The encounter with 2 werewerewires isn't actually unused. if you recruit everyone and beat the game head back to castle town and enter the party dojo, talk to jigsaw joe and challenge him. If you've recruited everyone you should have the option to challenge what is called "Ch2 All Stars" in which you go back through several fights during the chapter, at the end you'll be faced against 2 werewerewires.

No clue how that one Lancer/Fake Lancer cutscene would've played into any part of the story (maybe as his intro when you first meet in castle town), but I still find it hilarious for some reason
Honestly it just seems like a test cutscene used on the new cutscene system that was designed for chapter 2, since chapter 1 used a less reliable system it seems.
Now that i think about it, are we sure that "Mustache Lancer" and regular Lancer are the same?
If you go to Lancer's room postgame in chapter 2 and check inventory, Lancer seems exhausted from jumping in and out of your pocket. However, he doesn't even seem tired if you check your pocket in the Mustache Lancer store.
I think the real Lancer is the one with a mustache, because if you keep a Lancer Cookie from c1, you won't be able to keep a second one. Lancer left the party to fulfill his dream of becoming a baker and left a stunt double to become King (, and more importantly, Susie's friend.)

I don't think the PureCrystal and TwistedSwd are scrapped- if they were, they wouldn't be visible in Malius's crafting menu. We'll probably get the crystal some time in a later chapter.

My theory is that the “scratching” refers to the sound of the hard drive that you’d often hear on older computers.

If you think of it possibly being a Gaster theory, where Gaster isn't as overly conscious as we believe, we see the dialogue during chapter 2, and if you go to the mysterious doors, 2 people are in front of it messing with the doors. One of them could've been scratching at the door to try to get it open, and the person heard it. But we would never know.

My little theory is that the unused monologue is from YOUR vessel you made in chapter 1.
Since it was thrown away at the start it’s probably in the void. And since the Thrash Machine came back this chapter the vessel is more than definitely coming back. Maybe the monologue will be used like the story of the true lab?

One mistake, or really an oversight, you made is that you DO have recruitment info for Chapter 1 darkners. All of them are just automatically recruited at the start of Chapter 1, you can read their info at the cafe. Jevil's is still unused though, guess at some point he was going to be able to be put into the cafe, or at least have a readable description?

We know that for some reason Spamton has some kind of connection to Noelle, since Noelle mentions the shop and dealmaker being familiar, as well as him being the final boss of the snowgrave route.

The double Werewerewire fight can be accessed in the final round of the final challenge of the party dojo. Also pretty sure if you touch the first cheese in the city with Noelle, you do get to fight a single Maus.

17:37 My personal theory is that this was a room made so that Toby could familiarize himself with Game Maker Studio 2, which has a completely different interface than Game Maker Studio 1, which was used to create Undertale and Deltarune Chapter 1. By extension, this could explain why old Deltarune Chapter 1 save files don’t work with Chapter 2, the formatting is different.
My guess is it's more of a test of 2.3, since Chapter 1 already was GMS2.

Actually, is impressive to look at all unused effort that Toby Fox does to his game, to then, delete it from game existence (except from the area where is stored).
This time around Toby programmed only 10% of the game overall. It’s possible a lot of these test rooms were made by other members on the team that helped with programming rooms and programming battles.

Notably, parts of the unused dialogue strings from chapter 1 are actually used in chapter 2. Ask Spamton about "fear" while in his shop, and he'll say one of the lines ("Can anyone hear me? Help...") before going on about not believing anything you see on TV.

Also if you hack it in, the Twisted Sword applies the Trance effect, but unlike the thorn ring, it's trance down. This might mean a difference in story, or it's just auto battle.

fun fact about the twisted blade: it is only equippable on Kris obviously, but it gives Kris the "trance" effect while wearing it.
The same as Noelle wearing the thorn ring. perhaps we'll eventually have to put Kris in a trance to keep him in the player's control.

There's an unused item called the Sky Mantle? Sounds kinda like the Shadow Mantle that Seam mentions when you give him Spamton NEO's Shadow Crystal.

