if one flight turns a person's lifestyle from a plastic-filled consumerist lifestyle into a zero-waste lifestyle, it'll be worth it. in the long run the pollution from the flight is far less than the waste she would've created for the rest of her life, had she not taken that trip
Gracias
I’ve done a test on an environment footprint program, the result shows that my biggest contribution on polluting the environment is travelling by airplane. Even just travelling by airplane once a year, it nearly ruins all my green efforts that I’ve done through the whole year. So...I’m asking everyone who are reading my comment, how many times do you travel by air per year?
Walk or bike or roller skate. Ski and ice skate in winter with snow/ice. Good for your figure and health too. Just don't go so far. And if you really need to go further away: bus or train.
I love influential women like this. I’m seeing more women promoting this lifestyle than men! Someone correct me if I’m wrong please! I’ll watch all the guys videos too! What do they all do with their vacuum cleaner stuff?
This would be so much less annoying and reach more people without the lecture. Tell people about the products and how much they save. I bought three fountain pens and haven't bought a pen in four years. I don't smoke cigarettes, i smoke a pipe. I buy clothes that aren't going to bust apart in a year (looking at you target) Literally no one cares about your outrage. They're too busy working for a living.
It is good to live with zero waste but, than we should close all the production lines of plastic and many people will lose their job and profit. In my country you cannot use your own container for food that sell on mesuring
You can't rely your decision to harm the environment less on the possibility that someone could lose their job. The economy changes and there will be new jobs in greener companies.
Helena Mauros I personally am vegan, which is a much more environmentally friendly lifestyle than any lifestyle that includes animal products. Being vegan makes it easier for me to shop plastic free, because I mainly buy from the veggie section. I use cotton bags for smaller things and I don't use any bag for bananas, salads and stuff like that. (Except for the one I carry all my groceries home ;) )I guess I also couldn't buy animal products in my own containers in my country either but I don't have to think about that, which makes the whole thing a lot easier. :)
If you close down plastic production, that doesn't mean money and jobs will disappear, but rather, will change. You could start seeing more composting organizations, more recycling facilities etc. the state of our planet is the most important thing right now, or we won't have a world to live/work in
It is not a simple task. It's good that young people concientice us this.
Bravo! Thank you for sharing your very insightful thoughts. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to your presentation. Bravo!
"On my flight home from south-east asia I was looking at that plastic cup ..." You definitely got the real priorities straight there.
Same here.

This is so scary. Great job explaining it.

I like your story. I make a lot of electricity. When I move I want to grow a lot of food and have less waste.
Refuse the straw? How about not getting the blended drink in the plastic cup too.
You did a beautiful job! 👏
Excellent Manuela!!!
Thanks Manuella
for nice job.
Próxima meta, aprender Ingles
great talk!!!
It was for sure.
Manuela, you should start a youtube channel :)
Wohoo! I finally started one
Great video, but the only way to reduce waste is to increase the cost of the product itself.
loved this! :)
This talk sounds almost exactly like Lauren Singer's...
+Kate Cook Indeed, but this seems the dramatically narrated version...
I thought there was a lot of taken from Bea Johnsons speach...
According to when the speeches were uploaded Lauren Singer was first, then Manuela Baron and Bea Johnson was after that.
But Lauren Singer was inspired by Bea Johnsons book so this is a mess x D
what does it matter everyone wants to tell their story and everyone inspires different people! lauren tone of command might not appeal to everyone!
Bea is bae
TRADUCIR AL. ESPAÑOL .
The real question is
WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ABOUT THE INCREASING POPULATION FIRST?
does the box smell?
nasima ahmed what box ? Composting don't smells
This is so easy to fix, but people are just too lazy to do what is needed.
Also, the environmental cost of a notepad vs a smart phone is a little silly.
but plastic does not 'biodegrade' ! I wish she had said that...
5-20% = 4 trucks not 3.5,that is why the world is screwed man

This isn't a sustainable lifestyle
Isaac Steimle yes, she had not enought time to speak about all things, like meat. Come on her channel !

I agree with the fundamentals of what she has to say wholeheartedly, but the smugness in her voice is just a bit annoying to listen to.
Robert Kojima Exactly. Smug bright-young-thing with one idea...
I agree. No matter how true or useful your information is, if you give it in such an annoying way it's much less effective.
