Since the phrase is not explicitly in the Bible, we first have to define what a soul tie even is. Until that happens saying it is or it is not biblical doesn’t do anything. For example would someone describe the idea of a soul tie in comparison with the idea of being unequally yoked with an unbeliever (2 Cor 6:14). If we say a soul tie is only related to the joining that happens in sex as conveyed in 1 Cor 6:16, then yes soul ties are a biblical concept. Which means the only Godly soul tie is between a married husband and wife. But to keep it scriptural instead of saying soul ties we can say “ungodly joining of the body”. Which in this case is why Paul is telling the church of Corinth about this truth because it’s important and he wants them to flee sexual immorality because it’s a sin against the body and our body is not our own so we must honor the Lord with our body. Soul ties are absolutely Biblical. It may not be as literal as we may prefer, but, the concept is evident. To be clear-the Bible doesn’t say not to smoke cigarettes or Gamble, but, when we read and are given understanding by way of the Holy Spirit, we know God’s heart concerning these matters. However, here's something to think about ... look at every country on this planet, regardless of what language that country speaks as its primary language, regardless of the culture, regardless of the primary race... every country on the planet is in sync on one thing - the date! That date that we are all synced on, is broken down to two sides of an event, which is Christ on this earth. Great topic to talk about on the first day of the new year! Even if we go back 5000 years ago, it's still referenced as B.C. For your first question, well - today (on this planet) we all have the freedom of either defining our own truth of aligning up with a Truth that isn't emotional, or self beneficial. I often have to stand corrected (with my behavior) when I align myself with the way we are called to live our life. It's for our own benefit, and for those who have put their trust in Christ, it's not looked at as a sacrifice. @@TboneWTF You bring up great discussion points man, but let me share a story. I'm an engineer, so my whole career is around the mindset of logical (in come cases, scientific) truths. Having been on this planet for quite a few years, i've learned that everything cannot be solved with my "engineering" mindset. Im an extremely logical person and that's a gift, it's not a super power. I never really knew the "gift giver" until I found myself struggling to use my "logical mind" go get un-addicted from some things I'm not going to mention here. Long story short, the Lord removed those addictions in a moment, it was clearly Not me, so I learned that Everything bows down to God... I can't tell you what formula or method He used, except that it wan't any of man's own logic or will. I still enjoy doing things that require that "technical mindset", more than I do anything else. But along side of that, I know the personal experience I went thru, which helped me define how much I'll lean in on science and technology. Hope that made sense.
Another word for soul I think would be a person’s heart which would be their emotions, thoughts, desires, will, personality, spirit, etc. Anyone who is married knows by experience that a man and woman’s heart are most certainly knit together and become more deeply knit the longer you have been together and more trials you have gone through. I think that is a biblical concept that people’s hearts are knit together in love. Why do you think a divorce is so traumatic and something that breaks God’s heart? I would say it has such a harmful effect because the two people’s spirits/souls/hearts are knit together. I know the Bible doesn’t use the word soul tie but that does not mean the concept does not exist. The Bible is a guide on how to correctly think and live in a right relationship with God and people and is sufficient in what it speaks about but that does not mean it speak about everything. There's a HUGE problem with trying to use this verse to present "soul ties" as a real thing. Most people who teach "soul ties" almost always teach it as something sexual in nature. "The soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David" is a phrase from the Bible, 1 Samuel 18:1..THAT'S A SOUL TIE. The Holy Spirit led my deliverance and one of the things I had to do was to break soul ties. I have a testimony that soul ties are as real as the AIR we breath. STOP TEACHING THINGS YOU KNOW NITHING ABOUT. I could not get over my ex even though I didn't love her and wanted nothing to do with her. She practiced witchcraft and it felt as if she was living in my head until I went on a fast to break the soul tie after the Holy Spirit revealed to me that our souls were tied. I never thought about her after that. THIS IS A DOCTRINE OF DEVILS!
We become one Spirit with Jesus. Not another human. We only become one flesh with whomever we sleep with. This is why scripture says that whoever can't control their desires should get married. When we sin against our bodies by committing sexual immorality, we defile the temple of the Holy Spirit. Which doesn't glorify God who redeemed us through Jesus Christ. This doesn't create a soul tie. As a member of Christ's body, we aren't to desecrate ourselves by practicing sexual immorality. The children of disobedience did this to God when they joined themselves to the women of Moab and were led astray to serve Baal of Peor. As a result, 24,000 died. Nowhere in scripture does it say we create soul ties. Becoming one flesh isn't becoming one soul. We are joined to the Lord as one spirit because we spiritually died with Him and are spiritually made alive in Him and recipients of His Holy Spirit. Our life is hidden in Christ now. As new creations, we live in Christ so we cannot be partakers of sexual immorality. We must flee from it.
The Bible DOES NOT mention Everything that is right or wrong. The Bible itself says: Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. John 21:25. The Bible is only one way God speaks to us. God also speaks to us through visions, dreams, prophetic words and so on. Relying only on the Bible is not enough. We need the Holy Spirit with the evidence of tongues. It is just that, no soul tie needed. You can't enter any situation without your emotions being affected so being angry, sad, longing for said person is what they are selling as soul ties when it's simply having emotions for someone you've dealt with. That's a non sequitur, you're attempting to prove soul ties are a real by saying equations are true. And since scripture doesn't speak to equations which are true, soul ties which also aren't spoken to can be equally true as well.

