I have a theory: the grim reaper saying "do you want to go on an adventure" could of been an unused popup supposed to be said by a broken NPC that defaulted to Grim
It's possible that it only picked Grimm because no other NPCs has been generated yet.

Personally a fan of the theory that Adventureland takes place in the future. Sunset Valley has long since been abandoned by it's inhabitants, and no one is quite sure why--even the name of the town has been lost to time. And yet, curiously, the town remains untouched and undisturbed. Adventurers Jack and Sally intend to go find out exactly what happened to the townies of Adventureland.

@Emily Hawz it’s because it was so random. The players that have played since the game first came out and played world adventure when it first came out. It was never there. I honestly didn’t think much about it when it first popped up in my game. I thought it was a cc glitch of some kind. But after watching this it’s really weird and creepy. I’ve been playing Sims 3 since it came out. It was not there until recently for me.

This is so funny I've had adventureland on my game since I installed world adventures. I looked it up on the Sims wiki, saw that it was a test world, shrugged, and never thought about it again. I can't believe it's this huge conspiracy lol
Me too! I was confused when I saw this video because I thought Adventureland just came with World Adventures. I thought it was unnessesary because there wasn't anything special in it, but not scary.

As much as I like OPs theory reality is different.
It's just another game bug leftover from older developments that gets triggered with whatever there is out there that triggers it. There are lots of factors that went through developments and what causes what to break too. I will mention few key things.
This game was made back in Windows XP-Vista days Win7 wasn't even out or considered to be used for TS3. I remember tons of issues playing on Win7 compared to previous platform and drivers. TS3 was an unfinished mess no matter the OS. Also been rebooted 2-3 times and lots of codes remained in the game. So on top of that the constant change of PCs didn't help.
Certain drivers and systems will corrupt your game and trigger bugs that were never there before or to some it will appear and to some it wont. Also it can even go to the lengths of making ''new'' content for you with still incoherent data.
Some might say this is some developer's trollin but keep in mind a developer can't write a code to be triggered on a thing that doesn't exist. Case and point also how TS2 have lots of issues on modern systems because it was only codded to run on WindowsXP.
So who say ah those are jokes left in by the devs. Yeah magically devs knew what Windows7-10-11 etc will be, magically knew every future OS and hardware drivers updates etc every single tiny operations of the same so they will code in scripts that will be triggered by these devices from the future ... wake up pls.
This is another case and point why PC was and still isn't ideal for gaming because there are millions of iterations of it and constant changes due to some agendas so people will never create a perfect video game that magically runs on every PC. This is why consoles exist, so you play on consoles and work on PC or use it as a casual device.
So in this case it's another bug that creates a mess which on top you project things onto it that don't exist trying to justify it's existence.
Keep in mind also this game changed lots of developers so if you go and seek them out it will be hard, or if you ask them if they know anything about it they will probably say they don't remember, justified since over the years you really don't remember what you made and often your task seems out of place when you seen it implemented into the entire game because you only worked on a small portion of it.
@@minmogrovingstrongandhealthy is that why you can't get the Sims 1 or 2 on Origin? I was always a little frustrated that I couldn't find them, but I never considered the different operating system coding, that makes sense.

Adventureland was a test world by EA while they were developing world adventures to test traveling

@@michelleb2722 I certainly didn't, though I could see it being test dialogue to get the player into the World Adventures pack. Kind of like the mascot for University. Maybe the team scrapped that idea, but some code was left accidentally or something.
My guess is that Adventureland is some kind of debug sandbox test world they used while making the World Adventueees expansion pack. It’s common for game developers to have very empty testing places so it’s likely they copied Sunset Valley and renamed it Adevntureland to test out a few WA Sims. The Sims look like adventurers so it was likely to test how their outfits would look like. They probably forget to remove the world so sometimes the debug world accidentally shows up as it would still be left in the code
We need an Entire History of that CC doll that breaks your game, along with other random bad CC (like that dumb horse outfit). It always spooked 12 year old me out.

