Thank you for sharing, and I really appreciate that you don't cut out the setup and initiation issues you run into while printing. Often tutorial videos make things look far easier than what they really are, which can be frustrating when a person is much more inexperienced. Thank you again Keith!

Glad it was helpful! There are some really dumb mistakes I have cut out from the videos, but if I think it's something people might find useful, I'll leave it in ;-)
The videos are still relatively new to me - my preference is always the written article, but someone at Canon convinced me to give videos a go, since my personal dislike of watching photography videos is not so common these days ;-)

Thank you! This really helped. I was really struggling as to how to print large panoramas with my Pro-300. Your video solved several issues for me.

Nice to see how you deal with things when they go wrong

Thanks - I do sometimes re-shoot stuff, but it depends if I think it's a problem people might easily make themselves and that it helps with the overall aim of the video.
In this case the sensitivity of the rear feed to paper misalignment is definitely more than the top

Thanks - I'd definitely pick the top slot if I could, for very long prints

I find the different settings based on where you feed paper very odd. Same is still with modern printers like my P900 where you get different quality settings depending on which feed you choose. I've noticed that you can select "back feed" on P900 and it works fine with paper in sheet feeder and you get more quality options with some Epson papers.
I've not used canon printers and cannot say if the same goes for other printers too or not.

Yes, I look at the settings much more in the main written reviews, but there always seems to be some quite arbitrary aspects, whatever make.

Enjoyed this trial, Keith. As a new owner of the PRO-300, it's good to see its capabilities. On a separate subject, I'm looking at getting a nice, sturdy printer table and your one in the vid looks perfect! Could I ask a big favour, please? Would you be able to provide details of make/model and where you bought it from, please? Thanks in advance, Nigel

It's what's called a 'butcher's trolley' - ours was from John Lewis [UK] 12 years ago, from the kitchenware dept...
No idea of price, it was wedding gift ;-)

I am still hoping for some more videos on the Epson 900. This would be fantastic!

Get me a P900 and I will - what did you want to know?
There is a very detailed written review on the site, along with articles (remember, the videos are frequently there to supplement the main written articles)
I only get some printers for a limited time - I'm not allowed to live in a printer warehouse ;-)

Keith, just came across your channel (new subscriber). Love the panorama prints, but wonder how do you display these? Do you have them custom framed? Thank you for these informative videos.

      Thanks!
At the sizes in the videos it's often a bit of a demonstration for whatever printer I'm doing it for. However, for larger ones, which tend to go in offices and the like, I get them laminated onto foam board (or similar) and then have a custom frame made - not needing glass or a back board, it's relatively inexpensive.
For some larger canvas ones I've had a local framer make a custom stretcher. I've a 10 foot long canvas print of the Oregon coast on the wall outside my office - it was printed on 24" width glossy canvas, so didn't need varnishing.

Great review! Why does the "better" imagePROGRAF PRO-1000 have a max print size of only 17" x 22" while the PRO-300 can do longer 13" x 39"?

it doesn't anymore. The page limit was a concern noted in my 2015 review. However, firmware updates have pushed this to at least a metre

Thanks Keith, I need to try this on my 300. The advanced paper setting misfeed issue I would not have figured out... being anal I would also want the print to be in the middle of the paper... having equidistant margins.

    • @KeithCooper
      @KeithCooper  3 роки тому +2

Do take care with the feeding - the rear slot is a lot easier to slightly misfeed (as I noticed ;-) )
I'd not tested this paper with different media settings, but I'd pick the top slot and HAP media setting if it produced good B&W results

I know you don’t compare or recommend printers, But (lol) if you where to purchase your own printer and had to pay for your own inks what A3+ and A2 printer would be on your shelf?

I have a 17" P5000 here. If it wasn't so heavy I'd bring it down and do a video about it. It has a powered roll feed, vacuum paper feed and a paper cassette (my review on the Northlight site long pre-dates me making videos)
It is getting on a bit, so I'm curious to see what replaces it (think 17" version of the P7500)
Canon gave up on this style of printer with the rather good iPF5100, which was never updated.
BTW, it needs to be a very solid shelf...
      Previous large (44") printers I've owned were a Canon iPF8300 and Epson SP9600 and SP7880 (24")