Interestingly enough, the Sky Mantle can be obtained in Chapter 2 via game editing. It gives resistance to Electric/Holy attacks, and there are no comments from any party member attempting to wear it.

i still find it interesting that Noelle comments on spamton's Dealmaker - "It... seems familiar...?"
And I personally believe that the "can someone hear me? ... help..." strings refer to unused dialogue with Spamton, because he does say similar things, like with "[Oh God Help It Burns]" and begging that he is sorry / didn't mean to when he brings up the Knight.

There is something wrong here. The double Werewerewire encounter IS something that is found in the game, just not in chapter 2. You can find it at the battle dojo, Chapter 2 All Stars, and get to the end, then you fight both of them. It is a really, really hard fight, with lots of overlapping attacks.
It's not too hard, just remember to use ralsei to heal

While I dont remember all of the interactions from ch1 after the "pacifist" route in ch2 she seems to know about the dark world so I could genuinely see her being the Noelle or a secret boss or something of another chapter.
The Cyber battle backings could've been originally added to the music when each respective member of Sweet Cap'n Cakes was dancing

For the "strange unused text" it seems they are for Spamton, if you talk to him in the shop one of his dialogues has him saying "can anyone hear me..." or something very similar, so maybe it was for him

You can recruit normal Spamton if you edit your party to have Ralsei or Noelle, and in your Recruits list, he's shown as "Known Quantity #" with a seemingly random sprite. I can't load up my saves with debug mode enabled, but it would be interesting to see if you can put him in the Cafe.
Surprised that the unused effect/animation on normal enemies being hit by SnowGrave wasn't discussed in either video.
that is not unused I think. if you don't use snowgrave on berdly and if you played your cards right you can use snowgrave on a Maus I think but I 100% know that it is used and that I guess for convenience toby just made it do the same thing on every enemy.

4:57 maybe those tracks were meant to play when you got one of the robots dancing, probably having a track assigned to each of them.
If they don’t fit with the current final track, they were probably an early concept that was thought up before making a baseline track. Maybe they thought it would sound better to just have one track, as opposed to an empty sounding base
11:13 when you go to your castle town at the end of the game and check your recruits, you can actually see entries on some recruited from chapter 1, however it’s stated in the game that you can’t recruit certain enemies, so many jevil was intended to originally have not been one of the enemies you can’t recruit
11:08 I doubt that a battle against Jevil was planned for Chapter 2, I feel like this recruit entry was going to be in the game since Jevil joins your party in the form of either the Devilsknife or Devilstail after you beat him, so he would basically be recruited but as an extremely powerful item instead of an NPC that just sits around in castle town
I think the unused Sweet Cap'n K_K audio could have been inteneded to play whenever one of them was dancing and have the sounds correlate to the members.

also funnily enough there were unused light world susie sprites where her eyes were visible in chapter 1 too. it’s interesting that this pattern just keeps happening

The 2 Werewerewires encounter is used, its in the Challenges after bringing all to the Castle, 2 nre challenges appear, 1 is simon says with Task Manager an the other is a gauntlet of fights that ends in the 2 Werewerewires

The two werewires encounter isn't unused, it's in the CH.2 all stars dojo challenge.
I find it interesting how Jevil’s description for recruitment says he became the Devilsknife, the item you can only get by defeating him with violence. This is contradictory to recruitment in general, where you *have* to spare them to recruit.
Also, isn’t the first Maus fight a single Maus? So that one encounter actually is used?

@@zernek9199 The encounter, just before the moment where there are lots of chese there is a single chese, and intercating with it makes you chose if you want to touch the chese (I said yes and a Maus came, I don't know what happens if you don't touch it)

I don’t think the TwistedSword is as “unused” as it is not used yet. Perhaps the PureCrystal, and in turn, the TwistedSword are linked to finding enough Shadow Crystals. Perhaps it’s something to look out for in Chapters 6-7…

26:43 It had a White Ribbon because that's the default item for chests to have. If you were to summon a chest in a room which normally doesn't have one, It would always give you a White Ribbon. But if you were to place a chest in a room that already had a chest in it, the chest would give you another of what ever the original chest had. This is something to do with chest items being linked to what room you are in.

Not sure if someone already mentioned this, but if you touch the first cheese in the cheese maze room (interact with it and chose the option “I’m going to touch the cheese”) it will trigger a fight with a single maus
I'm betting all the extra test rooms was because Toby tried to change game engines for Chapter 2, but ended up going back to the original. They were probably made to test those game engines, which is why so many soft-lock.
