There’s also a grey Knight known as Anval Thrawn who is said to be/ known as the last perpetual. In short, he was an impressive grey knight who destroyed countless daemons across many campaigns. It was only ended after being dealt a mortal wound after fighting on a craftworld by a greater daemon of Slaanesh. When his ceremony was in action, he said to have emerged from his tomb perfectly fine. He was then interrogated and found no taint of chaos on him. And so he went back to his position. In which there have been multiple instances of him dying but coming back, one of these is when a great unclean one ate him whole, but just a few moments later he carved his way out of the belly of the daemon. Since a lot of this episode was covering the exploits of one Mr. Kaldor Draigo, allow me to extoll for a moment the exploits of my boy Oxyotl from OG Warhammer Fantasy. Basically he accomplished most of the same feats Draigo did, but rather than being an 8ft tall psychic demigod with the best arms and armor that mankind had ever made, he’s just a little lizard guy with googly eyes and a blowpipe. And yes, that includes killing a Greater Daemon solo, and surviving in the warp alone for a long ass time. TLDR; Oxyotl is just a little guy, and he goes just as hard as Kaldor Draigo.
Lizard guy is badass. But draigo is more memes because uts rorshach situation. When they would like to throw him out but they cant. And they would like to
I want to congratulate the thumbnail artist for their work on this one. The considerations that went into which hands are reaching where is evident, and making some of the text on the Grey Knight's armour legible was also a good touch. Every time DK mentions disliking the Ultramarines I really want him and Bricky to read Know No Fear. Completely changed my opinion of the boys in blue entirely.
Draigo is actually how I got into 40k. I heard about everything he’d done and bought a GK squad at my store. I then bought some Orks, and used the Grey Knights as trophies and base fodder. I even made my own Draigo, so I can use him as practice for Warboss loadouts during 9th.
The Black Blade reminds me a lot of Nightblood, from Brandon Sanderson's books. Black sword that speaks to its holders mind, capable of ripping souls, calls to other people to draw it and requires someone of intensely strong will to resist... The only difference is that where the Black Blade is actually an evil demon, Nightblood is kind of naive, having been created to "slay evil" but its creators forgot to define what "evil" means.
Playing ChaosGate has helped me like Caldor a LITTLE BIT more. Cuz he’s ridiculous and kinda whacky, but for your team. It helps him feel a bit less bullshit when you benefit from his power

