I miss these cartoons so much. It's the sound effects that get me every time. That diving board spring sounds has me dying. The punches that sound like atomic explosions. Classic.
Funny thing, if Spike was able to concentrate he'd noticed there Droopy was holding the Shillelagh with to hands but he was holding one of his hands XD
I remember seeing this episode on Cartoon Network back in the 90's, and I never caught on at the time that Spike had an Irish accent. I also thought that whatever he called the baseball bat sounded made-up, but now I realise that it was probably a Gaelic term.
When I watch Droopy’s, and also Walt Disney’s cartoons, I hear characters that I seemed similar to Thompson, but later in my life, I realized THAT’S HIS VOICE OMEGAD😮
His most notable character on Fibber McGee was Wallace Wimple, whom Tex Avery actually based Droopy off of, so its quite fitting he would voice Droopy in some of his shorts.
Actually, Both Spike and Drippy, as well as Droopy, are ALL voiced by the legendary Bill Thompson. You may know him for the following roles: Scrooge McDuck (Scrooge McDuck and Money, 1967) The White Rabbit, Dodo (Alice in Wonderland, 1951) King Hubert (Sleeping Beauty, 1959) Uncle Waldo (The Aristocats, 1970) Jock, Bull, Daschie, Joe (Lady and the Tramp, 1955) Professor Owl (Wonderful World of Disney, 1954) Mr. Smee (Peter Pan, 1954) Little John, Cousin George (Tom and Jerry, 1957-58) and… Ranger J. Audubon Woodlore, Spike (the bee), Voice of Child Psychology, Grandpa Duck, J.J. Fate (Walt Disney’s Donald Duck, 1937-1967)

I mentioned in another video; that spike is not smarter than droopy. For the simple reason if spike was more observant; he would actually be able to outsmart droopy. The problem is that spike doesn't pay enough attention to himself or his surroundings to make clear judgements: which is why whenever he tries to sabotage droopy he ends up backfiring on himself. For example he tries to get droopy by rigging up a shotgun trap; he makes two big mistakes, one is that he rigged the trap at head level for himself instead of droopy, which means even if droopy triggered the trap it would have hit him anyway. And second he wired the trap to be pulled tightly if droopy opened the door all the way. Spike never got his owner's fortune because he just isn't smart enough to realize his sabotages himself.
"Spike, I don't have a shillelagh." 😂😂😂Just so damn funny the way Droopy says "shillelagh"! Man! I miss these cartoons!!😂😂😂
