He came damn close at that US Open.....same thing in 2007, he nearly forced a playoff with Angel Cabrera that year.....he's had some definite close calls in ones that he hasn't won.

If he didnt 3 putt 11th and bogey 17th. He might have won it or got into a playoff with Payne Stewart.

Probably would have won it in my opinion. That being said, with what happened four months later to Payne I would say this was the best possible outcome
