iPhone 14 Pro user here. If anyone's seeing this in the future, get the 15. Footage and photos on the 14 look unnecessarily crisp and overprocessed, which you can see if you pay attention to his shots in selfie mode and the other shots with lots of detail here. I find it quite demoralizing honestly. I wish I got the 15 because this looks so much more natural/reaslitic, but was 4 years overdue for an upgrade and the 14 was the latest available at the time.
The processing of the images is much smoother, the detail increases and the tones are much more similar to the iPhone 15 pro. They are not 100% the same, but at least there is no longer the "oversharp". HDR with HEIF is less intense. I hope it helps you.
Always use HEIF max. It’s due to pixel binning as to why it looks like that. HEIF max makes it use the sensor full capability and gets rid of all the over processing.

I'm not sure I would have the patience to deal with all the additional hassles. . . carrying external storage. . .giant hard drives for editing, adding LUTs and grading required to really even benefit. . . Apple held out on installing the new Sony high dynamic range stacked sensor this year for the 15 pros. . . As all corporate giants/monopoly holders. . . they are milking us every year for all we are worth. No 15 Pro Max for me. . . Apple knew they had enough to beat the competition without doing all the upgrades they could. Thanks for the solid review!
I mean upgrade iPhone every two years would be more accurate because I don’t see any much difference So I happy to stick with 14 pro max and wait for 16 pro max will be 50% difference
🤔 are you using a gimbal for the shots - which one? I’m thinking of using a gimbal for my 15 Pro Max. Would be great if you make a comparison test with Insta360 Flow, DJI Osmo Mobile 6, hohem iSteady and maybe cheaper solutions. 🙏🏻
iPhone 15 Pro Max looks significantly more pleasing, because the sharpening is very natural, and not overdone. Not that 14 Pro is overdone, it's still there, but on 15 it's a lot more smooth, yet almost just as detailed. It's more of a softwaretweak, but a very good one.

I saw a lot of comparisons. 48mpx HEIF looks the same unless you use RAW 48mpx, where you might see a tiny little bit more acurrate colors and more orcanic result, but only noticeable comparing side to side and is not worth the upgrade. I recommend to wait until 16 pro/pro max, when Apple implements that new stacked image sensor and hopefully the main sensor increase in size
That’s an important point.. normally i shoot portraits using 50 & 85mm prime lens…I rarely use 105mm and above cause I need to be too far away from the subject which not so practical in street photography when it’s busy
THE 15 is good for those who don't add extra lenses to their phone. Getting extra lens is def worth the investment... since iPhone cameras in general are overall good.
you should have compared iphone 14 pro max's video to the iphone 15 pro max's ProRes log videos for details in video. because that is what it can achieve with new A17 pro chip inside that too at 4K 60 FPS. I think 2 points for that too.😉
