Octolings were planned to be playable in the first game like the models suggest but Nintendo wanted to give a canon reason for playable Octolings, so it wasn't just "Here! You got Playable Octolings now!" and while they were planned to be playable from the start, I'm personally happier with OE because it was really amazing and it gave us the Octoling boy(who is precious and must be protected at all costs)
7:09 there is a map called BossStampKing_Bos. I’m guessing this was the early name for the Octostomp. Directly above it is BossBallKing_Bos. This could either be the early name for Octowhirl, or a whole new boss that was a mega version of an Octoball (much like how Octostomp is a mega version of an Octostamp). The BossMouthKing_Bos, I’m not sure, but I’ve never played Splatoon 1 so maybe you guys might know. Although BossBallKing and BossMouthKing would probably be pretty fun bosses if you ask me. They were probably just scrapped in development.
There was a version of Now or Never! that played during the demo at E3 that never got released. So far I haven't seen a sample of the audio without any game sounds or commentators.
I have seen the footage of Miyamoto Shigeru playing an early version of Splatoon just before E3 2015, it was one of the exhibits in the V&A videogames exhibition. The footage was about 20 minutes long, Miyamoto was playing on a map that looks like an early version of Urchin Underpass(not too sure). There are some changes made like when you get splatted your spirit or something will be carried back to spawn by a little drone, then the drone will dump you out as a drop of ink and then you turn back to a squid. Also the count down icons were changed, as well as the super jump icon of your teammates, the super meter was a straight vertical meter on the right of the screen. Sadly there wasn’t any footage for the wiiu gamepad screen as everything was recorded irl and Miyamoto himself was holding the gamepad. (I have no idea where to find the footage tho, I’ve not seen it anywhere outside the museum.)
I've NEVER played it, but have watched my friends and other UA-camrs to understand the entirety of it's storylines, plot, history, weapons, levels, modes, etc etc etc
