I was in Amway for 3 years, from experience cold contacting I can tell you that she 100% believes in what she’s doing. She’ll take the story back to her upline/team and it’ll be more positive reinforcement for her to keep doing it in spite of how weird/ineffective it is. 15 years is a LOT of programming. 😮
Glad you were able to inform the girl of what she was about to walk into!

I was approached at Walmart by a lady after having a very delightful conversation. I was very lonely and depressed being isolated with two small children and I really thought the lady was trying to be my friend. We exchanged information, then just before I walked away she pitched me about making money in a great opportunity that changed her life. I walked away, deleted and blocked her number and legitimately cried. She totally played on my emotions and my isolated state of being a stay at home mom.
Thanks for your work Marco! Your saving people from being scammed.

This was great Marco! I was in amway for 2 years. What she did was “posture” herself by acting naive at first and then flipping it on you to ask you what you know about the company. These people will say in business plans “we will meet with about 10 people and only decide to work with 1 or 2 people” making it seem like it’s lucrative. Yet once the prospects leave they have a training session for the “IBO’s” and basically rally them up to get more guests to these plans so that their upline can hit a new rank. Bribing with “what you do for your upline, your downline will do for you” smh

Hahaha! IBOs! I forgot all about that! Independent Business Owners. I've been to 2 Amway events myself and was almost recruited. I was a business and salesman by nature so they like frequenting our job sites. At the time I was very young, 19, but I didn't go any deeper. Later when I was about 29, I was approached again outside of a gas station because I was wearing a business suit 😅. I had a conversation with the guy and told him the truth about the industry. He refused to believe it but we kept in touch. We're still friends today (I'm 37) and he no longer does Amway 😅. He never made any money! I know at least 6 people that got sucked in and none of them are millionaires today and they're no longer in the business 🤷‍♂️

A few months back I went out to lunch with my boss at the local Panera. While sitting there, I heard this dude (hard to not hear him with how loudly he was talking) on the phone, talking about all the renovations happening on his house, how much money that was costing him, the new car he was buying, and the vacation he was planning to take his family on, blah blah blah. After ending his loud ass phone call, he looked over to the table next to him (directly in front of me) and struck up a random conversation. At this table was a mother and daughter that was just starting college, eating lunch and talking about daughter's job and how to afford college. This dude starts telling them all about how he retired his wife at 21, how his "business" is exploding and he's looking for people "just like her" to join his team and be the next top earner.....My stomach dropped. It took all of my self control to not interrupt his pitch and tell him to leave those women alone. After he left, I walked over to them and told them what he was actually doing. I told them that he is not an actual business owner (hence why he NEVER named the company), he did not retire his wife at 21, and he is going to try and exploit them for their money, time, energy and value. I begged them to block his number, not to meet with him and definitely DO NOT join his "business". Unfortunately I am a crier and had to fight back tears as I talked to them, because I know the damage these MLMs do and hate to think of a mom & daughter being taken advantage of, just for having a conversation about college and the wrong person overhearing them! UGH makes my blood boil! My hope is they didn't meet with dude and are avoiding all other people that pitch them this garbage. Keep up the good work Marco!

I have a less than glamorous job and while I was working a man approached me in the parking lot and talked to me about my job and then told me he might be able to help me with another higher paying job. I agreed to meet him at a Starbucks the next day. He was very good at dodging my questions about what exactly the job was and just kept asking me weird questions. He then gave me a copy of who moved my cheese. I knew nothing of MLMs but my alarms were going off hard so I ended the meeting and left. The recruiter isn't supposed to tell the mark it is Amway. They say, "I own my own consulting company helping people make money in business." They have a slogan for the bait and switch. I can't remember what it is called. It is something about interesting/intriguing. I can't remember. But that was very unusual. I had an old friend from junior high try to recruit me and my husband. I had zero idea what she was selling but I sensed I was being set up so I never took her up on the dinner invitation. I had a friend who was very socially savvy and had seen all sorts. We told them all the hints we had about my old school friend's business (Christian/sorta, conservative, business consulting, secretive) and in unison they said, "Amway!" So we were forewarned. She got dollar signs in her eyes when she was around us.

I was new in my area and met a neighbor whose son was the same age as my toddler daughter. I offered to get together and she turned me down flat. I was like okay, we won't be friends. Then about a year or so later I run into her and she is so sweet and saying we should get together. She had started selling MaryKay. She bugged me all the time to go to her parties and I tried to make it clear to her that my skin was under the care of a dermatologist and I didn't like MK. She never stopped. One night I decided to show. My husband told me not to do it. I ate a couple of stale peanuts and drank a Diet Coke and then her friend takes me into the private room to see what I would buy and I had planned this all night. I said, "Oh I don't want anything. Nope nothing." She acted so embarrassed and nonplussed. I don't think it ever happened before. I remembered being young with no money, and I was the one embarrassed because I didn't have the money to buy their crap or try to appease them with one lipstick. It was liberating to unapologetically buy nothing. She never bothered me again.

I saved a 20 something year old kid that I saw being approached by a mlm guy. I saw myself 10 years in the past about to make a huge mistake and had to talk to him.
He was taken back at first but he was shocked I gave more info on the business than the guy talking about the business.
30 min later we had coffee, he asked a ton of questions and I think I saved him from that mistake.