What is soul? Scripture says the gift of God is eternal life so a soul can't be some kind of living entity by it's own power much less it's design. Jesus spoke of body and soul being destroyed in hell so that supports scripture that says the wages of sin is death. I believe a soul is the very being and character of a individual and it is who they are and when coupled with a flesh and blood body or a glorified body at the resurrection makes a complete individual. With verse 17 isn't it that the first part is a quote such as to say you are one? Because then we would have to describe what "one flesh" means. Furthermore, the latter part implies the possibility to be of one spirit with someone. Here it is specifically the Lord. Or is the implication that the one with spirit only speaks of the Lord? My main issue here would be the reason for comparison. It seems as though there can be an intimate joining between individuals as in marriage. Just as we are one with Christ it is just as possible to be one with a harlot. Furthermore I ask myself, why use the example of a harlot? A promiscuous women who is definitely not being influenced by the Spirit of the Lord? Why not just a wife? Is there a great consequence pertaining to oneness...
It's not so much as you are tied to someone else's soul and they are just dragging you around but the concept here is going a little bit deeper and if that is the context of where people are taking it from they are missing the point. The point as far as a soul tie for instance can come from two places, thought and deed. Jesus said in Matthew 5:27-28 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. Everyday we put in our minds someone that is not ours, we put someone we see on TV, some person at our job, some person we know in our minds that God has not allowed us to have but we manufacture a fantasy in our minds thinking what it would be like with this person, what if I had just one meeting with this person, or even....what if I had one night with this person, so we begin to begin to think about this person initimately, emotionally and even sexually, as we have made our minds TIE to that person, we love the fantasy other than the reality, we love the fact that If I only had one night with Halle Berry, I could be a great husband and she would come to the Lord and she would be submissive not knowing that Halle Berry herself has her own views AWAY FROM THE LORD AND YOU ARE CREATING YOUR OWN FANTASY IN YOUR MIND AND TIEING YOUR MIND TO IT! We are growing together in this exchange. When sex is outside of marriage, notice how schizophrenic people are because a whole host of people are going into that one person. So therefore you have the spirit of depression from one person, the spirit of anger from another person the spirit of whoredom from another going into that one person. That's creating a tie. We don't know the issue of demonic man how he got so many demons other than he was by the graves and those spirits got into him but spirits did enter into him. Different personalities he did inhabit. In the same way, who you are with, who you are around especially who you have sex with can infect your soul and that God forbid if you have a child will in some way infect them too. As my pastor would say in Genesis 1:24-25 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed. The word for cleave is saying the word to melt. When you divorce you are separated from and rip apart a piece of that person. That person was apart of you and damage has been done to that person. You are TIED to that person you created a soul tie to that person in the bond of marriage, sex can make a soul tie that person is gone but left you with whatever issues are in their lives inside of you and the worse part....you are still trying to make it work with them that they have already moved on but you have created a tie with this person through the deed! So if they aren't actually tied to your flesh... that means they are tied together in the spirit and even though their flesh is separate, it's combined together in the spirit. That is a soul--tie. The reason he says you are one 'spirit' is because God is spirit, not flesh. You clearly do not do deliverance brother. If you did a few hundred exorcisms you would know soul ties are indeed real.

