Conversely, there are certain time thresholds in each half where the game clock won't start until a player inbounds touches the ball. That makes it a good strategy for stretching out the game if you're trying to come from behind

If your team kicked the ball while play defense...then the team that has possession (offense) at the time keeps possession and has to pass the ball inbound to start the play.

I follow English sports and you all have a lot of stupid sayings too, they just don't seem stupid because you have grown up with them and use them all of the time. Squeaky bum time always makes me laugh.
And on those clear "travel calls" (Westbrook being the most obvious)...is most likely due to not enforcing game rules during practices. I have seen more players do this than I have in the past. Guys are walking with the ball while calling plays instead of dribbling or just holding the ball. This I would say is due to poor practice habits
