I just enjoy watching you -- it's a bonus to learn the steps you so easily provide. I would not cut the tips any more; keep the integrity of the 'absent' band area. It is adorable. I had purchased a design but didn't want to try it until I saw your video. My granddaughter (she's 11) will love it. Keep these happy videos coming.
I would have never thought to use my hooping station! Thank you so much for sharing your technique with us! I’m excited to trying this out and looking forward to making many of these for my family! ❤

The most informative video of this trend!! Thank you for sharing your uh-oh's as well as what worked best for you. I just found your channel and I am now a subscriber 😊
You are such a joy to watch and learn from. Thank you, I didnt k now this was a trend. Where did you get your lovely headband from? Thanks for this wonderful tutorial
So cute! Thank you for the tutorial. I would like to try this!
Love it! I have been seeing these in all the embroidery groups as well but have not yet tried it. I do my own digitizing and have recently made several large applique bows, one of which I used on the front of a sweatshirt with sequin fabric and one on top of a large pumpkin. Well looks like I'm going to have to make some longer tails and try the applique on the sides of sweatshirt for sure. I love the idea of cutting off the bands. This will make this project more affordable to try with lesser expensive sweatshirts. I definitely agree with cutting the sweatshirt while it's still in the hoop. One thing I do with my appliques is press the prepared heat and bond fabric with an iron while it's still in the hoop before the final satin stitch. I'm wondering if this will help to do that first before cutting the sweatshirt. Might just make it a bit more stable when cutting, IDK? I'll find out though. Thank you so much for the tutorial, I know everyones going to love it!
Happy to see your smiling face!
just purchased the design and now after watching you i think i am ready to attempt. fingers crossed.
Yay!!! You've got this!
Thank you for this tutorial. I’m definitely going to try this.
Yay!! You are welcome!!!
Very cute. I'm definitely trying this 😊 Thanks for a great tutorial.
You're welcome! I hope it turns out perfect for you!
I am trying it with a t shirt first. I didn’t get my first bow down low enough 😮 but this bow has a thick border on it. It hide a lot of the cut fabric. I thought I got close enough. I am on a single needle machine. I love the idea to first embroider it onto the stabilizer. When I do a sweatshirt I can’t cut the band. I know I will mess that up. Yours turned out great. 🎉
I love this! Thank you.
Love your headband. I have the same fabric can’t wait to use it Thanks for sharing ❤you’re the best.
Thank you! its from Amazon!!!! lol isn't it the perfect Christmas Plaid!!! I have had that fabric in my stash just waiting for its moment to shine lol!!! Thank you so much for your kind words!
Great tutorial. Thank you so much.
You are so welcome! Thank you for being here!
Thankyou for Sharing your technique with this video!
You are so welcome! Hope it helps!
I tried it but with iron on glitter vinyl and it turned out so good!
Oh that sounds like a fantastic idea! Did you cut the band or leave it?
I still can't decide which I prefer! lol
Does the iron on gunk up your machine?
@@weiss146not for me but I brush and oil my machine regularly
Looks great🎄🎄
Thank you! 🎄
That hoop station 😍😍😍😍
Great tutorial! Thank you
Sew Cute! I have to make myself one!!
Thank you so much for the tutorial. The very first one I made, I cut into the stitches. So i am going to cut before the satin stitch. Thanks for the tip!!
I love your videos!
Thank you so much !!!
Just found your channel and subscribed! Love your choice of dark green sweatshirt with the red plaid fabric! So sew pretty😍. Thanks for sharing your techniques. Haven’t ever used a heat press nor a heat gun. Might give those a try sometime to see how I like them. Typically just use my domestic iron. Love your hooping station. Handy if you’re doing lots of shirts-which I don’t.😊 I’m strictly making one or two for myself and family.
Thank you so much for being here!! An iron for sure will work just fine too! And a lighter for a heat gun if needed! Yes the hooping station is super handy for hard to hoop items or for multiples but not necessary for sure!!! Thank you again for your kind words!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!
what is the link for purchasing the heat gun that you used?
Yay!!! So glad you love it! Here is the link to the heat tool I used: amzn.to/48l10q9
@@TheMonogramMompreneur Thank you!!
I love your tutorial and I have watched several. Thank you for it. Everyone adds heat 'n bond to the applique fabric but I don't understand why - you are the first teacher to explain WHY. I also love your Christmas music - very appropriate. My vote is no more cutting. Maybe fray check on the cut threads?
Thank you so much!!! Aww great! I am so glad it was helpful, I try to explain like I would if I had a friend over and she was doing embroidery for the first time!!! Thank you so much for being here!
OMG Love it 🥰
Love your shirt. I was wondering if you made your headband
thank you so much!!! No I did not make my headband it is from Amazon! Here is the link to it: amzn.to/3Z7B2T3 (*affiliated Link)
I just bought my sweatshirt and I have that same design. I'm jumping in and see how I do. I am so nervous and excited to try.