Salt Warning: Unfortunately, GW in their infinite wisdom have decided that Grey Knights are no longer a Psyker army. We are a weak Space Marine army with teleporters. While the new Army Rule is awesome, we no longer have the tools to capitalize on it. Also, while we still have the Psyker keyword, it's more of a hinderance than a boon since we gain little from it but many armies now have rules that let them mitigate effects from it or outright ignore it. So until the Codex comes out, probably late next year, I'm gonna shelve them. Shame, love my Grey Knights. Great vid as always guys. Thanks. Salt over.
To be fair, having grey knights brain blast you, shoot you, charge you, and then teleport away was kind of overpowered when used right. Almost as bad as fighting a deathskulls beast snagga army using knights or pre codex guard.
@patsutherland6853 true, but it feels like they went too far with the balance into outright nerfed into Exterminatus territory. They could have simply given us Dev Wounds on all weapons with the Psyker keyword to reflect us channeling our might through the weapons, which when looking at other armies, would not have been that OP in all honesty. But hey, time will tell. Hopefully, the Codex will help
The silver wards being implanted under their skin sounds like a horribly not-fun and over the top thing, if you didn’t already know that every space marine aspirant has to have a good chunk of their skin peeled off in order for them to be implanted with the black carapace. Every member of the Astartes in existence was quite literally pulled apart and stitched back together again to become a space marine. The Grey Knights just have way, waaay more steps.
"In 'Emperor Text-to-Speech," To be fair, they didn't invent the meme of insane lunatic Draigo. It was created long ago in the bowls of /tg/ taking the piss from the Gary Stu, and was later expounded upon by the Flashgitz video on Draigo having him snorting warp dust and hallucinating. TTS only made the meme more widely known.
10:15 - Crazed Psykers, those who has been kidnapped who want nothing to do with their kidnappers, those who have some idea of what "training" is and realize that a slow death in the desert is probably the better option, those who are already on the path to chaos. 17:28 - Macho Man appears from the warp and delivers an elbow drop, says "Ohh Yeah!" and then disappears. 52:05 - We shall send them to the SUPER WARP!
As a Grey Knights (and alpha legion, my name is only kinda a lie) fan, i use Draigo and Calidor on the tabletop a lot. Their melee is quite overpowered. Cant wait for today’s episode. Edit: Yooooo, thanks to the 45 of you who liked this, absolute mad lads 👍
The woman you are talking about is Erda who is a perpetual very similar to the Emperor. And shortly after defeating those demons Erebus ended up killing her.
Kaldor Draigo kind of reminds me of Gotrek Gurnison from warhammer fantasy, they both have this insanely long list of absurdly powerful things they’ve killed and (as of sigmar) have spent lifetimes in the warp and killed so many demons they can walk around without getting attacked but Draigo lacks that comedic angle of only being in these deadly situations because of a death wish he’s just too badass to ever have fulfilled. Plus we saw Gotrek‘s quest of doom escalate from slaying trolls all the way to bloodying Belakor and surviving combat with literal gods. Best quote “I swore to die in battle and outlived a world!”
There could be some easy explanations for Draigo being OP, like if every GK Supreme Grand Master inherited the loyalist shard of Magnus that Janus had. :/
Im definitely in the third camp for draigo "Have you ever eaten a tangerine?" (Leaps down into the battlefield blazing with power) "Would you like to try one?". Tts is also awesome
I really like how things have changed and the Grey knights are more of a specialist group VS Daemons as opposed to them being a cut above other space marines all around. Also would love to see another Grey Knights episode.
Grey knights being codex compliant for their chapter size is pretty funny considering everything else they do and the fact they are just a super secret chapter anyway and arent exactly telling people they exist let alone how many of them there are
Draigo is a great character explicitly BECAUSE he is trapped in the Wrap. I love insanely overpowered characters that either just truly do not fucking care and won't lift a finger to do anything and really just end up being dead weight or causing more problems. Or that have something that makes all that potential be only available in very tiny, hyper-specific, bursts and then they're gone/useless again and those hyper-specific windows are totally and absolutely random. I like when the bad guys have a boogeyman to be afraid of, it makes them feel more grounded when even THOSE guys are afraid of someone/something like that. Just this force of nature that just exists for the fun of it within the universe but never actually does anything meaningful, just a ton of meaningless crazy horseshit. Draigo is the space marine version of the entire Ork lore, just complete bullshit meant to be over-the-top and fun. If Orks can make an empty gun fire cause they believe hard enough, Draigo can walk around the warp committing property damage.
I honestly love Drago because it's so stupid. If Trayzin is allowed to have literally anything in storage (He apparently has an actual Thunder Warrior?) then why not have someone who does random stuff? As long as he doesn't do anything extremely canon breaking like kill a Primarch then I don't see the problem. If he had saved Fantasy then it would be different but nothing really changes with him being there except for adding on to the list
As someone with little actual knowledge of 40k apart from what Bricky has shared. I like to believe that maybe Kaldor Draigo is ACTUALLY a badass dude, but like I wanna believe maybe there's more to the story. Like maybe he's somehow like a legend that's made manifest in part due to the hype surrounding him. Sorta the kind of story where there's a kernel of truth behind the larger than life stories, and it just kinda grew from there. idk... The idea that there's just this dude in the warp that's a badass that shows up in times of need is cool. But maybe it's not so much he's actually that strong, but maybe finds success in other ways which lead to his legend growing. Sorta where all the credit gets put to him when he's actually just a key part than the whole thing.
If memory serves, the lady who defeated the four greater daemons was Erda, the primarch's mum although having read the book I still have no idea how she did it (I'll give her some credit for giving absolutely no courtesy to Erebus but otherwise I understand none of it other than perpetuals OP).
I like Draigo for being the embodiment of the ridicoulusness of 40K. To take serious he would need to be like the Grey Knights Primarch they don‘t actually have or something crazy like that.

