Sons of the desert were great. They got the raw end of the deal on two songs that would have made them a top band for years. This song and goodbye earl. We still have Drew Releasing music but the sons of the desert were magic.
Talent to spare! I had the pleasure of playing the band projects on several radio stations as a DJ. I would DRIVE AND BUY AN EXPENSIVE TICKET TO HEAR HIM SING!
I had no idea the Sons had recorded this first until tonight. One of my favorite songs...and I have to say I love Drew's version even more. I'm glad Drew is still playing -- just wish I wasn't so far away! I got to see the Sons live several times in high school and met a lot of great people via a Yahoo group for fans. Some of whom I met in person at shows. Discovering all of this tonight takes me back.
Tex Webster amazing songwriting as always by Nitty Gritty! Love all their stuff! But this has an unimaginable power and vocal that is hard to match (especially live!). Rascal flats also did a great version. But Drew always seems to pull his heart and soul into anything he puts his fingers and vocal cords into that just evokes ....magic! Amazing soul!
God we need more of this in 2023….
He plays with passion...He sings like it's the only thing he knows how to do. I've always loved his style...
Omg, I love the Sons of the Desert! His voice is haunting. Even all these years later after following them, I get lost in their voices and harmonies.
There is no other vocal that will ever top Drew .....
Seeing him live is on my bucket list..
@@TheSixstringsinner LET'S GO!

It was Nitty Gritty Dirt Band who first recorded Bless the Broken Road. Sons of the Desert also recorded it but it was unreleased.
The only take of this song that should exist.
That voice! Awesome
klement Ashley Nothing like it! This is live. Crazy!!!
My favorite country artist voice. So pure and real and this is the kind of stuff that proves it.
Damn AMAZING
Actually, it was first recorded by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Jeff Hanna, their lead singer wrote it. It was on their 1994 album "Acoustic"
