If you sell sandwiches and the price of meat and bread goes up, but a California regulation says you can only charge $4 for your sandwich, you either lose money on each sandwich (and eventually close in debt) or close and hopefully move to a location where you can sell at a price to pay your expenses and employees, and profit from your hard work and good decisions. You won't keep getting up in the morning to lose money. Same for insurance companies.

2:50 '...we need NEW protections (i.e. govt regulations) to prevent insurance companies...' Oh my, it was the regulations that prevented the insurance companies from being able to adjust for the risk, so they left. They aren't a charity. Don't you understand how insurance companies work (and employ people...and are able to insure people?) Its basic economics. Media needs to stop showing people who know nothing but sound smart. It mislead so many.

I find it hilarious that youtube puts their definition of climate change under every single video about the california ineptitude fires. If these people understood the climate, and out effect on it, they would be able to use that knowledge to make a prediction. Have any of their predictions came true? Have we lost our coastlines? Has the earth become unfarmable? Has all of humanity been whiped out? All of these are predictions made by "climate scientists"

I don't care how they feel! They feel like everyone else does in a situation like this! What a jerk question.

With fire burning everywhere all around you is it smart to try and put out a house that's gutted, you see this all the time, firefighters pumping water into a home with one wall standing. Maybe cover the homes that aren't burnt with water, we know that works, people saved their own homes by doing just that.

Issue is too complex to rush discussion!! News media need to change format: focus on how and why of disaster: cultural issues driving stakeholders, and alternatives to deal with issue!! Asking the " good question" is obsolete!!! Lets get the experts dialogue on issue!! Media format is not helpful in understanding these issues!!!

Everyone is always sorry after the fact. This is a typical response after Cali catastrophic events from seismic, fire and geological events. It's just a way of life if you live in the state. Nothing has changed!