Though due to this perpetual status, the grandmasters forbidden him from rising in the ranks, and so he forever remains Justicar Anval Thrawn, the last perpetual.

Castellan Garran Crowe: "I must constantly live on my own, holding the blade which killed my master after a mortal stole it from him and ascended to daemonic power. I now constantly endure the whispers and screams, taunts and temptations of the daemon within the blade, words which even whisper to those around me, and that which only my most powerful brethren can withstand for more than moments at a time. And yet I must still venture forth, for the daemons of Chaos which threaten the realms of the Master of Mankind must be stopped before more harm can be done. Pray that you have no need of me."
Supreme Grand Master Kaldor Draigo: "I killed a daemon prince in my first battle, and now I run around the warp itself, doing whatever I damn well please and stealing the lunch money of any daemon I come across."
Kaldor Draigo: "And I also operate as Supreme Grand Master/Chapter Master, despite having little communication with my Chapter!"
As for Castellan Crowe, I just... he's based on the Eternal Champion from Moorecock (probably more specifically Elric of Melnibone), who constantly fights over his soul with a sentient demon Black Sword and is tasked by... _something,_ with keeping the balance between Order and Chaos. It's stupid to me that he is therefore anti-Chaos all of the time, rather than being both anti-Chaos and anti-Imperial.

This was a fun episode. I do wish that Bricky had pointed out that the Black Blade of Antwyr can literally slice through anything. This is the Vorpal sword of Vorpal swords, it’s Vorpal 2: Electric Boogaloo!

Wait, Grey Knights can be recruited from the Black Ships? So like, someone is issued to be basically executed, and devoured by the Emperor, and then they just go missing to become a Grey Knight Aspirant? That's insane.
Pretty much all psykers go on the Black Ships, even sanctioned psykers are chosen from there. Basically the Black Ships are just transportation to wherever they're sorted to.
The black ships take all psykers not just the ones to be fed to big E. The more promising ones are trained and the less promising ones are batteries

I like Draigo because I just imagine him being like Sly Marbo where he’s just OP because the writer wants to for memes and that’s funny
Too bad he wasn't written like this intentionally. x)
One of the Grey Knight's favorite game is "Where in the Warp is Caldor Draigo?"
I'm the complete opposite, I didn't even know he existed but now I love Draigo and wish there were more ridiculous characters like him. He fits the ludicrous stupidity of the setting perfectly 👌
I think he's a bit too OP, even for 40k standards. Which is saying a lot. B/

Whilst all the Draigo stuff generally sounds over the top, the bit about him appearing randomly when cultists think they are summoning a demon is hilarious and whoever thought that up deserves some credit, just imagining him as some sort of chaos bogeyman with like cultists checking under their bed incase Draigo is hiding under there makes me giggle.

Yea. DK and Bricky are more for the laughs and less for accuracy. The Black Templar episode was a total joke
@@chrishooker7671and not even a fun one
Always gonna be the case when ppl are starting out and developing their skills. Like how I'd love Deathguard in more detail as it was one of the first episodes.
Didn't Bricky do a real video on his own channel about Black Templars?
I like this lizard already 😁👍
Lizard guy is badass. But draigo is more memes because uts rorshach situation. When they would like to throw him out but they cant. And they would like to
I want to congratulate the thumbnail artist for their work on this one. The considerations that went into which hands are reaching where is evident, and making some of the text on the Grey Knight's armour legible was also a good touch. Even within the standard Adeptus Ridiculous cartoon art style, this is high-tier Warhammer 40K fanart.

Literally 1-1 "do you think the sword ever uses its own power, because every depiction i see is of it rift in flames."