Yay! You’ve got this!
What do you think about creating a svg file of the design and cut it out on the Cricut so you don’t have all that trimming to do? Works great on regular appliqué.
Yes, absolutely, great tip, Especially if you are doing multiples!
Beautiful!!!!…. Thank you for your videos. Where I can get the heat gun, can I get any heat gun ?
Thank you so much!!! Here is the link to the heat tool I use: amzn.to/3YzR2Oq
@@TheMonogramMompreneur Thank you very much for taking the time to respond my question, although you provided me with the wrong link, I got it from someone else who asked the same question 😊… I am so happy I was able to try this gorgeous bow trend and even more happy with the results, I just need to get the heat gun to trim the edges…. I can’t thank you enough for sharing your knowledge …XOXO
Yes, I am doing this for my shirts. I will have to pass on doing Christmas sweatshirts as in Australia, it's summer during Christmas 🎄 😊
Haha I love it!!! That's a perfect idea! 🎄 We live in Florida so, sometimes we get a chilly day for Christmas and sometimes it is beach weather on Christmas, so I guess I need to make some short sleeve options too!🎄 OK question ..what is your traditional Christmas meal in Australia?
what kind of hoop are u using? magnetic? from where? I havent seen one like that! thanks for the video!!
I use sewtites to hold my stabilizer and love them
Oh I will have to look at that ! Thanks for the tip!
So cute! Thank you for the tutorial! Did you do your normal size in the sweatshirt or would you recommend sizing up?
Amazing tutorial! Thank you for sharing! The link for the heat n bond is the sweatshirt link.
You are so welcome! Oops, Thank you so much for pointing that out! It's fixed now!
I think if you fuse the heat and bond first it might help seal the fuzziness and will make trimming easier. I have been watching how to make patches and I believe they trim after they fuse the heat n bond. Just a thought 😊
Yes! sometimes I use my circuit mini press but I was afraid to move the stitches lol!! Maybe in the next one I will show pressing before satin stitch! Thank you for the tip!
Love your videos!! Can you show how to do this on a single needle machine? I'm still a newbie :)
Can’t wait to try this! Great video! I have never used a heat gun. Where did you buy that? Thank you 😊
Amazon! Here is the one I have: amzn.to/3UrViwX . They have them at hobby lobby and other craft stores too!
Have you ever used Fray Block on the edge where you cut the threads? It will seal them and washes ok too!
Great idea!!! I have some in my craft stash of forgot about! Thanks for the tip!
Thank you so much for the tutorial, what type sweat shirt did you use please?
Gildan 18000 in forrest green
I love your headband!!! Where did you find it?
Thank you!!! It's from Amazon! here is the one I have: amzn.to/49jRfce (affiliated link). I have worn it so many times and it is stunning, especially for less than $10! Hope you have a Merry Christmas!
Hi Ahsley, where do you get your blanks canvas? It’s the last step I need for my clothing business🙏🏽
I order my blanks from S&S Activewear or Jiffy Shirts!
Wow, you can pass for sisters with Vanessa Williams the actor, both you are beautiful.
Use a little Fray Check on the edges and it'll keep it from fraying
I LOVE your headband. Where did you get it?
Amazon! It is even better in person and it's less than $10! amzn.to/3OtoyA0
maybe a little fray check on the snipped stitch? Can i ask what size sweatshirt you ordered? i hate ordering clothing- lol- i never order the right size. I do like mine a little oversized
oh good idea!!! I will have to dig out my fray check!! Thank you! So I wear a medium and this is a medium unisex Gildan 18000. It is a little oversized but left room to cut the bottom band off!
@@TheMonogramMompreneur thanks for the reply- appreciate it! Definitely going to try this!
Love it soooooo much. Definitely going to try this. You mention that the Mighty Hoop is 13 inches, but your machine hoop is 12 inches. Can you help me understand how you can use a hoop that is 1 inch larger on your machine please. I ask because I am on the verge of getting this machine and we all want the biggest hoops we can get right, LOL Thanks so much for sharing your work with us.
Good Question!!! So this Brother Embroidery Machine won't stitch past 12 inches you are correct! So it won't stitch past 12 inches (it's actually less than 12 inches)..but this mighty hoop still fits! I just prefer this 8x13 hoop for big items like sweatshirts ! It fits in the same bracket size of the big hoop (8x12) that came with my brother machine! I hope this helps answer your question!!! Excited for you! Thanks again for your kind words!
@@TheMonogramMompreneur Thank you so much, exactly what I wanted to know!!!!
Did you make your headband. So cute 🥰 maybe a tutorial?
I do have an in the hoop headband design I had bought....But lol this one is from Amazon!! Here is the link to the one I am wearing: amzn.to/48hRqod
Super cool! On another note, can you give the name if digitizing places?
