Hope you guys enjoy the playthrough. Thanks to Jeff Holcomb for filming!
greetings from venezuela, the new album it's awesome, keep making good music guys, every day i hear this song before go to my job, the arpeggios are so beauty.
This song took me some time to get used to it but right now it's my favorite from the record !
And it's always a treat to see you guys play. keep it up
love it dude, cant wait to see you guys in baltimore!
Love this song :) Quick question though, does the songs title make a reference to Rick and Morty at all?? :)
I didn't know you knew Jeff! How'd you two meet?
if this isn't the most "yep, Mark wrote this" I don't know what is.
Tyler Jordan MacDonald scarlet?
Welcome to periphery IV: It's only mraks
Just like Priestess. Somehow that guitar riff on the acoustic just refuses to end.
Pale Aura?
I love marks style. It's like happy metal and he does stuff I wish I could do on guitar. Like the shit I hear in my head, is the type of riffs mark writes.
It almost sounds like if it was Mark Holcomb playing it nice cover!
Still not as good as Mark Holcomb though.
Yeah he could at least try to get an axefx and his prs signature... but still pretty good
He could give Mrak a run for his money
This is sarcasm. Right?
aweblade4 sorry to break character, but this is an old periphery meme/inside joke. Someone posted comments like this on one of marks old videos and was 100% serious and the rest is history, go google it to see the OG.
Enjoy!
Yaaay!
hi mark
I literally just started learning this last night, it's so fun to play. Flows so nicely. The whole album is fantastic
Not Matt's playthrough on Thursday??
This song is so mark
Very!
I'm the 69th like.
mrak*
ユキ mrak honeycomb
This video made me realize how cool Mark's picking style is.
Cool or weird ? I would say it's very stiff looking, using the whole hand rather than just wrist movement. It's like his wrist does not bend at all lol. But whatever works for him :)
I think he stiffens up his wrist and uses his arm more to create a bigger pick attack.
I find it pretty cool, you can feel dem downstrokes on that 6th string, gave me the chills *-*
definitely more elegant than Misha's in my opinion XD
It's unique for sure, and he's doing on purpose, cuz the breakdown you obviously can't use your arm like that
Mrak's hands are huge, and you know what they say about people with big hands.
...They play guitar well.
Wtf you're on literally every channel I watch
Hank Hill he also seems to have big feet. .. you know what they say about people with big feet......big socks
Hank Hill dude you are literally everywhere
I’ll tell yhew hwhut
Propane!
6 years on... just checking in, quickly.
Yep. Still a monumental banger. 🔥
what a majestic mosquito net
yeah but that carpet tho
hey
hey
hey
hey
2:01 probably my favorite riff on the album
Honestly one of the coolest riff's I've heard in a long time. It really is uniquely incredible, thanks a lot.
2:57
Specially after that..."""HuuuuHhh!""
What a great intro riff. Honestly, have yet to be as emotionally affected by a guitar riff as I have thru that one. Bravo Matt
When PIII came out, i did not stop playing this song on repeat for honestly 3 weeks. Still to this day one of my favourite songs of all time. I cant get sick of it
Take note ladies and gentlemen. This is how you make a guitar playthrough. Shout out to Jeff Holcomb for being a badass videographer.
And thats the wayyyyyyy the news goes!
Wub a lub a dub dub!
Ricky ticky tappy biiiaaaaatch!!
Periphery=The Flesh Curtains
Graaaaaassss tastes bad
BURGER TIME!
Man Mark's style of play is probably my favourite of the 3. He creates some of the most interesting phrases and his hammer ons/pull offs are just so clean. Can't wait for the new album. Totally psyched.
now I see why Misha and Jake struggled with this song haha, great job Mark! \m/
i think jake was just joking when he sent that tweet. he can run circles around me on guitar, but i was able to pick this song up fairly quickly.
Jason LovesABR i got the producer pack back when the album came out, it really helps a lot for learning the songs. i had to slow the guitar tracks down in reaper to get all the notes for this one, but it's fairly straightforward when you learn it part by part.
+Jason LovesABR It was probably because Jake has smaller hands and Mark incorporates some pretty awkward stretches for someone with small hands.
True, and as how Mark struggled with Marigold.
I too have small hands, the intro chord shapes/voicings on pale aura were a pain at the start of learning. this looks manageable though fortunately
I really love that Mark play's his SE model unlike most artists.
I know it’s unpopular opinion
I understand why he plays the SE models
But he should be playing on his signature USA models
Like he’s one of the top guitarists in the world who plays in front of thousands
No need to show off and play with a sub par level
Mark became one of my all time favorite guitarists ever.
So original!
Wow. The slow melody he plays at 2:40 is my favorite part. I know it's not as obviously technical, but I think it's got so much style and just sounds so good. Am I the only one, or do i have any agreement here? :). Well done, Mark. Great song.
His left hand is insane it’s almost not moving , always in the perfect chord shape for those leads
Effortlessly ❤
This makes me want to pick up the guitar again. Quit about 5 years ago. Lost my passion, but this is really sparking it all back
I keep coming back to this playthrough. I believe that Mark and PRS guitars were made for each other. Such a unique style and sound!
This is probably the song I listen to the most on PIII.
I was waiting for this playthrough. It's so beautiful. Thanks Mark!
Mark's creativity lights up my day. I simply cannot summon the words... It's just a fking masterpiece. Thank you for giving us this Mark
You're shining and it shows, Mark! Beautiful song.