@@ConfuzzledOwO it should be in your launcher under the items you've downloaded. if you go through the launcher and get rid of it & it's still there it's probably attached to something you downloaded off the exchange, like a specific sim. i had to uninstall all the sims i got off the exchange because bad cc would attach itself to them

I’ve seen a vid before talking about a cursed doll in the sims 3, which was a corrupt file that would attach itself to cc and cause issues and I thought this video was going to be this but about adventureland, which instantly worried me because I have this world lol can she not scare me like that!!!
@@riggamorrischan Don't worry too much! I've had it for quite a while now, and it's never caused any problems. If you're super scared, then you can skip playing in it. You won't miss anything.

This sounds like a map for testing pathing. Back when I was making sims 3 maps, I tested a mostly empty version that I tried to get the camera stuck in. What has happened is that the test map has, one way or another, accidentally been made accessible for some players, rather than just something that was only achievable if you knew the cheat to get there

This sort of easter egg used to be a pretty common way for devs to brag. They'd insert themselves into their work as NPCs or photos of themselves hidden unless you had the right combination of inventory items etc etc. So Adventureland could be some scraps they decided to turn into an easter egg.
This felt like a true crime documentary. Lol. Maybe Jack and Sally are the real abductors of Bella Goth.
there is map that has the grave of Bella Goth and I think has her kid living there since she could not head back home to the Goth family and idk which map it was but you can buy from the store of The Sims 3. :)
My theory was that Sally and Jack were in some sort of purgatory, getting to live the dream that they didn't in real life which is why the town is empty and the Grim Reaper asks you if you want to go on a final adventure.

Apparently it was a world used for testing the World Adventures pack that was mistakenly released and was supposed to be removed. It was used to test the various items and interactions for that pack
Yeah, I'm fairly sure Adventureland was just the tester world for World Adventures (as it only appears with WA) that appears as a mistake. Glitch could even be caused by the presence of Ambitions or something.
I don't think it's that weird that it was accidentally made available to people.
@@caitlin329 Adventureland is weird because it was added during the final patch of the game (or one before), after all the packs were already released. It probably was someone forgetting to exclude it in the build of the game which causes it to appear.

Na it doesn't have anything to do with ambitions as that is the only pack i don't have installed (i have a hardcopy but it's not mine so it's not on origin) yet it still shows up in my game

Always had access to Adventureland but it just seemed like a sunset valley clone so I never played in it. I never even knew it had sims. The world adventures theory makes sense, Jack and Sally are both wearing WA explorer clothes.

I love playing in Adventureland especially with the Progression mod because it gets stocked with randomly generated sims so you get a whole new town every time :)

So what is it, is it an brand new world or recycled pleasant view? I don't understand the person on the video also I don't remember too much about this game, it's been more then 10 years since last play it, or better say tried bcs it was unplayable mess. So just wondering a new world or recycled with no sims inside (not counting the obvious 2). Other then that I got the most of it.
I have acouple videos on my channel showing it, it’s a testing world they used for world adventures expansions that was left in the game by mistake and shows up sometimes if you download from origin :)

Adventureland definitely sounds like a start of a creepypasta and I’m loving it! I feel like I’m going back in time back to 2011, that’s when I found creepypastas and read quite a lot of them so this feeling is giving me nostalgia =D
Sims 3 is literally terrifying in multiple ways
especially if youre on a lower end laptop.. i remember i was playing once and i wanted to get a picture of one of my sims once so he was talking to his sister and i had her pull out her phone, yada yada.. they were talking beforehand and i kinda forgot about them and like maybe 30 seconds later my sim pops up on my screen his face fully unrendered 😟 he didnt even have eyes !! i didn't have a good nights sleep for almost a week after that and even after, the image was burned into my mind.. worst jumpscare of my life
The game running like ass and on top of it have those creepy haunted doll looking sims. Always hated that game. Up until TS4 came out and said yo you think 3 is bad? hold my beer.

