computer. It seems to be struggling with performance issues and lag. I'm a big fan of your channel and was wondering if you could do a video showcasing how the game performs on Boosteroid. It would be really helpful to see if Boosteroid can provide a smoother and more enjoyable experience for this game. Thanks a lot, and keep up the great work!

oeh, wading a bit into solarpunk are we?
I see what u did there. Let's get Froggy!
Sigmar helden-hammer. What do you mean a massive hammer named that isn't kingly?
please do a ck3 dlc starting position video :)
@@carltheoneeye9353 thats emperory, not kingly :p

Gur Gul was born for this... 'moulded' for it, if you will
mold'd
I like the idea of turning Gorepit into Sporepit.
Would love to see a full victory playthrough! Loving this game and all the content!
Nice to see this game getting love. It's a great combo of 4x, tactical, and paradox elements, while being it's own thing as well
City name - Sporepit. Not very imaginative, maybe, but it fits.
Love how u approach these games and not entirely bent on min maxing and using just OP builds
Chaos and nature is literally the most op in aow4 for now
Prolific swarmers and scions of evil on barbarian culture is super optimal

That sounds awesome! It took me forever to finally decide what to do here - there are just so many options!
damn that sounds cool deffo gonna buy this game on payday

Time for the yearly -50 hours PartyElite viewing
Got my first win in Age of Wonder 4 today on the first realm with your help on all your videos! I love this game and your content! keep it up buddy!
I absolutely love the retry feature. allows me to fight the battles if AI goes bad.
Aww yeah been having so much fun with this game, excited to see your lets play
Warping wilds works well with the idea of a peaceful land turning chaotic.
What a coincidence that I was looking for this type of video and then 43 minutes ago this released. Wonderful timing.
Well, it IS an Age of Wonder(ful timing)s
Appreciate the faction fantasy and how you implemented it through the creation. Getting me in the right headspace for my play through!
Very fun first episode!! I liked how you explained the faction's lore, I'm excited to see where things go :)
Gar Gul is built like a hammer wielder - give him something worthy of his form!
That aside, poison weapons for close combat AND ranged weapons should be a priority for research and it’s super thematic!
I like using exclamation points!
Following and looking forward to this playthrough. Very interested.
Honestly got so excited when I saw you have a series going with this game. Can't wait to binge it!

Always leave I like when I watch your videos. Great start of LP. Looking forward to part 2. Gg :)
Looking forward to more content. Interesting game, thanks.
So good to see RP decisions in the game set up. It will be why I'm watching this playthru and not others.

new watcher here, love how you explain things man. Like the way you just have fun with the game as well.
I heard about age of wonders today and immediately went to party elite knowing that he'd do a playthrough and strategy videos to check it out
Thank you for the playthrough. I look forward to all the episodes.

One episode and I know I''m going to have to get this game. First, I will entwine myself in the Growth and its God-King Gur Gul the great.
I’m new to your channel, but damn. Full send that rp it definitely makes you stand out. 🤘
Please pump this series!
Excited to start this series and excited to start this game myself!
Looking forward to this new series

❤ omg i been waiting for you... You are the One.
good series so far
Papa Nurgle is very pleased with this playthrough!
I love how the different culture traits you pick generates an appropriate race description.
Can't wait to see the next episodes and to enjoy what you can do with this game
So looking forward to watching this!
A single croak unanswered, a spore in the wind, it begins.
I think you should do important battles, and do auto-resolve for the rest - only fighting those battles if the auto-resolve results in you losing high-tier or essential units.
I'm looking forward to this playthrough, Party. Good luck!
I think the frog being bigger than others fits with him being strong enough to weild that mighty hammer!

wow, i never thought of roleplaying in this game, maybe that's why custom realms and custom factions exists
Oh man, about time! I was so sad when you uploaded tutorials while everyone else put up LPs, glad to see ya here, though.
I am looking forward to watching this. At work atm though.
Those visuals are amazing
this is one of the playthroughs on UA-cam
Since they evolved from a Fungus, the city should be called Fungus or Black Mold
Amungus, AMOGUS
All the Age of Wonders videos
Nice please do more ! High culture next, please!
Man I had only played Total War Warhammer and then I saw your videos about this game ?! So I bought it and boom weekend gone! Lol I’m havin a blast playing this. Definitely wouldn’t have picked it up with out your videos being this good.
Very helpful, thank-you!

Rememeber you can click on of the buttons above the minimap to show you all the province advancements you can place, instead of checking one by one.
"I do like stayin' alive, stayin' alive" 🎵
looking forward to this
This is great! Looking forward to more of this playthrough. Gur Gul's a warrior, so I say stick him with the boss hammer. Gorepit's an ok name, but maybe something like Gorebog would fit the Growth better?
I am consuming and wish to continue doing so
More of this please!

A mould or fungus that has intelligence and so happens to be aligned with evil huh? I smell Warhammer connections.
Keep going with this
Cities can only take provinces that are 3 provinces away from the city itself, so you would need to place another city to utilize the wonder. (Unless you wait for a certain nature affinity trait that adds +2 to it)
Misinformation.
Nice series, hope I can keep up!
How about MildewPit instead of GorePit?
Mountaindew Pit
@@PUNishment777
Mountain Mildew!
Great video. It convinced me to buy the game and give it a shot.
Cool Nurgle playthrough
Suggestion for the city name! The Mouldering Pit, or the Pit of Decay. Suggesting it's a place where the conditions for growing fungifrogs are present.
So pumped to see you take this one on, wanted to ask though, are you planning on hitting rogue trader again when the beta drops on the 1st?
I was never good at games like this but I always have oodles of fun watching you play! Picked this one up to see if I can do better here than ck3 lol
take a shot every time he says "chase after"
Spreading that papa nurgle love .
more of this! *and* longer videos, if it's not too big of a bother :D
You would get much more value out of that berserk spell if you use the warhammer on Gur Gul and cast it on him too. Down the line it would also make for more intense battles if he leads the charge flanked by two berserkers (or war breeds, if you choose that tome)
I think you should go with the Xp. IIRC units improve quite a bit with higher levels.
"Rodents of Usual Size" huh ?
Feline huh. Id like some kitties
interaction for the interaction gods
This looks like a good campaign. Can I just ask is there a tutorial for the game?
Yeah there's a beginner realm with prompts as you play, it's basically a normal game with non-aggressive ai. 😊
its a deep complex game but very easy to pick up and play. the UI is excellent and you can get by just following the end turn prompts while you get your head around the mechanics
I tried a realm with Unlimited Power before, and it was a mistake. By late game, you have so much mana and combat casting points at your disposal, that you can sit there and just bombard the enemy army with nukes. At a certain point, bringing armies to the battlefield is just a formality!
You forgot to loot the stash just outside your city. The glimmering document...
Fingers crossed that you went with “Sporepit” for the capital city name!
I like the name gorepit it's fitting but I have a suggestion. Seeing how your leader is named Gur and how you've set him up as a barbarian God king, you should amend the name slightly and call it Gur Pit
It can be argued that the excessive force works if Gur Gul leads with Str along the lines of a general

The toadfolk in this game sounds like skeletons from Oblivion! I can't get it out if my mind!! Wtf XD
