The harmony that this guy, and his band, Sons of the Desert, did on Leighann Womack's recording of this song, is my favorite harmony of any song, ever. It's just beautiful. Drew should've been huge. Not sure why he wasn't. Maybe he just didn't want to be.
Drew is an amazing talent I saw him with Lonestar in August and he hasn't lost his talent or voice even after all this time. I just loved him when he was with his group Sons of the Desert. It's just too bad they didn't get back together but I guess it's just as well because he is back out there with a bunch of talented musicians.
I SO wish that the Sons of the Desert recording of this song was available to listen to on UA-cam. I was in and out of Nashville touring with popular artists and remember when Tia Sellers was shopping this song around. This was supposed to be a SOD song. Sons of the Desert did the demo recording of it. Everyone I knew was so excited for them. A last minute label decision made it a Lee Ann Womack release. No disrespect to Lee Ann, but Drew and the boys killed it. This would have been their epic breakout hit. Her version isn't even in the same league.
Thanks for sharing this video. Back in college I picked up my first Sons of the Desert CD, and I;ve been hooked to Drew's voice ever since. If you see him, please tell him to come play here in Los Angeles. :)
actually it is Drew's harmonies on the original cut from Leighann's record when he was with Sons of the Desert. Have to check out his latest record, awesome.
um, no. He didn't write this song. Mark Sanders and Tia Sellers wrote it. His old band, "Sons of the Desert" sang the background vocals on it. He's also not related to LeAnn as many people think given they have the same last name.
his group, Sons of the Desert was the band on this song. I believe he's the one singing the male part on the second chorus. That may be what you're thinking.
