Was fortunate to see her and her awesome bandmates a few nights ago. It was truly phenomenal. At least as enjoyable and impressive as anything I've heard in 45+ years of loving music.
Aldous Harding is so cool, I love the quirkiness she puts into her videos, and her facial expressions show she’s feeling everything in the particular song she’s singing.
This is a great song Aldous Harding is one of my favorite singers BECAUSE her music is very different than anything out there she just dropped a new one called Fever but every now and then I need to hear Horizon
Great songs and a very naturalistic, almost mysterious charisma to both her writing and performances. There's no one else whose music feels like hers. A truly rare artist.
Harri, please check out Aldous Harding "Swell Does The Skull". It is more folky. Beautiful, emotional...And she's playing her guitar in a bathroom. Just Aldous and her guitar....It is magic!!!!!!!
My favorite music video of 2019. It combines song, dance, poetry, and humor in a beautiful performance-art package. Aldous Harding (b. Hannah Sian Topp, 1990) is from Lyttelton NZ, though I think she may have been born in Auckland. She has also lived in Wales. Be sure to react sometime to her "Fixture Picture" video, which is also wonderful.
So awesome! Love your reaction! And I agree. Aldous (Her name is Hannah) is so very talented. Her mother is a folk artist in New Zealand as well. I'm going to see her in Asheville this Summer.
This video was my introduction to Aldous Harding. I literally listen to all type of music so UA-cam will suggest stuff and this had a picture of her with that hat on in the middle of her dance. It kept popping up so I finally watched it because it looked weird. It was awesome!! I listened to some of her other stuff and I think she is one of the best artist on the planet today. A TRUE songwriter and artist. You should definitely listen to some of her other songs. Enjoyed your reaction video. Keep it up!!
Her music and videos remind me of the amazing performance pieces by the Talking Heads. David Byrne, and I think one or more of the band members, were former art students. They created mind-bending visual concepts to pair with their obtuse lyrics. I wouldn't be surprised if Aldous is also an accomplished visual artist as well as musician. (I think she must have had formal dance training too!)
You were feeling it. I love it.😁 You were visibly moved, I could see it. Made me feel the same way when I first heard it. Saturday afternoon, early spring, standing in the kitchen, toasting a piece of bread. 😂 This song gets me high every time I hear it. Still. Thousands of times later. ❤️ I LOVE HER. 😁🤭
Hello from New Zealand. Its always cool to find people discovering the awesome weirdness that is Aldous Harding. Just dont hurt your head by trying to figure out whats she means. Lots more NZ songs to discover but nothing like her, try Tall Dwarfs, The 3ds, Headless Chickens, Subliminals, Snapper, the Verlaines
Wow!! I love your reaction to Aldous Harding!! She is an amazing artist and her songs are so strange and original! A true original! If you've not heard of her I think you'd enjoy Susanne Sundfòr for similar reasons!
Clicking on that dramatic thumbnail was the best choice I ever made! My interpretation of the lyrics change with every listen. Even when I first misheard a few words they were still dead important to me.
I've got her first album but I don't think that I have any others, but mine does have "Hunter" on it which I think you have already chosen as your other choice. I like her very much. Harri, remember you have another song by her to play.
If you like her style you should definitely listen to a band called “this is the Kit” especially their songs “silver John”,”all in cahoots” and “earthquake”. Would love to see your reaction to “This is the Kit”
I dig the melody of the song, and her voice. Not sure about the meaning of the lyrics?? But that's not always important 🎶🎵 If you like quirky vocalists you may like LP. She's awesome 💚
I agree! Aldous Harding and LP are my two favorites! I got to see both of them last year! One in my hometown, LP was at the Ryman Auditorium. Best show I've ever seen in my life!!! And Aldous Harding was in Ashville SC. Smaller venue, but just a fabulous show!!!! Harri, you should check out LP's music! Peace!!!!
Harri, if you like this you'll love Aimee Mann, Wise Up, Save Me, 31 Today, or really anything else by her. Another similar artist for you is Julia Fordham, Happy Ever After.....enjoy
I must admit I am one of those people that prefer music from the 60s and 70s and some from the 80s and 90s. Modern music tend to leave me cold. However, a few years ago a friend sent some links to this and a couple of Aldous Harding videos. Like yourself I was completely won over:)
I have been trying to sus out what the lyrics are about mr harry and have come to the conclusion it is about pregnancy and child birth - fertility - maybe ‘the barrel’ is a reference to the birth canal? What think ye all?
It's an exaggerated Puritanical outfit, and the hat so tall it starts looking witchy to you -- Puritan = Witch -- you got that before she even did the big reveal! Good on ya. But barrel can equal the birth canal, and the pain of emerging. Or, the barrel you go over the waterfall in. Is love worth it or are we only being used? It hurt to be born but in perhaps being abused we are creating another life out of that pain? Should she take the chance?
@@livus3787 Yes, but I get the feeling she's saying it's not gonna happen with the guy it's aimed at. But then why is the date set? Maybe she's saying to him don't run away with ideas of the future this is just a date.
You either get her and are blown away, or you're mystified and confused lol
She is pure magic- great reaction! Awesome you appreciate her 💫
'Without music I'd just die'. Me too. Subscribed. 👍🏻
Love her too
It has everything you could want: a The Holy Mountain by Jodorowski reference in her outfit, a womb analogy, everything!
All I can say is that she is the most mesmerising live performer I have ever seen . She is a totally original artist ♥️♥️😤
Was fortunate to see her and her awesome bandmates a few nights ago. It was truly phenomenal. At least as enjoyable and impressive as anything I've heard in 45+ years of loving music.
She’s a brilliant. I like your reaction and your channel is great👍🏻 I’ve subscribed
Ey... you're listening Aldous Harding, and The Barrel song is great and the video is totally amazing! 👌🏽💞
Aldous Harding is so cool, I love the quirkiness she puts into her videos, and her facial expressions show she’s feeling everything in the particular song she’s singing.
A special talent. Was stopped in my tracks when she appeared on Jools Holland singing her song Horizon.
This is a great song Aldous Harding is one of my favorite singers BECAUSE her music is very different than anything out there she just dropped a new one called Fever but every now and then I need to hear Horizon
Thank You so Much! Aldous Harding is such a stunning artist.
This was the first song I heard of her. Got instantly enchanted... 😀
I'm so glad you love this! It is beautiful and quirky. The whole album, Designer, is excellent.
Her music’s really something. I’ve got Designer on vinyl for special occasions.
Great songs and a very naturalistic, almost mysterious charisma to both her writing and performances. There's no one else whose music feels like hers. A truly rare artist.