Yes it’s totally predatory. The same thing happened to me at a coffee shop before. She was in her early twenties and was sitting near me when I was reading a book, she asked me what book I was reading to strike up a conversation. Then told me how she’s starting entrepreneurship with a “mentor”. What I didn’t know at the time is that when they’re recruiting, they’re not allowed to talk about the “business”. I thought it was a potential real friend, she even took me to church with her and we went for lunch together. Then she eventually told me to meet with her and her mentor to discuss the business, where they still wouldn’t say what it was and gave me a bunch of books to read. It was super awkward. I left feeling so confused and uncomfortable. Then I googled the book when I got home and figured out what was happening. I was sooo hurt and disappointed because I thought it could have been a genuine friendship. I called her and told her I would have to return the books. So sad that people do this.

I remember one time at a target. I was at the frozen foods section & this well dressed guy was asking me what I prefer in the aisle and I gave him a recommendation. We small talked about my goals and I immediately knew what he plan was. He got my recommendation and walked away, I saw him a couple minutes later and saw him empty handed after I clearly saw him take the recommendation I gave him. Great video as always Marco! I almost got recruited to Amway during the pandemic. Someone reached out to me through social media with the offer, and I went to some of the events but didn't understand anything. What made me leave at the end was that all the live transmissions and videos they would share would get deleted after a few days, and they pushed that we don't share it with outside members for privacy reasons. I showed one of the videos to some family. We watched them together, and they said none of it made sense. After, they tried to manipulate me, telling me that they paid for the videos so that I could get trained, but in the end, I never asked them to pay for anything, so I have nothing to feel wrong about. Thank God I realized this early on and did not spend any money on training or anything of that nature.

    My wife is an Ambot.
She’s an immigrant from the Caribbean and Amway has burned through most of the native whites and is now after minorities and immigrants.
Before my wife could drive, I took her to these meetings. There were some whites - either retired or near retirement - but it was mostly non-whites and immigrants and, surprisingly, a number of STEM people - an MD and a physicist (who ran the meeting with his wife, so I guess he doesn’t count).

Excellent video. Thank you for confronting that woman and for posting this video. I was recently prospected at my local grocery store and I cannot believe that I didn’t catch on in the moment! I actually exchanged texts with the woman who approached me. I definitely found it odd and felt on the fence the entire time. She approached me in the exact same way as the woman in your video. She complemented me, and then struck up a conversation. Although I was suspicious, I still gave her one of my numbers. I thought to myself “maybe she’s just friendly”. I agreed to meet up with her and interestingly enough she was very evasive, and never actually said what she was involved with. It wasn’t until I began to research the little details that I heard her drop that I connected the dots, and eventually realized that she is part of an Amway “rebrand” called Customize Your Life. And your video only reaffirmed my suspicions. She never actually said that, but her script was exact to what you covered in this video. Thank you again for posting this video. I look forward to exploring the rest of your channel!

In my last two years of high school, I had a teacher who was very good to me and helped me through some rough times in my life. A couple of months after I graduated and a week before I left for college, her and a friend of her’s came to my house and talked about something and selling and starting a business and that my mom could write things off on her taxes as business expenses. This person gave me some things for college, and over the next three years she became more and more pushy with Amway. Every person I ever introduced her to was a target, and even after I left a part time job, she was visiting and calling them to talk about Amway. Eventually, she stopped returning my phone calls, and vanished off the face of the Earth. After making some other discoveries that were not Amway related, I just stopped trying to contact this person and grew angry about some things.

Hey Marco! I just came across your channel after quitting an MLM roughly 3 weeks ago. I just wanted to shared my story about my experience with a pyramid scheme. My best friend and I came across another channel dissecting an MLM company we were apart of called Smart Circle. Luckily for us after learning how shockingly sinister these companies are we immediately quit. We didn’t leave alone, we shared this video to 9 other of our co workers and helped them out. We found out things that were going on at our office as well. The people who expanded out from D.C to the town I currently live in were actually struggling to maintain the “opportunity” they praise. We found out they were sleeping in the office, we took notice that these people maintained poor higiene, and so much more that I wish to ramble more about. Currently still unemployed, I’ve dug deeper and realize that there are multiple MLM’s around the world, and it sucks that many young people like me are brainwashed from these companies. The problem is much bigger than the office I was at, and i’m glad I was able to help the majority of the office escape their “system.” Marco, I thank you for being able to fight to the best of your potential to help expose these pigs in our world!
    Thank you!

I'm a college student and have been starting up a business of mine. I wore a nice watch to barns n nobles and got targeted by a recruiter. Seemed like a super nice down to earth family man, even talking about god etc. Maybe it was his way of creating a false illusion of his character, ended up researching amway after our presentation and called off the next meeting. My brother was in amway.. I sat in on a few of his prospects he would get when I was 16. We would walk around random stores trying to get people. I remember the first time I sat in with him, the guy kept asking what company it was & my brother LITERALLY would not tell him, he would say “We’re getting to that etc” and now realizing he knew exactly what folks would think.
We also would hang out with his up line, & boy I’ll tell ya!! They were in the business for about 10 years & never got anything.. I witnessed him make a call to someone he met 5 years ago in a store & hopelessly tried to jog their memory on him.. haha that man was interesting..
Btw my brother skipped his prom & sooo much stuff to go to these conferences because he believed in am way so much. I used to want ALL of their products in my future home as I thought they were the best.
Crazy man! My brother has since stopped that and created his own company & grossed 20k in the first 3 days on may this month!! Honestly amway taught me a good amount as a 16 year old & I don’t regret my experience, can’t say the same for him though.