Here is something that I have been wondering about that may interest you.
With Cottage living we got Cordelia’s secret cottage, so I download the Princess Cordelia household from the gallery and started playing them. Had Cordelia paint all 3 of her boyfriends and decorated the cottage with all the “Cordelia” objects from build/buy. In build/buy one of the items is a set of decorative plates with parrots. The description tells us that Cordelia’s boyfriends loved parrots, but there are 4 plates with parrots, but she only had 3 boyfriends…..mysterious, I think so. After having her paint for ages she eventually painted what could be a pirate, is this Cordelia’s 4th boyfriend? I have asked EA but they never answered.
The 4th plate is probably supposed to be hers, and the devs were just too lazy to edit the 4th plate in the set so they made all the plates have a parrot
I worried. I got Adventure land after I modded my sims 3 game for the first time.
EA shut Origin down for good and I had to use their app instead. Sims 3 has been a buggy mess ever since (I know this is not new to other people, but I have been very lucky. I haven't had so many bugs before). I have always played vanilla.
Reinstalling and clearing out remaining files didn't work.
So I began modding my game to combat bugs.
Imagine my thoughts when I saw Adventure land?
I thought it was a virus or something else corrupt..
So thank you. I won't worry I downloaded something I shouldn't have, and instead enjoy my new addiction to Sims 3 mods 😆 😁👍
Wasn't there a custom content baby doll for Sims 2 that infected a whole bunch of people's computers and it attached itself to files whether you wanted it to or not?

YUP! i got the doll in my game back in the day & it honestly didn't do much except mess up babies. most ppl got it from the sims 3 exchange, as you never really knew what you were getting when you downloaded stuff from there.
Also that one glitch that (similarly to the doll) infected a bunch of CC package files and turned people's Sims into freaky centaurs. Good times

@@GrimRaven2938 no it was made by a content creator and was cc.. but it attached it'self to every single file meaning that downloading any building from the exchange could cause it to be downloaded to your system there were also outfits similar to it but those were more annoying aesthetically like the centaur body and some basegame clothes that were unlocked for all ages causing babies to spaz out
Would love to see you talk about the video clips that are shown on the sims’t televisions in all sims games. Like how gameplay from the sims 1 is shown is the sims 2 television sets. Or how your sims can play the sims 3 in the sims 2 via computer.

I love The Sims 3, and I miss playing it so much. I stopped playing it after I got my new Mac because it has a super annoying glitch that EA refuses to fix or even acknowledge.
Basically, there are no available water options in the game - which makes it really shitty when playing Island Paradise. Your sims can't interact with the water, in any of the neighbourhoods. No swimming or snorkeling in the ocean? What!?
I contacted EA about this and they said it wasn't a knows error and they will forward this onward. I have researched online and there are many people having this issue. There is a whole forum dedicated to this issue. Basically, it's been about a year and still there are no news about it. Probably they are never going to fix it.
I was hoping maybe some UA-camrs can make some noise about this and help get this fixed. For everyone. Thanks.
I didn't even know Adventureland was something you couldn't get. It was just there as an option for me, and I never really did anything with it because I figured it was a glitch and didn't want to mess up my game. I'm excited to see the theories for this!
Edit: I will say, I don't know if the thing about it being tied to Ambitions is true. It appeared for me when I first downloaded the Sims 3 because I also bought a couple packs (including World Adventures) in a sale of sorts. I didn't have Ambitions when it appeared.

Even if you never downloaded it, I’d still say the ambitions theory holds weight because the pack was still available on your laptop, which could be what triggers it.

I have Adventureland and here’s my experience: I had just gotten a new laptop and was installing all my expansions. I hadn’t played the sims 3 in awhile and clicked the world Adventureland mistaking it for sunset valley. The world for me was just sunset valley but completely empty (or at least from what I saw). It was a bit eerie looking back but I had just thought it was some sort of preset made to let users fill in the town with their own sims.

