It's hard to say for sure, it winds up to 50 smoothly then even though I know I'm going faster (you can hear it in the vid) the speedo stays around 50 then it flicks up to 70 & back like a windscreen wiper. Id like to get one of those SIP ones but they'r so pricey. I've been looking at GPS speedos for boats, maybe they can be fitted? But the scoot cruises nicely at 60 all day & tops out (or I chicken out) around 72ish. but I don't ride like that usually, I tend to look after the motor & keep it at an easy 50/55.
I use an app on my mobile, and have a phone holder on my legsheild glove box. with your set up, a phone wouldn't look out of place under your wind sheild. The apps are really accurate, GPS n all that. I've tested them whilst driving my car and they are very good. They also record journey time and max speeds.
I use a Quadlock iphone case with the Quad lock handle bar fitting, with a free to use G.P.S app. When my Sx speedo is showing 50 Mph I'm actually doing about 40 Mph. Spot on. Worth a look.
Thanks glad you liked it, yes it's kitted, Mugello 225 v4, MB Big Box v3, 26mm Dellortto, MB 58 crank with 110 yam rod & 3mm packer under the barrel. I had an air leak at the time of videoing this, if I went much over 50 the revs screamed away, scared the crap out of me so just a nice comfy cruise. the leak was coming up from a torn base gasket through one of the barrel studs, it was a bugger to find, did a leak down test in the end & that showed it up. I'll never put an engine back in the frame without a leak down test again.
Well, I was a Mod in the 60's, I'm riding now pretty much what I was riding in 1966, I like the light Mod style scooter, I don't like christmas tree over the top scoots or race paint jobs on road scoots I also dislike murals & engraving on scoots but I wouldn't criticise any of the above or have the front to think it's ok to do so ! each to their own eh, if you like it, ride it, I like Mod & that'll do fer me.
The screen, yes I like a fly screen, it's not for the little weather protection it gives, I just like the look of it, as you know Iv'e kitted it out like my first scoot in 1966, it's in the Mod style of the 60's that we favoured around here (Plymouth Devon), it was never over the top with mirrors & lights, that was for magazines & others, too much stuff just wasn't considered cool back then or now eh!