Same except I just discovered this song and her less than a couple months ago

All of her music is amazing.
You quite sincerely made my day. We are obviously kindred spirits, lol. Thank you for this.

She is a musical genius.
I loved this, how cool to be turned onto something new and eccentric. Thanks.
Never heard of her , until I watched this! Thanks Harry! I am checking out the rest of stuff!
I noticed I spelled your name wrong, my apologies Harri :(

She Da Gem
I love yr reaction.❤
I’m with you in every aspect
I'm glad you listened to this I love it too
I love Aldous so much. I live in New Zealand and she's unheard of here, people are so consumed by trashy radio stations that wouldn't touch her music.
Eh! I'm a NZer and a huge Aldous fan.
Argh, Harri, I'm so glad you loved it so much!!!!! Really looking forward to Hunter (my other fave of hers)
I just heard this gem 2 days ago. From the moment I heard it I knew it was on e of those joints. You proved confirmation bias. You sir have good taste
If you like this song, I recommend her short concerts on KEXP and Tiny Desk Concerts. They include this song as well as some other great songs.

Great reaction, Harri! It was wonderful experiencing this with you!

♡
Harding is brilliant. She has a new album coming out very soon, just FYI.
Thanks for the heads up! She's already a young legend!
Her voice sounds so much like Dido's.
I've got her first album but I don't think that I have any others, but mine does have "Hunter" on it which I think you have already chosen as your other choice. I like her very much.

Mennonite visual vibe...ok too. Then the blue mask appears. Lou Reed estate sale? 😮😂✌😘🎶🎹💖👽

She's pretty great. Check out the video for her song Horizon from her previous album.
Just discovered her myself! I'd love you to react to something else of hers. Horizon, Zoo Eyes, Blend....I could go on because I'm obsessed 😍 ♥
Yup I’m basically obsessed
Strange days indeed.
After watching this video I get the feeling that I am not in on the joke.

Angelina just dropped a cover today of Yesterday by the Beetles. Can you react to it please! Thanks!
I shouldn't have watched the video. I guess I just don't understand.

Fertility /Conception, mayybeee 😅 with the lyrics.. Does make sense 🤔 a bit 😃
