I'm happy to see you two continuing the series. It only gets better, and you've been super observant so far. There's so much detail in this show, you could watch it dozens of times and still catch something new.
Another excellent episode. This season just does not miss. So many great jokes, as well as a good introduction to the rest of the Planet Express crew. Phil Lamarr is great as Hermes, and Zoidberg is such a gem. The sweet moment at the end of the episode with Fry and Leela really ties it together, too.
If you guys remember from the pilot, human civilization was basically destroyed twice in the thousand years Fry was frozen. It's not surprising some information was lost.
That was a good deal. Paid almost $1100 for my first one in 1998. Sold it for about half that in early 2000(used it to preorder a PS2 since it was going to have a built in DVD player, and saved my DVD’s for the 5 months until I had a player for them again. $450 for a system to play games AND watch DVD’s seemed to good to be true at the time).
7:15 This may be my favorite Bender line in the series, and they whipped it off, second episode! Whatever the case, it's definitely my favorite line to shout in spiteful fury (just replacing 'theme park' with whatever I feel has wronged me).
I happy to see you are watching this show, I have seen every episode. The show is overall funny, but there are some deeper stories running through it later. I also use that motivational poster Lela had in the first episode whenever I have to take a job that is not 100% of what I want or I don't feel like going to work: "You Gotta Do, What You Gotta Do"🙂
One of my favorite things about this show is when the writers interpret how the future might interpret modern day. Not only is it humorous to see just how wrong they are in this fictional future, but it also makes you consider how wrong we might be about our real life interpretations of the past by putting it into perspective.
I think it's so funny how they think the moon's craters are due to gophers.🤣 Btw, fun fact: The flag on the moon has actually been bleached white from the sun's radiation.
Still so excited for this. I can’t wait to see if you catch all the jokes. Years later I still catch stuff I missed the dozens of times I watched through it.
Hey dvd players were expensive and not readily available for everyone back then. I remember our first DVD player was a ps2 in 2001/02 then my parents bought one of the big expensive home theater systems that had dvd and vhs. I can only imagine how much that went for in 2001/02
DVD players existed but they were sooooo expensive in 1999. Most people were content watching tapes until the price came down. Thr verge price was over 1000 dollars in 99. I trying my famoly got one in 2001 or 2002. I remember watching the live action Scooby-Doo movie on DVD and Cheaper by The Dozen. That movie staring Steve Martin and he has like a million kids, and Like Mike, the movie where Lil Bow Wow played an orphan who finds Michale Jordan shoes and becomes am NBA star
Did you know that the claw machines are program to have enough stregth to grab something once every 25+/- grabs. That way they still give out prizes but not to much to avoid giving out too much so that they still make money.
read where it says: "Lander returned to this site by Historical Sticklers Society" Subtle injoke, It's based on fact lander top will launch and jettison after astronauts leave.aa
British people have long been primed and ready to answer the 'who were the other astronauts' question thanks to diligent attendance at pub quizzes. The two astronauts are of course, Buzz Aldrin and (checks Wiki) the former Irish Republican Brotherhood leader Michael Collins. Americans, attend more pub quizzes and learn!
At some point in my life i was bored and deciphered the alien letters you can see many times in the show. In case some one wants to know what it says at : 4:50 "Tasty Human Burgers"
Why does the lunar-lander still have the pod on top? Didn't the astronauts always use it to return back to Earth? Or was there a mission that didn't make it back in Futurama?
do canadians just not have the Fox network also Futurama doesn't exist beyond the Fox network, don't go looking for it, no matter how medicore it might be after half the writing team leaves for five years, and definitely do not watch anything after that.
Word of advice: if you feel so inclined to skip an episode, if only to keep other plates spinning, do NOT bother with the Olympics episode in season 3(?) if you can. It's...not just unfunny, but thoroughly repugnant. Jokes about gender are the one area this show consistently falls flat in, and this episode is the absolute bottom of the barrel. If you skip something, make it this one.
I'll host my own reaction show. With Blackjack and women of accommodating morals!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 but without the blackjack
In fact, forget the show.
in fact, forget about UA-cam
Don't forget that civilization was destroyed twice between 2000 and 3000. Lots of historical records were probably lost, eaten, or burned for fuel lol
When I was unemployed for 6 months, I ate most of my bank records.
Eaten 😄
I forget if it's canon or was just mentioned in the commentary but the technology was either lost or was going to be lost. lul
It's so weird watching someone watch this show that hasn't seen every episode like 15 times.
By which I mean it is very refreshing. I'll be sticking around to see the rest!
Their commentary is pretty bad...most people add something to the experience analysis wise but not these 2...

Actually watching The Matrix on DVD at a friend's house is what inspired me to get my first DVD player. It was a cheap one. Only $400.

@@coffeeveins I used my PS2 for all my movie watching in college. Unfortunately there are some discs that didn't play on it.
I remembered Bender’s folk music thing, but I’d forgotten it happened this early in the series.
7:15 This may be my favorite Bender line in the series, and they whipped it off, second episode! Whatever the case, it's definitely my favorite line to shout in spiteful fury (just replacing 'theme park' with whatever I feel has wronged me).
I can’t wait til they get to the first “Bite my shiny metal ass”.
In Mexico we use that phrase all the time. 😂
The writers have 3 phd's and 7 masters degrees.

Seeing actual couple disagreements on real life in reactions when it's not meant to be funny is awkward af....the timing is off
This cartoon is so rich in details and almost hilariously funny jokes. Excellent review!
I think it's so funny how they think the moon's craters are due to gophers.🤣
Btw, fun fact: The flag on the moon has actually been bleached white from the sun's radiation.
Not surprising. I see that happen to stuff here on earth. Got a parking ticket once because the sign was bleached and I had no idea what it said.
Sure, scoff all you like, but the moon gophers will have the last laugh! You’ll see! You’ll all see!

Amy is cute luv her and her VA Lauren Tom! Man i love to visit the moon
It's sad that more people than not are always going to know her best as Julie from Friends than as Amy or anything else...

@@3DJapan Yup, it was by far the cheapest DVD player on the market
Can't wait for more Dr. Zoidberg!
As far as history goes remember civilization was destroyed twice.
Currently watching the season 2 episode Brannigan, Begin Again.👍
The Voice of Hermes is also Ollie Williams of Family Guy and Samurai Jack. Who name is Phi Lamarr
And he's also Marvin from Pulp Fiction!
And John Stewart/Green Lantern
