Looking good! I like raking but it's not my favorite. Mowing would be #1 for me. Windrows look great. You are correct on speed. If you are clogging up, slow down. I have only to dug mine out twice, that was enough for sure!I Hill country is a challenge, looking good during the sprint! I have some hay down, will bale on Sunday. Thanks. Tom and Sally! Our bale count is currently at 86 more than all last year, and still hopefully have one more solid cutting to go. Baling hay on these slopes in the mountains ain’t easy, but it grows some good hay. Best of luck to you baling this weekend, hope everything goes smoothly! Looking like some nice hay. We haven’t had any measurable rain fall since the end of June. The drought in our area has crushed us on hay for second and third cut. To make matters worse, we are now dealing with a foxtail issue. How are you planning on handling your foxtail issues? We plan on getting our PH up from 6.4 to closer to 7.
Sad to hear about how dry it is in your area. Praying for rain soon for you good folks. We will also admen’s soil again this winter with lime, and probably a bit more than a soil sample says based on our soil and results we had in our test plot by adding more that what the lab recommended (not a lot but more nonetheless). Foxtail is in the grass family and a challenge to deal with for sure. I’m still researching ways to deal with it this winter. Our best to you. God bless!
Good evening, hate to bother you again but just wandering how the 130 knot strength poly twine is working out? I may have missed your comments on the new twine? I am using the 190 sisle twine at the moment but mostly just curious for sure on your thought?
Have you had to change out the knife yet and if so what did you replace it with?? I haven't looked at mine close yet but probably going to need replaced or sharpened.
No I haven’t but I’ve noticed the last couple uses it’s getting dull. Mine appears to be a regular utility knife blade and should be easy to change out. That being said I haven’t changed it yet, so maybe not as simple as it seems? Soon to find out
Sir, may ask how much land do you feel is too much for that size baler? I have 10 acres and must purchase equipment and cannot afford a large baler. Forgive me if you have covered this, Jesus just lead me to your channel. Thank you for your help and your time
Thanks for the kind comment! Your question is tough to answer, it’s so dependent on if you have limited time, etc, as there are not “fast acreage” balers. I think 10 acres is very doable. I do about 7 acres quite easily. Thanks for dropping by, we sure appreciate it!
