They forgot to mention that Kevin played a saxophone solo at Carnegie Hall. After Kevin accepted his first Grammy, his Dad asked if he was ready now to go back to medicine - parents! He’s a 7th Day Adventist which is why PTX won’t do concerts between sunset on Friday and sunset Saturday. They are amazing. BTW, your reaction did them proud.
I very much appreciate your comment!
And you left it for me to mention that he speaks fluent Mandarin?
One of the things i love about ptx is how much they support each other. Scott actually helped encourage Kevin to do this performance and to go as big as he wanted.
I love this! Didn't know about Scott pushed him to do it. Where did they address this fact?
@@MaishaOnTop almost a year ago I watched an hour long interview Kevin did.
Kevin's parents are a psychiatrist and a nurse, so his parents were very unsure about Kevin choosing to be a professional beat boxer. They are fine with it now. His brother is a doctor and his sister is a pharmacist. He started his cello boxing in China during a semester overseas. He speaks Mandarin. Classical music is his fave. Thank you for your reaction. I love, love, love your PTX reactions.
The dancers go by the stage name of "Cost n' Mayor." They traveled with Pentatonix during their 2022 Christmas tour and also appeared as the dancing camera techs in the official video for "Kid on Christmas."
Kevin works closely with Matt, as he did with Avi, because the rhythm section is the combination of percussion and bass. Also, Kevin is the oldest member of Pentatonix, older even than Avi by a year or two, and Matt is the youngest, so Kevin serves as a mentor to Matt. It isn't at all surprising that Kevin would use his big moment to give Matt a chance to show off a skill Matt doesn't generally get a chance to use as part of Pentatonix.
Very fascinating information. Thanks for sharing!
No matter what Scott said, no, Kevin is not a doctor. He graduated with his pre-med major just before _The Sing-Off._ He'd already been accepted to Yale Medical School, and his original plan was to enroll the next year; he was on his way to becoming a surgeon. He gave up his slot in Yale Medical School to join Pentatonix. And the most important thing about Kevin, IMO, is that when Epic reneged on the recording contract Pentatonix had "won" on _The Sing-Off_ Kevin DIDN'T say, "That's it. I'm outta here. I can still get into medical school." He stuck with them through the hard times, when it seemed that they had no chance of making their dream come true, and he didn't have to do that. But that's who he is; to desert Pentatonix in their time of need would have been to betray his own character, and that's something Kevin could never do.
I will straight SOB if I ever get to see this live! I've seen PTX live 3 times but it's been so long and I miss themmmm😭
Matt on the precisions!!! ❤️ Talent doesn’t describe this group!
They are all humble , supportive of each other and each one is off the charts talented. Together they are a force
There is no limit to the admiration I have for Kevin as a musician and as a human. Plus, he does this whole segment while the rest of the band (minus Matt with the assist on drums) is backstage catching their breath or, from what I’ve seen in video snippets, watching in admiration from the sidelines. I’m so glad you loved it too! Thanks for keeping PTX in your rotation. Peace …
😁👍
Seeing this live (from dead center of the 5th row, no less) was an other-worldly experience!! And as a violinist who attempted to learn the cello, my mind was completely boggled! You hit the nail on the head with Carlos Santana meets cello. I am so excited to see them on the first stop of their summer tour next month! I'm pretty sure Kevin always has a bit in the middle, so can't wait to see what he does!
I was honestly thinking I would get some negative comments for the Santana comparison. So, I'm glad you appreciated it 😊
@JeffreyHackReacts I think that Santana would approve. I also saw this live (2 row, 1st level) and as hard as it is to believe, it is even better live.
Kevin is what we call an overachiever.
😂🎵
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 They're all very humble...
I saw this live at the Christmas concert. It was perfect! So exciting watching him.
I know I am late to the game, but I just want to point out what you don't see. What you don't see is the trio in the wings just going crazy listening to this genius.
It was fated that they find each other. 😊
That was phenomenal! Kevin has mind blowing talent and you are right he does seem so humble! Crazy!🔥🔥
I was there in Rupp Arena and he blew the roof off! It was fantastic! All of PTX are humble!
