Great proverbs make for a great quiz. If you look closely, aphorisms and proverbs are "birds of a feather that flock together." Thank you for helping me enter a new day with my right foot! 👍😄🤓🐸🥰🤗

excellent quiz. I truly appreciate your time and effort for these proverbs. could you try a quiz without any answer options. please create a website with your different quizzes in different categories. ( 10/10)☺☺👍🏼👍🏼
This sort of quiz is always problematic because often proverbs are well known in one region or country and not in others. If you google for the "hungry belly has no ears" proverb, a lot of the results say it is an African proverb - or even from Haiti. I've never heard it in the UK. By the way - I like the music!
This was more difficult as I hadn't heard of 3 but lucky guesses gave me 9/10. I was told as a child that my eyes were bigger than my belly so that was the one I got wrong.
I got 9/10 missed the the difference between tiger or lion claws... meh, both got sharp claws... It was kinda like I was hanging out with my grandparents, they used to say these sort of things all the time when we were together.
Can’t believe I only got 6/10!! These were first 5 and last one. Never heard of the rest! I’m English with a degree in English so am annoyed with myself!
Only 5 of 10. I had only heard four of these (at my age, I thought I would've known a lot more 🙂) but only guessed - or properly reasoned - one of the remaining six.
A. Eckroth -- Unlike what's commonly known, the best aspect of a proverb is adaptability, not universality. If proverbs make little sense to you in English, try translating them to your mother tongue: they'll come out in a flood of popular sayings which you might have forgotten or never heard of. Different cultures produce identical proverbs, but they're "dressed" differently. That's what happened in my case.
Isn't it funny how, "Actions speak louder than words," is the exact opposite of, "A gooses quill is more powerful than a lion's claw!"? The first claims action is better than words, while the second claims that words are better than action!
@Sklag1, It's not referring to a "drinking straw." It's referring to "Straw" that's being used in house construction, as stuffing for mattresses and upholstery, for basketry, as fuel, and as bedding and feed for horses, cows, and pigs.
@@englishtestsandlogic I guess it refers to some historical way of making bricks. I didn't think of that, About 80% of houses are brick built going back centuries. No straw. :)
