Hats off to the old timers like yourself you truly had the best country!!!! I'm 38 and growing up on the farm I never hung around anyone that was under 50 loved every minute of it
I had a 91 year old man sing this song to me when I drove him to his DR appt this morning. I laughed so hard, then he and the doctor were singing it together during his check up. His son is a famous rock star from the 70's and 80's. I will not name him for privacy reasons but now I know where his son got his talent.
My dad used to sing this while he was shaving -- along with a few other bawdy songs he learned in the Army Air Corps. We kids loved it -- he used to "bleep" the dirty parts and we would try to guess what the word was. hehe. My mother would pretend to be deaf.
My dad used to play this song on an old grammaphone to the lady next door to him when he was a kid just to drive her mad, she thought it was so rude :')
Love Buck Owens' humour! Years after this song he duetted with Dwight Yoakam on 'Bakersfield' which I believe was written by Buck. I, too, remember hearing 'Cigareets...' on the Jack Jackson radio show on Saturday mornings and I'm only a mere kid at 76.
I'm 44 been singing all my life, I've never heard the song. I just remember my grandpa singing it when i was young. Tonight for some reason I decided to search for it 😊
Yeah, I remember back when I was a young kid and my dad would sing this song. He thought it was amusing. My mom wasn't impressed. But the lyrics have a lot of Truth and humor in them. Early on in their marriage they both became born again Christians.
Back in 93 or 4, I found an orange CD on the side of the road in Phoenix, Arizona. I was still very little, enjoyed cartoons, feared that dark, loved this song. Not sure if it was the same artist, however, it sounded just as "classic" as this one. Man alive, has it been decades, and sure it had other songs on the CD, but this was the one I still remember today.
Interesting little factoid about the writer of this somt, Tim Spencer. Tim Spencer was one of the original members of the Pioneer Trio, along with Leonard Sly and Bob Nolan. They laer added Hugh Farr and renamed the group to The Sons of the Pioneers.
There was a "soundie"--sort of a pre-videotape film short that early 1950s local TV stations used to fill time--version of this. The performers were dressed as sort of Salvation Army types playing and singing this song in the street, and the drunk would come up and request that play something else ("Temptation," maybe).
I came here for JCWD. The lyrics just mumbled in my mind as his movie "Inferno". It took great effort to realize the sap of song and then digest without grimace.
Cigareets and whiskey and wild wild women! Remember this song from when I was a little kid. I think they played it on the Dr Demento radio program, if anyone remembers that.
Fu Goplus I beat the cigs, eight years ago...good on US!! I'm 80 now...can't catch the "wild, wild women"...but I DO know where the "third one" is!! LOL!! :)
Meant to be a Salvation Army street sermon- hence the female descant + tambourines. Still prefer Red Ingle + muppets... There is another version, not here, with a very authoritative preacher, and a drunk who keeps yelling “hey, play Temptation!” - probably the best
Alabama TV personality Cliff Holman, aka Cousin Cliff, would play the refrain while doing magic tricks and gags in his traveling live performances for kids in the sixties. Pretty heady fare for my five-year-old imagination. I devoted some years to research as I got older and found out the song is true.
Red Ingle actually did it before Sons of the Pioneers; in '48 if I remember right, it just got banned from all major public radio. Even if it's satire, cigarette companies sponsored most public stations back then. You can guess why they didn't like it. Also the wild women part is all I need hear, because I've seen alcohol ruins too many lives; one drink to me is one too many. I won't smoke simply because of both the expense and gradual detriment to one's health.
Drinking a very strong margherita in. Memory of the night I went to the cinema in santa cruz la palma and afterwards went to a nearby Mexican restaurant. The movie was the latest star wars and one memorable scene showed lots of laser guided anti spaxecrafr weapons on the plateau of a high mountain on some planet somewhere. I ordered a jug of margherita and after half of it, it struck me that the mountain plateau resembled the top of la palma which is just s mountain sticking out of the ocean. And the laser weapons resembled all the astronomical telescopes there. I thought of the story I coukd weave and coukdntv stop giggling
Great song, but I can't make out exactly what Don Rich (acting drunk) is saying at the end. Something about "your muzzle" or something like that. Anybody know for sure?
What the hell is this in Wikipedia then? - Cigarettes, Whiskey and Wild Women or Cigarettes, whisky et p'tites pépées is a 1959 French comedy film, directed by Maurice Régamey?
I used to listen to this as a kid, and I asked my mum "what's wild wild women?" She said "ask your father."
🤣🤣😂😂😂🤣😂😂🤣🤣😂🤣🤣
Ahah'
your fathers answer will be "look your mother"
THAT is HILARIOUS! :) :) Thanks for sharing, Stephen!
I wore out two of these records as a kid!
74 years old
Used to listen to this on record player when I was about 10.
Thank you.
Hats off to the old timers like yourself you truly had the best country!!!! I'm 38 and growing up on the farm I never hung around anyone that was under 50 loved every minute of it