Wow! That's incredible!
So glad you did this!!!
My Dad listened to Classical all my life, but really didnt "enjoy/appreciate" it till my early 20s.
But Kevin is quite the enigma, and has such a bright and shining heart and soul.
A limitless talent of extraordinary proportion.
Thank you for sharing this!!! ❤
Kevin took Beethoven's 5th & turned it into an amazing beatboxing & headbanging rock song. I've heard others mix classical & rock before (I was lucky to go to a Trans Siberian Orchestra Christmas concert with family several years ago & there were songs where the violinists were full on rocking out!) but even that was not quite at this level of genre mixing. Can't wait to see what Kevin does next. 😮
I have seen TSO Christmas show also. Firstly I do not Celebrate Christmas because I am Jewish. Secondly and it really has nothing to do with being Jewish I just hate Christmas songs. Particularly if you have worked retail and you have heard the same songs over and over and over. It really numbs you. The only Christmas music I will listen to is trans Siberian orchestra and Pentatonix. I get to see them in September and I hope this is part of the show. I've seen them once before and it was a mind blowing experience
@@lesaahrenstein6360 Ahh, I feel for you working retail during Christmas shopping season, especially these days. Thankfully when I was 19-20 my 1st official job (had done babysitting, grass cutting, etc since age 12) was as a cashier at a grocery store so old they didn't have a PA system good enough to put music on all day. This was a little over 30 yrs ago & the building was nearly 50 at the time, meaning when it was designed & built no one had thought about annoying the workers all day in order to entertain customers while shopping.
We saw PTX in December of 2022 and he performed this and it was absolutely amazing!!! As were of course the rest of PTX! Hope to get to see them again someday!
Very cool!! 🎵
Kevin specifically, but the band generally, put on such a great show. I saw them during this tour…such an amazing experience.
I can only imagine!
I got to see this live in Nashville - from the 3rd row. Stunned is the best word I can come up with. RESPECT for Kevin and his God given gifts!
Don't forget his other instuments and multi langueges. Also his singing voice.
Oh yeah! He's a multitalented instrumentalist and vocalist.
KEVIN!! PTX!!
That was amazing! It really shows off Kevin’s talent and his relation to the audience. I can tell when you’re impressed with what’s going on. Your eyebrows go up and you have a smile on your face. I saw it several times during this song!
I'm glad you enjoyed the reaction! Like I've said, my reactions are real and authentic. Either my audience is getting the real thing, or nothing at all.
While watching this video I kept saying "Just wait!" and looked forward to your experiencing Kevin's Fifth. I like to watch someone else be as gobsmacked as I was when I first saw it. P.S. He spent a year in China and speaks Mandarin.
Love this I saw this live when they toured Australia kevin is frickin amazing and matt on drums brilliant 👍
Cool of him to bring Matt in on the drums too.
I saw this live from the 2nd row in September! So amazing!
I think we need a EEG of Kevin’s brain when he does this!
Whole new level of appreciation!
I'm so happy that you reacted to Kevin's 5th. Everyday I scan all the reactors I subscribe to for their reactions to this and very few people that I've seen have reacted I love the origin story the performance and of course the performance was stunning.
Great reaction.
Thanks 😊👍
Lets go!!!!ooh yeah 👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥 Amazing OMG OW!!!!I gotta gibtinhis concerts fun, dancing the music is phenomenal 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Glad you enjoyed the video 😁
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
❤️😁
Kevin also speaks fluent CHINESE.
O-LOOSH- ah-la
APOCALYPTICA, That is what you must see too!
Demi rocks it
Demi?
Sorry. Im old school.
You do know that the drums were played by Matt Sales, don't you.
you only talk about keivin and scott what about matt he is in perfomance too.
I didn't realize Matt was playing the percussion in the background... Otherwise, I would have spoken up. Thanks for bringing that to my attention though.
Many people miss that is Matt!! This group is beyond measure!