Next, I believe 1 Corin. v18 provides more clarification to sexual immorality or (???soul ties???), I believe that verse provides clarification. You cannot quote scripture to prove your doctrine. Yeshua is the Word of God as declared in Revelation chapter 19. This implies that He is the God of the old Testament and the God of the New Testament, in essence the Creator God for His creation and purpose. Genesis clearly defines the purpose of the human, body, soul and Spirit and these three must be inline with God our Father, Yeshua, Jesus Christ as our creator and God the Holy Spirit. The soul tie is implied of sexual communications that happen within sex between a husband and wife. Sex with prostitutes, because sex bonds, that's the implication. I really hope this “teacher” simply lacked understanding and did not intentionally lead others astray because woe unto him if the latter. The physical and literal term “soul tie” may not literally be enlisted in biblical language, but Colossians 2:2 talks about a healthy type of soul tie stating “that their hearts may be encouraged, being KNIT TOGETHER in love.. etc.” How can they be knit together? The term soul tie signifies pair bonding. It does NOT mean anyone has your soul bound, tied up and held captive in their basement, it means you have formed a bond with someone, and you must sever unhealthy bonds, or biblically it is called “being unequally yoked”. The Bible uses much shepherding language because of the time period it was recorded. To be yoked, has nothing to do with eggs, but instead is the term for binding, chaining, or attaching cattle, sheep, or other herded animals together in order to steward them along. When the warning in 2 Corinthians 6:14 states “Be not unequally yoked together with unbelievers…” it is talking about creating ties, connections, bonds or attachments with others, in this specific mention, unbelievers, but this text shows us that these attachments are possible. When someone is upset over a breakup and in grief, you may hear them say something like “I was so attached to them”, meaning their spirit had formed attachments to someone, and now you grieve the loss, by way of the bond that was formed, and now has had to be severed. A soul tie is not permanent. And the Bible also doesn’t specifically use the term “pair bonding” but we know through science and psychology that this is actually a thing, whether you call it by another literal term or not, “soul-tie” is just a term used to describe something that happens unseen in the physical realm, but very real in the spiritual sense. Why did God warn us against being unequally yoked with unbelievers? Out of protection for us. The problem with calling it a soul tie is that it makes it seem as if it is a mystical, mysterious concept and as if it is near impossible to get rid of the connection to the person. It is not. As you stated, people are talking about the mind, will, and emotions. We can change our minds, will, and emotions. We have the power of choice. We can control your thoughts and actions. If it is difficult to do so, the Holy Spirit will glad help us if we simply ask Him as often as we need to.