The singer wouldn't have happened to have been Ronnie James dio would it
@@brianmaricle9646 Why was that your guess?
@@SiiriCresseybecause he comes from the same home town as me Cortland NY
@@brianmaricle9646 Ah. O.K. + you thought that's where Erin's experience happened?
@@SiiriCressey I was just thinking of rock stars from that era and for some reason Dio come to mind
My Dad would sing this song from time to time. Man it's good to have those memories.
awesome song.

how have I never heard this before?
You're a pup.
Ohh so long since i heard this Great Buck Owens Song...thanks Holger/Buck!!!
Ha! I played this for my British born sons. I was raised in NYC during the 50's & 60's. I remembered this song - such a different culture to the UK!
My dad used to play this song on an old grammaphone to the lady next door to him when he was a kid just to drive her mad, she thought it was so rude :')
I stopped smoking on the 23 of feb 2001,and im listening all these years later with a glsss of Connemara irish whiskey in my hand 😊

This was my Grandfather's favorite song, in fact I used to listen to it on a 78!!!!
I have one of those very 78's! One of my faves!
I'm 44 been singing all my life, I've never heard the song. I just remember my grandpa singing it when i was young. Tonight for some reason I decided to search for it 😊

I have an old "78" of this song, by Sons of the Pioneers. Can't play it now, of course!
That is probably the version my neighbor played back in the 40's. Loved it..I was maybe 5 or 6.LOL

I had a hunch Buck had a wild sense of humor, well...I got the proof now and really appreciate this video. Thank you 😊 💓 ☺!
First time I listened to this song in a film of Van Damme
Desert heat with Danny Trejo too lol
I use to hear this as kid around 6..a neighbor of ours played it often. Back in the 40's. Loved it then..LOL.
I'm in my mid twenties, but i heard this song in a movie when i was younger 😅 sick tune
Desert Heat the movie brought me here!. And I'm now here to stay! LOL
My dad used to sing this with his best friend
Never heard this until the '80's. In the early 2000's I mentioned it to a bloke in a pub who then attempted to sing it.
This song is what I'm going to quote when someone offers any of these.
Especially "Cigarettes are a blot on the whole human race".
I heard of this song few years ago (for the first time) from an American action movie. Trying to remember the name.
love this song reminds me of my father lol
Me too .. my dad had this on a 78rpm ..I still remember where it used to jump x
My daughter just reminded me about this song..my Dad would sing this..good memories.
Feels like most people who like this song enjoy at least two out of the three things. :-)
Whiskey and Women-I quit smoking
Anders Vallin
I'm a gay non smoking teetotaler
I'll take normal women, you can have the rest.
I would like to have 2 jiggers of whiskey, 3 cigarettes and a very wild wild woman(who is only wild at bed).
Peter Sellers on the muppet show as the Salvation Army band sang this with the muppets pure classic fun.
i love this song
Rest in peace Buck you are the greatest!!!
Greetings from Argentina!. Wonderful music.
Waving to Argentina, from Norway :) Im glad you liked my post! :)
My Dad sang me this everynight as a lullaby
That's awesome
Lol my Dad and my uncles would play their guitars and mandolin and sing this song at every family gathering. Made me miss my dad just now...
Very cool and heart warming
I heard this song on the Doctor Demento show, back in the '70s!
Bless our parents.
I remember this song, when I was a young boy abt. 5 years old ! :-D
Good ole Buck had one of those unique voices, no one can ever sound like him or copy, when you hear that sound from the voice you know it's Buck Owens
My parents taught me right! Grew up because of them allowing 2:40 me to explore.
Interesting little factoid about the writer of this somt, Tim Spencer.