I really like the idea Adventure land could be like a purgatory. The Grim Reaper comes to get you when you're ready to go to the afterlife, but for the time being you get to have a little adventure. The two townies could be the judge whether you get to go to the good or bad afterlife (i.e. heaven or hell). Jack has the friendly trait, so he fits the good afterlife, and Sally is a dareDEVIL and Lucky (in Christianity, luck isn't a thing as everything is the will of God and therefor luck can't exist)!! No thats a stretch but I like the idea

my theory is that the developers wanted to do more of a story type pack like strangerville did in sims 4. adventureland mightve been a place to hold npcs until the player started the story that was planned for world adventures? Like they did in sims 2 for a lot of npcs.
So i imagine the way it would go is that youd start a new save and start playing a sim and then when u decide to adventure, maybe something like 2 tour guides (the sims in adventureland) go visit the worlds with you and serve as a tutorial, story progressers or lore tellers?
I’ve been playing TS3 since it came out and I never had adventure land until last month. I already had the game downloaded on this computer for like 2-3 years and it popped up out of nowhere so I thought that I downloaded cc on accident and it glitched bc it looked like the normal town. I was about to delete it but I’m so glad that I didn’t, I never even knew that there was mystery town. I feel so special to have it even though it seems to be a glitch lmao. Although, if it’s a glitch instead of a joke or something why is the grim reaper in adventure land asking players things instead of another npc?

for me I first played The Sims 3 and I sometimes played it and than one day I notice Adventureland and I think I have played in it few times and never notice anything strange than again that was along time ago and when my D Drive broke I had get new one and reinstall The Sims 3 and 4 and when I installed The Sims 3 I still had Adventureland. XD
The townies names kinda rhymes with the X-Files main characters.. and then the hair colors for the sex of the characters kinda rhymes too. Probably just a test town that was accidently left in the files for one build. Some dev was testing something for that build and found it worked correct or fixed it and uploaded/merged the files he/she had to the game compiler resources rather than deleting the world and everything to do with it before the upload/merge. And thus one version of the game that had a bug unique to it for the update ending up with the game testing world. If they know of it and have not acknowledged any intentions for the players to have it then it is a private test world they never intended anyone to see, better to ignore it rather than name and shame the employee that screwed up so bad.
Always thought it was just a test world that the devs left behind
In my opinion, I was formulating a post-apocalyptic scenario where someone Thanos snapped all of the Sunset Valley civilians way and Jack + Sally are there to explore what remains.
I loved the sims 3 so much, but the fact that the team left the island paradise broken and never really fixed it.. Is a big reason why I'm SO tired of the team and now this? How can they NOT address this? It's honestly mind boggling

they haven't even updated the sims 3 to 64bit for pc, & the sims 3 packs are still sold on origin at full price, it's so annoying

An entire history of weird glitches/bugs could be interesting
So I know of good ol' adventure land. I only see it when I want to travel using the World Adventure system to go to China, Egypt, or France. But I don't see it in the main menu pick a starting world. And I think that's because I use the NRAS Travel mod which allows me to vacation in the normal worlds such as Bridgeport and etc.
Uhhh… I decided to start playing my old Sims 3 game again, loaded up, totally forgot about this video, loaded it up, and there it is. Adventureland. With Hardy and Ransone households on Sun Song Avenue. I guess I’m gonna try to live in the house between them and see what happens.

