What I loved about Andy Serkis' performance is that Caesar's speaking voice is imperfect and almost disjointed. It's the perfect expression of a species that was perhaps millions of years away from being able to speak and is suddenly able to with a burst of intelligence, like the vocal chords are struggling against the sheer ability of this enhanced brain.
Makes sense considering we tried irl to get apes to make human sounds but they are physically incapable of making the same sounds we do, our heads and throats are very differently structured
Like trying to put together a dining room table and chairs from scratch and all you have to work with is a tree for lumber and some crudely shaped rocks for tools. You know what the end result should be, but getting there's gonna be a slog.
Animals aren't "on their way" to speaking, so there is not "millions of years away from" anything. Evolution, aside from being bunk pseudoscience, is not linear. It doesn't have goals or move in a specified direction. It doesn't start primitive and end with anthropomorphic talking animals. It doesn't "advance."
I like how the movie had the apes gradually learning how to speak over the course of the movie, rather than just starting off with them knowing how. It's a good little touch.
@@Nabbercus The way the actors act here is part of sensationalist Hollywood flair, as if to impress the viewer.