Since the phrase is not explicitly in the Bible, we first have to define what a soul tie even is. Until that happens saying it is or it is not biblical doesn’t do anything. For example would someone describe the idea of a soul tie in comparison with the idea of being unequally yoked with an unbeliever (2 Cor 6:14). If we say a soul tie is only related to the joining that happens in sex as conveyed in 1 Cor 6:16, then yes soul ties are a biblical concept. Which means the only Godly soul tie is between a married husband and wife. But to keep it scriptural instead of saying soul ties we can say “ungodly joining of the body”. Which in this case is why Paul is telling the church of Corinth about this truth because it’s important and he wants them to flee sexual immorality because it’s a sin against the body and our body is not our own so we must honor the Lord with our body. Although the bible is filled with truths around places, wars, etc. that history also serves as a co-witness, It's never been a game of "proving that the bible is correct". However, here's something to think about ... look at every country on this planet, regardless of what language that country speaks as its primary language, regardless of the culture, regardless of the primary race... every country on the planet is in sync on one thing - the date! That date that we are all synced on, is broken down to two sides of an event, which is Christ on this earth. Great topic to talk about on the first day of the new year! Even if we go back 5000 years ago, it's still referenced as B.C. For your first question, well - today (on this planet) we all have the freedom of either defining our own truth of aligning up with a Truth that isn't emotional, or self beneficial. I often have to stand corrected (with my behavior) when I align myself with the way we are called to live our life. It's for our own benefit, and for those who have put their trust in Christ, it's not looked at as a sacrifice. I had some bad years in my life where I was aligning myself with something that was trying to kill me, so I appreciate the Truth that leads to eternal life!

@@TboneWTF You bring up great discussion points man, but let me share a story. I'm an engineer, so my whole career is around the mindset of logical (in come cases, scientific) truths. Having been on this planet for quite a few years, i've learned that everything cannot be solved with my "engineering" mindset. Im an extremely logical person and that's a gift, it's not a super power. I never really knew the "gift giver" until I found myself struggling to use my "logical mind" go get un-addicted from some things I'm not going to mention here. Long story short, the Lord removed those addictions in a moment, it was clearly Not me, so I learned that Everything bows down to God... I can't tell you what formula or method He used, except that it wan't any of man's own logic or will. I still enjoy doing things that require that "technical mindset", more than I do anything else. But along side of that, I know the personal experience I went thru, which helped me define how much I'll lean in on science and technology. Hope that made sense.

Another word for soul I think would be a person’s heart which would be their emotions, thoughts, desires, will, personality, spirit, etc. Anyone who is married knows by experience that a man and woman’s heart are most certainly knit together and become more deeply knit the longer you have been together and more trials you have gone through. I think that is a biblical concept that people’s hearts are knit together in love. Why do you think a divorce is so traumatic and something that breaks God’s heart? I would say it has such a harmful effect because the two people’s spirits/souls/hearts are knit together. I know the Bible doesn’t use the word soul tie but that does not mean the concept does not exist. The Bible is a guide on how to correctly think and live in a right relationship with God and people and is sufficient in what it speaks about but that does not mean it speak about everything. That is why we often are told to use common sense, discernment, wisdom, etc.

The Holy Spirit led my deliverance and one of the things I had to do was to break soul ties. I have a testimony that soul ties are as real as the AIR we breath. When we sin against our bodies by committing sexual immorality, we defile the temple of the Holy Spirit. Which doesn't glorify God who redeemed us through Jesus Christ. This doesn't create a soul tie. As a member of Christ's body, we aren't to desecrate ourselves by practicing sexual immorality. The children of disobedience did this to God when they joined themselves to the women of Moab and were led astray to serve Baal of Peor. As a result, 24,000 died. Nowhere in scripture does it say we create soul ties. Becoming one flesh isn't becoming one soul. We are joined to the Lord as one spirit because we spiritually died with Him and are spiritually made alive in Him and recipients of His Holy Spirit. Our life is hidden in Christ now. As new creations, we live in Christ so we cannot be partakers of sexual immorality. We must flee from it.

The Bible DOES NOT mention Everything that is right or wrong. The Bible itself says: Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. John 21:25. The Bible is only one way God speaks to us. What is soul?
Scripture says the gift of God is eternal life so a soul can't be some kind of living entity by it's own power much less it's design.
Jesus spoke of body and soul being destroyed in hell so that supports scripture that says the wages of sin is death.
I believe a soul is the very being and character of a individual and it is who they are and when coupled with a flesh and blood body or a glorified body at the resurrection makes a complete individual.
Therefore it sounds like soul ties are a load of BS.
With verse 17 isn't it that the first part is a quote such as to say you are one? Because then we would have to describe what "one flesh" means.
Furthermore, the latter part implies the possibility to be of one spirit with someone. Here it is specifically the Lord. Or is the implication that the one with spirit only speaks of the Lord?
My main issue here would be the reason for comparison. It seems as though there can be an intimate joining between individuals as in marriage. Just as we are one with Christ it is just as possible to be one with a harlot.