I remember this earworm classic from the 1970s
super song
Reminds me of my grandad I fuckin love it👌
RIP my dear brother, who would launch into this at any random moment with no warning, causing consternation to all and sundry.
Tell you what. You keep the cigarettes and whiskey, I'll take the wild, wild women.
You bet?))
They've got a valid point.
Came here because of my ex as wanted this as his funeral song. I guess I was one of the last category

Yes, it took me so many years, I just found my song
one of my Grandpa's favorites
Danny Trejo sings this song in the movie Desert Heat, I never knew who sang it, figures it's Buck.
Looked for this comment! Had the song stuck in my head searched and found this Lol
Here because of Van Damn in Desert Heat
You understand it better when drinking
That first thing... it reminded me of Blazing Saddles...
My Grandfather used to sing this
I heard Cigarettes and Whiskey in 70's done by Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs
Cortelazzo brought me here
Ah shit, here we go again

This is my Grampa's favorite song, but he died early Tuesday morning, he was a pastor
Cornish?
What does that mean?🤔

@@F4T4LFUS1ON Haha
I'm sorry that he died and I'm sorry that he was a pastor too ...
Why can I not find this, my favorite version, anywhere else but here?
My Mom used to sing it with a cute bashful smile on her face :-)
Cigarettes Whiskey And Wild Wild Women Good Song
still relevant
I came here for JCWD.
The lyrics just mumbled in my mind as his movie "Inferno".
It took great effort to realize the sap of song and then digest without grimace.
Desert heat
This song is absolutely infectious. I love it almost as much as I love whiskey and wild wild women (I don't smoke tho).
Same
movie desert heat
Great movie old school . Van Dame and classic bike.... Cheers
An Indian motorcycle some liquor and two wild wild women, what more does Jean-Claude Van Damme need to make a movie great!. LOL
I first heard it performed by Peter Sellers on a Muppets segment. His take on it made me think that it probably was originally by Hank Williams Sr.
Cigareets and whiskey and wild wild women! Remember this song from when I was a little kid. I think they played it on the Dr Demento radio program, if anyone remembers that.
First time I heard this was on the Muppet Show with Peter Sellers.
I just skipped the cigarettes lol. Nothing is as exciting as a wild wild woman full of whiskey.
Wow only heard of this from Peter Sellers on the muppet show
beat the cigs ten years ago, no luck with the other two!
Fu Goplus I beat the cigs, eight years ago...good on US!! I'm 80 now...can't catch the "wild, wild women"...but I DO know where the "third one" is!! LOL!! :)
LOL.
I first heard this on a random Muppet Show clip, today 9/11/2024
My oma used to sing part to me but went "cigarettes and whisky and wild wild woman they'll lock you up and throw you in jail"
This version is great but you should hear Ron Johnson sing it. It's a favorite at Steve Hanson's bluegrass camp.
Here because of Martin & Lewis...Jerry was singing this in the skit 😂
I particularly like the insane soprano in the background. She slways makes me laugh
Don't know if you've done this one, but "Cigarettes and Whiskey and Wild, Wild women" by Sons of the Pioneers
I cooda used that advice when I was a teenager
My favourite version although Peter Sellers with the Muppets comes close. It's the soprano descant that gets me.
I'm not British, but I think that Peter Sellers was one of the most excellent British stars !
Never heard this version, had only heard it done by Jim Croce and then it was only the chorus.
My brother
Meant to be a Salvation Army street sermon- hence the female descant + tambourines. Still prefer Red Ingle + muppets... There is another version, not here, with a very authoritative preacher, and a drunk who keeps yelling “hey, play Temptation!” - probably the best

Came here from the Muppet Show
Came here from an episode of the Muppets with Peter Sellers.
My fev song when drunk
Ironic that I'm sitting here listening to this as somebody who smokes 8 packs a day
Dang! Eight packs? How do you find time for the whiskey and wild women? You must be an OG multitasker!
My nana brought me here
Does anybody remember this?
The Muppets brought me here
Peter Sellers!
@Kenson Ye It's the hand up your ass that makes you talk. 😉😂😂
I think I prefer the Peter Sellers version

Listening to the ending again just now I hear Don Rich saying "Oh, okay, just show us your muscles."
where can i find this song on cd. i looked on itunes
and amazon and they did not have anything listed.
Jim Croce 50th anniversary collection.
You gotta add a game of chess to every chorus
Is this the original? Or is this like a cover of a cover of a cover... who does the original?
+Jizz Fudgsickle: As Iknow ist the original from "The Sons of the Pioneers".