Every time DK mentions disliking the Ultramarines I really want him and Bricky to read Know No Fear. Completely changed my opinion of the boys in blue entirely.
Have you ever eaten...a tangerine?
I am so glad someone said this
WOULD YOU LIKE TO TRY ONE?
Imagine being so Pure that you consider a blade so corruptive that even other Grey Knights are susceptible to it's lies just a slight annoyance.
Draigo is actually how I got into 40k. I heard about everything he’d done and bought a GK squad at my store. I then bought some Orks, and used the Grey Knights as trophies and base fodder. I even made my own Draigo, so I can use him as practice for Warboss loadouts during 9th.
Man this Kaldor Drago guy sounds like he's really WARD-ed from all harm.
They are both likely copying the same old book, the elric saga had one far earlier.
Stormbringer.

The Terminus Decree could totally be its own episode with all the theories and speculation around it. I can't wait for DK to dive head first into it!

The woman you are talking about is Erda who is a perpetual very similar to the Emperor. And shortly after defeating those demons Erebus ended up killing her.
Draigo: Local menace to the warp and chaos gods
There is 1 guy who reaaaaly loves Kaldor Dreigo... his name is Matt Ward.
They skipped him entirely, so I guess they won't talk about him. :/
In the TTS series, Kaldor Draigo banished a SUN, while INSIDE said sun, by just saying "NO SUN!"
Im definitely in the third camp for draigo "Have you ever eaten a tangerine?" (Leaps down into the battlefield blazing with power) "Would you like to try one?". Tts is also awesome
I imagine grey knights that become dreadnoughts request for it beforehand or during their last moments.
Jetsboots: activate! Let's go Draigo-go-go-goooooo! *crashes into demonic village like a ICBM*
I really like how things have changed and the Grey knights are more of a specialist group VS Daemons as opposed to them being a cut above other space marines all around. Also would love to see another Grey Knights episode.
We really need a 'DK and Bricky watch TTS' series.
Now listen, I'm a grey knights player and I love the lore. That being said Kaldor Draigo is a crack pot of lore, but I still love him.
They said I'd never amount to anything but look at me now, I'm a word of banishment!
The disrespect of Edra at the end was uncalled for
Grey knights being codex compliant for their chapter size is pretty funny considering everything else they do and the fact they are just a super secret chapter anyway and arent exactly telling people they exist let alone how many of them there are
Draigo is a great character explicitly BECAUSE he is trapped in the Wrap.
GOT IT, Caldor Driago is the Deadpool of warhammer
Without the fun. Unless it’s the tts version.
I would love Kaldor Draigo a LOT more if he was something like tts, where he’s crazy, not all there, and just the cosmically powerful comedic relief.
Kalgo Draigo is the Imperium's response to the Orkz' slapstick violence
I like Kaldor Draigo for the simple reason is that he’s the only one I can think of that can and has shit on Chaos’s lawn
I don't know what came first TTS or Flashgitz but they did a very good animation of him about 10 years ago.
In da forty first melleninum, that fine azz warp dust still going strong
Kaldor Draigo is more Sly Marbo than Sly Marbo
Months of shame and space wolves episodes coming cool! Give them a fair shot and if you doing months of shame they should is fair. The Gray knights don't come off that bad the emperors gift is more their book. Annika Yarlsdaughter was cool please don't forget her.
The only thing about Draigo that I quite enjoy is the cultists accidentally summoning him. That's hilarious.

No one will remember us now and we may never be buried beneath Titan, so we will build our own memorial here. The Chapter might lose us and the Imperium might never know we existed, but the Arch-Enemy - the Arch-Enemy will know. The Arch-Enemy will remember. We will hurt it so badly that it will never forget us until the stars burn out and the Emperor vanquishes it at the end of time. When Chaos is dying, its last thought will be of us. That is our memorial - carved into the heart of Chaos. We cannot lose, Grey Knights, for we have already won." -Justicar Alaric of the Grey Knights chapter.