What is a Soul Tie?
It's not so much as you are tied to someone else's soul and they are just dragging you around but the concept here is going a little bit deeper and if that is the context of where people are taking it from they are missing the point. The point as far as a soul tie for instance can come from two places, thought and deed. Jesus said in Matthew 5:27-28 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:

Then there is the deed. Sex is more than just something you do it's who you are. When having sex with a person it is a bond made with that person. When engaging in sexual activity, two are transferring spirits with one another that is why it should be within the bounds of marriage because through that exchange I am knowing her and she is knowing me. We are growing together in this exchange. When sex is outside of marriage, notice how schizophrenic people are because a whole host of people are going into that one person. So therefore you have the spirit of depression from one person, the spirit of anger from another person the spirit of whoredom from another going into that one person. That's creating a tie. We don't know the issue of demonic man how he got so many demons other than he was by the graves and those spirits got into him but spirits did enter into him. Different personalities he did inhabit. In the same way, who you are with, who you are around especially who you have sex with can infect your soul and that God forbid if you have a child will in some way infect them too. As my pastor would say in Genesis 1:24-25 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed. The word for cleave is saying the word to melt. When you divorce you are separated from and rip apart a piece of that person. That person was apart of you and damage has been done to that person. You are TIED to that person you created a soul tie to that person in the bond of marriage, sex can make a soul tie that person is gone but left you with whatever issues are in their lives inside of you and the worse part....you are still trying to make it work with them that they have already moved on but you have created a tie with this person through the deed!
The scripture you posted you were on point and correct but if that's the surface and taking just that scripture, they are missing the point and cherry picking scriptures. I believe there are ties you can make mentally, emotionally and intimately with a person that it's hard to shake. The physical and literal term “soul tie” may not literally be enlisted in biblical language, but
Colossians 2:2 talks about a healthy type of soul tie stating “that their hearts may be encouraged, being KNIT TOGETHER in love.. etc.” How can they be knit together? The term soul tie signifies pair bonding. It does NOT mean anyone has your soul bound, tied up and held captive in their basement, it means you have formed a bond with someone, and you must sever unhealthy bonds, or biblically it is called “being unequally yoked”. The Bible uses much shepherding language because of the time period it was recorded. To be yoked, has nothing to do with eggs, but instead is the term for binding, chaining, or attaching cattle, sheep, or other herded animals together in order to steward them along. When the warning in 2 Corinthians 6:14 states “Be not unequally yoked together with unbelievers…” it is talking about creating ties, connections, bonds or attachments with others, in this specific mention, unbelievers, but this text shows us that these attachments are possible. When someone is upset over a breakup and in grief, you may hear them say something like “I was so attached to them”, meaning their spirit had formed attachments to someone, and now you grieve the loss, by way of the bond that was formed, and now has had to be severed. A soul tie is not permanent. And the Bible also doesn’t specifically use the term “pair bonding” but we know through science and psychology that this is actually a thing, whether you call it by another literal term or not, “soul-tie” is just a term used to describe something that happens unseen in the physical realm, but very real in the spiritual sense. Why did God warn us against being unequally yoked with unbelievers? Out of protection for us. If the modern language would say, “Do not form unhealthy and imbalanced soul ties with unbelievers”, it would carry the same connotation.

The problem with calling it a soul tie is that it makes it seem as if it is a mystical, mysterious concept and as if it is near impossible to get rid of the connection to the person. It is not. As you stated, people are talking about the mind, will, and emotions. We can change our minds, will, and emotions. We have the power of choice. We can control your thoughts and actions. If it is difficult to do so, the Holy Spirit will glad help us if we simply ask Him as often as we need to.
I should add though, that a sexual union is a spiritual union. For example, if one unites with someone who is possessed by the enemy one can also become possessed.