Yes I just found the designs/digitizers on Etsy. Their names are sometimes hard to say so I just call them Digitizers lol. On Etsy their shops are called: Artapli , Applique Alley , Kate and Rae Embroidery, and awstitchesdesigns . The specific designs I used are linked in the description of this video too ! Hope this helps!
Does the Heat transfer gunk up your embroidery machine?
Hmm not that I have found! I think if you were spraying adhesive that can gunk it up but I haven't found the heat and bond lite to gunk the machine up! Hope this helps!
Thank you for your video and all your tips. Do you have the link for the second Christmas tree design you shared? I tried searching for it but I can't find it.
You are welcome!! Yes they were so brand new when I filmed they were just getting listed! Here is the link to the second Christmas Tree: appliquealley.com/collections/new-designs/products/satin-split-christmas-big-christmas-tree-8332aaeh .That one she didn't post to Etsy so I had to find it on her website!
@TheMonogramMompreneur Thank you!
I only have the Brother skitch which it's largest hoop is 4x4; do you think I could do little mini bows?
Yes ! absolutely just check the sizes of bows before you buy and just float or hoop your sweatshirt!
The heat gun is a new one to me. What exactly does that do? Seal the threads?
yes exactly it just cleans it up! other people use a wood burning tool or lighter. We just have a heat gun for puff embroidery and I don't do good with an open flame! haha
I’m wondering if this could be embroidered on a T Shirt? Would I need a sturdier stabilizer or is knit material too light for such a design? Any suggestions?
I would use a heavier weight t-shirt like a comfort colors t-shirt vs something like a Bella canvas t-shirt!
Do you make your own headbands. I really like the one in this video.
Thank you ! I did not make this one! It's from Amazon! Here is the link to the one I am wearing: amzn.to/48hRqod
What are those scissors called?
Try fray check
Which heat gun do you use?
I just use one from Amazon! We use it for our puff embroidery hats too. Here is the one I have: amzn.to/3UrViwX
Could you please explain the use of the heat gun? I understand ironing the heat and bond. Thanks!
Yes...so some people like to use a lighter to seal the edges, prevent fraying, and just clean up it up....I do not like using an open flame lol so I use a heat gun and it draws in some of those fibers you weren't able to cut off! hope this helps explain!
I get it now, Thanks!
Do you think this would be possible with just an appliqué and hand embroidery? No machine here I just happened to find your video and think this would be perfect for a Christmas gift
Hello have you tried this bow embroidery with the PE900 embroidery machine? Will you do a video using that machine?
Did you finish the sweatshirt raw edge in any way such as hemming?
I did not ! You absolutely could OR leave the cuff /band on it for a finished edge!
I DO NOT HAVE A DIGITIZER HOW DO I GET THE PATTERN FOR THE RIBBON EMBRODIERY
Here is the link to the bow embroidery design I used in this video: shrsl.com/4q1io . You can purchase this design through Etsy and download to your embroidery machine!
Did you make your headband? If so what pattern did you use?
I did not! It's from Amazon! Here is the link if you want a closer look: amzn.to/48hRqod. You could totally make one similar !
How can we do this with just a regular machine? I don’t have an embroidery machine.
Honestly that might be easier to get it lined up just right. Apply heat and bond light to fabric. Trace a bow design on the fabric and cut it out. Iron the bow on the sweatshirt in the proper place. Cut the slit in shirt. Use a machine zigzag stitch to cover the raw edges.
What kind of hoop is that? Magnetic?
Yes, it is called a Mighty Hoop! They are magnetic hoops!
I’m having trouble keeping my shirt tight in my hoop and getting the bow at the bottom of shirt 😩
Ashley, I have a question and don't know how to post it (or where) to find answer. Then, I thought about you. I'm embroidering onesies/shirts for my 6 mo old granddaughter. What is the material you can iron on the back of the design so it doesn't irritate the baby's skin? I've tried searching UA-cam and Pinterest but no luck so far. Hope you can help me.
Sulky Tender Touch is what I use!
@@TheMonogramMompreneur I knew I could count on you. I have followed you and your work for a while and you never disappoint. I love the calm, patience, and sweet nature you bring to your videos. I have prayed that you and your husband's decision to do a home business is nothing but successful. Again, thank you!
❤❤❤
Thank you for being here!
What does the heat gun do?
some people like to use a lighter to clean up the edges and prevent fraying, it seals the fabric and thread.....I prefer a heat gun versus the open flame lol, I have burned to many things!!! Hope this helps!
Can you share the link to your heat gun? I don’t see it in the links unless I missed it. Thanks so much.
You should keep that little part of the seam, but bring the bow all the way down like on the first sweater.
It's nice seeing you back in your sewing room. Make more videos.
Why did you use a heat gun at the end? If I don't have a heat gun, will a lighter work - very carefully?
Yes! Just be careful!!! lol I am not skilled with an open flame so that's why the heat tool, but, yes a lighter or a wood burner tool I have seen people use as well!