Still vibing so hard on this riff... such a majestic approach to the instrument and heavy music. Bravo 👏🏼
No idea why but I cannot get over the part at 1:36, it's so good.
bro same here. The riff is sooo perfect
Just completely memorized! This is why I love this album so much!
I wake up to this song every morning. Puts me in such a great mood. I couldn't imagine life without Periphery.
this is so epic . im in love with marks work on the fretboard.
When I stare at Mark playing riffs, I start day dreaming. Each, time.
Good Job Periphery, you're amazing!
What majestic carpet at 4:17.
Amazing. Its the syncopated rhythms that blow me away, especially at this tempo.
Really loving these playthroughs!
oh boy i've been waiting for this playthrough, so glad its here
You guys are simply amazing. Absolutely love all of you guys music, keep it up!
thanks for taking time on doing this kind of videos, really helpful so far
this final riff !!
goosebumps each time
I've been pressing 2:58 for about 40 minutes. And I just can't stop. This is amazing!
One of my favorite guitar riffs. EVER.
Such landscapes! Many Wow's!
Had so much fun meeting you guys last night in Philly. I don't think I will ever go to a show as good as the one you all put on. It was just insane...
great song - beautiful melody throughout the whole song
The last time I was this early, Mrak was the only one who knew who Sithu Aye was.
I bet the other Holcomb filmed this. You can tell from the scenery shots, he loves to do this. Good job Mark and Jeff
I so happy I learnt the main riff, thank you Mark Holcomb!!
It´´s so much fun to watch and listen to!!
Brilliant Mark, fantastic!
Some really good stuff. Probably one of my favourite riffs in the album. Reminds me so much of Priestess. Has Mark written all over it with the slides and open chords. This album is amazing.
Awesome melodic parts! Luv it!
Sick Mark! Lots of inspiration to be found here, thanks!
I´m definitely saving for this guitar! It´s just beautiful!
Have you got it yet ?
I always like how the band incorporates natural and environmental scenery/moods into their videos.
Absolutely incredible, Mrak.
Awesome guitar cover you did it's really amazing and cool.
I've had the pleasure of meeting Mark, such a nice dude!
So lovely
Mark Holcomb has the steeziest guitar riffs!!!! Keep the amazing guitar work coming man \m/
My favorite part about this song is the intro when he hits that 09 and lets it ring ooooo the feels
Sick show in Philly last night guys everybody was great.
A beautiful video for a beautiful song.
Camera cuts to scenery while Mark sits there awkwardly
This was uploaded on my birthday and it’s my favorite song on the album!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
This song kicks my ass. It's one of my all time favorite songs to ever be written and it just kills me that I can't get the hang of it lol. I can play everything except for the driving Melody/intro/verse licks. One day hopefully I'll master it. Masterful playing as always Mark.
I love this overhead cam angle!
Love that the vocals are in this one, song wouldn't be the same without them. Amazing as always Mark.
I agree. The vocals in this song seem so essential, yet some many people want it removed. I really wanted that playthrough with vocals and it makes me happy they let it in.
+Blizzards yeah same here, idk why spencer gets so much hate. He's such a talented dude.
It's crazy how one song can hold so much emotion.
Learning the intro was a bit of a pain but so fun to play. Love the open string notes!!!
Love Mark and his very own style, but, dude, Misha's piano parts are incredible! All of them is superb! This one is another example of what I am talking about.
Who cares about the play through. I wanna know what kind of carpet that is. Looks lush.
Hahaha u'r not the only one
Sick shag pile
ive listened to this song 5 times today, this shit is too good. Props for that extremely circular and groovy riff yo!
Such a nice piece of art
This really motivates and inspires me! 🤘🏼😎
Love the way he plays man!
This dumped about a cup and a half of serotonin into my brain
Amazing!
great sense of humor and playthrough, great style
hope to see some more playthroughs !
so beautiful...
I love the way his picking hand float while picking, not resting on the body of the guitar.
This song live was amazing ❤️
Beautiful composition.....
You killed it brother. Sounded fantastic. Nice equipment too.
Absolutely MONSTROUS dude..............
crazy good album, feels like you have all influenced each other in heaps of ways, feels very cohesive and strong
Spectacular! I love how Misha Jake and Mark all have different playing styles, or techniques. It seems they all add their own unique flavor to their music. Very fun to watch. I just seen them play in Minneapolis last week and it was seriously one of the best shows I've ever been too. Hope you guys make it back to Minnesota soon. Thanks for sharing.
It was a great show!
Hey... That's pretty good!
Wow! This is how i love it. Great!
I love the way this guy plays the guitar.
I love this riff
Thank you for actually playing and recording your instrument... Keep seeing so many "playthrough covers" of every band playing their songs, totally unplugged with just the the normal track playing over them, adding nothing to it. Pisses me off. You guys would be the ones to do it right, haha. Class musicians. Maryland pride ;)
God damnit I love these guys...
This looks incredibly difficult to play. Is this man insanely talented?
Yes. He really is
It's actually less difficult than it looks. Trust me, I know. I'm a guitarist.
I'm also a guitar player. It's not ludicrously difficult but you'll need to practice if you want to be as good as Mark
But Mark IS Insanely talented.
Yes this song is incredibly difficult to play but anything can be done with practice
Such tasty riffs. What an awesome song.
This song does wonderful things to me. What I'd give to have the guitar and talents to play this just like Mark does.
So beautiful....I love you guys
currently my favorite metal guitar player! insane technique and unique playing!! fucking LOVE the new album! keep it going!
I was learning momento from intervals, but I has to interrupt, just for this one, thanks Mark!
wow dude what a great cover!! sounds almost just like mark