I always feel so much for people living in London etc. I'm lucky to live in a big town near Newcastle with relatively low crime rates and so the idea of being scared to go outside in case you get attacked TERRIFIES ME 😬😱
when moving to new house best to look at the neighborhood to see if there is crime rate there and there is website to help which I am not sure what its called but my sis used it to look for apartments and making sure there is no crime rates or very little of it and its understandable to go outside for me I am afraid of people when I am outside so when I see someone sometimes I go back inside until they leave and I am also afraid of being outside at night since its dark and my mind go wild. XD
I started up the Sims 3 while turning on this video. And Adventureland is now an option in my towns. It wasn’t there the other day.
Adventureland is the Upside-down, like Stranger Things.
I believe this map was meant to serve as a like... getaway destination like the sim's version of egypt and china. This map was likely meant to be made very differently and was only using sunset valley as a placeholder. It was a test map. the sims, which are very compatible, were likely to serve as tutorial sims. So, maybe this world would of been shown to us only in a tutorial regarding World Adventures but they scrapped the idea and just decided to give us it as a bonus world with the last patch as a way to send off the Sims 3.
This is an amazing theory! I would've loved if they put it as a tutorial world and gave the option to fully control and play in it later.

Currently the response to this video can be read on the Sims wiki in less than 2 lines. There is nothing strange or mysterious. Just a test world that the developers forgot to delete from the code.

knowledge sims always have a positive memory about abduction, wether it's them or not, and doesn't matter if they have positive relationship with the person abducted or not, that's just how knowledge sims work

It's just another game bug leftover from older developments that gets triggered with whatever there is out there that triggers it. There are lots of factors that went through developments and what causes what to break too. I will mention few key things.
This game was made back in Windows XP-Vista days Win7 wasn't even out or considered to be used for TS3. I remember tons of issues playing on Win7 compared to previous platform and drivers. TS3 was an unfinished mess no matter the OS. Also been rebooted 2-3 times and lots of codes remained in the game. So on top of that the constant change of PCs didn't help.
Certain drivers and systems will corrupt your game and trigger bugs that were never there before or to some it will appear and to some it wont. Also it can even go to the lengths of making ''new'' content for you with still incoherent data.
Some might say this is some developer's trollin but keep in mind a developer can't write a code to be triggered on a thing that doesn't exist. Case and point also how TS2 have lots of issues on modern systems because it was only codded to run on WindowsXP.
So who say ah those are jokes left in by the devs. Yeah magically devs knew what Windows7-10-11 etc will be, magically knew every future OS and hardware drivers updates etc every single tiny operations of the same so they will code in scripts that will be triggered by these devices from the future ... wake up pls.
This is another case and point why PC was and still isn't ideal for gaming because there are millions of iterations of it and constant changes due to some agendas so people will never create a perfect video game that magically runs on every PC. This is why consoles exist, so you play on consoles and work on PC or use it as a casual device.
So in this case it's another bug that creates a mess which on top you project things onto it that don't exist trying to justify it's existence.
Keep in mind also this game changed lots of developers so if you go and seek them out it will be hard, or if you ask them if they know anything about it they will probably say they don't remember, justified since over the years you really don't remember what you made and often your task seems out of place when you seen it implemented into the entire game because you only worked on a small portion of it.

The theories don't matter. Sims 3 adventureland was created during the creation process of "world adventures" the developers used the world to test aspects of the game. It was accidentally left in the origin release specifically of the game, which is why it didn't show up on everyone's game. It still shows up in game if you download via origin today. (2021)
Note: sims 3 games are 50% off on origin. I needed new expansions again so this was great.

I live alone, love all things scary, creepy, macabre and horror related. I understand the logical reasons for this world and it's probably Jesse's storytelling but I am very uneasy rn. I know it sounds silly and I can't explain it but I have this "something is very wrong" feeling in a dark way. Amazing video but holy cow it caught me off guard.

My favourite thing was the time Romeo and Tybalt spontaneously fell in love in my mum's game. I have no idea how it happened. I later tried to replicate it on purpose and it was really hard to even get them to stop hitting each other.
I always play in adventure land.. the town loads super fast because it’s not bogged down with extra sims and I can use story progression without the whole town being infested with Bunch DNA 😂😂😂

The name "Adventureland" sounds like a Disney World park, and the fact that the town is abandoned is much like this one Disney park that was an island in the middle of a lake that got abandoned and nobody was allowed to go to it. I don't exactly remember the name of that Island but supposedly it had exotic birds and animals on it that people could go to see by taking a boat to the island.
