TL;DR : Nahida changes mean you might wanna consider EM xingqiu/yelan/off-field ayato as the third hydro unit in your Nahida teams With the latest beta update, Nahida applies dendro on each E proc rather than with standard ICD, which significantly increases her dendro application. This means that while there's still an incentive to build a lot of EM on her (because her kit converts EM to crit and dmg%), her ownership of bloom reactions will be a lot lower than I anticipated in this video, because she'll apply enough Dendro to be Aura instead of trigger pretty often. Since her E applies 1.5u, and only triggers on reactions, you're basically guaranteed to have enough dendro for 3 Blooms triggered by your Hydro characters. This means there might be some value in building your Hydro characters with a lot of EM as well, not just your Nahida. It's hard to tell exactly which characters would favor EM over their usual builds, but I definitely do expect it to happen often enough to correct myself in a pinned comment. With the previous ICD, the mechanic would still have been the same, but it wouldn't happen often enough for me to consider it necessarily worth to build full EM on your characters.
Having Nahida + Nilou + Kokomi + Yelan/XQ seems pretty good though, isn't it? Nilou is really niche, but if I have Kokomi and Yelan and plan on getting Nahida too, seems like Nilou can be a good pull to have a good bloom option. Still really debating if I should just skip her. Wish she had more uses than just bloom.

Nahida is ok. Her coordinated E attack requires an elemental reaction to trigger, so in bloom teams she needs another dendro character to trigger bloom consistently in order to trigger her coordinated E attacks. I'm sure they're gonna release characters with less-restricted off-field dendro app in the future.

I’ve always thought it would be really cool if they made units for other elements that group. Like we could have a hydro unit that forms a whirlpool and groups enemies or a geo unit that uses quicksand. If we had a hydro unit like that it would make a huge difference for nilou.
@@Vorexxa Mona's and Amber's Es have already taught us that these types of taunts are basically non-functional as far as grouping goes. Too many ranged enemies, too many enemies hanging back from their targets like slimes or doing in-and-out attacks like the Kairagi. We need to physically force enemies into a spot if we want them to actually get there in a viable amount of time.
Her teams feel limited but her speculated teams and builds seem very interesting. She’s pretty with interesting gameplay which i like. Nahida working with Nilou should be obviously and lore wise, Nilou supporting on field Nahida is pretty neat with the Dance Of Subzeruz
Nilou is basically a hydro character, with Geo level of limitation. Probably not ideal to put her on other teams, but should work well on her niche, basically very Geo-ish. With that said, i have Kokomi, and will pull Nahida, so i will pull her still. After all at the end of the day, it’s still a new playstyle, and AR60 me don’t mind a niche character. Honestly i might have pull myself an Itto if i actually have Albedo and Gorou, but that’s not the case hah…
i did that because i got albedo, and zhongli and I dont even use itto that much he just cant out damage my ayaka freeze, raiden national and hu tao teams

The empowered bloom seems like it backfires on the team, if only that it doesnt friendly fire. Kit feels weird because it forces a healer while limiting the chars to dendro and hydro to enjoy nilou's passive. I hate the fact that nahida would feel like a "must pull" after you get nilou.
Yeah, playing Nilou without Nahida would probably feel like playing Xiao without a battery, terrible. Really love Nilou as a character and her aesthetics, but her mechanics are some of the worse and probably the most limited character wise.
Yeah I was trying a bloom team last week and noticed the self damage. It's small but it'll add up without a healer. I remember Xaio has a talent that makes it so he doesn't take fall damage so I wondered why doesn't Nilou have one that negates bloom damage? She's a cute character but looking like a rerun for me. I'll go for Nahida if I want a character who's cute and will be used more.
Really curious to see if Nilou Bloom or just regular Bloom teams could provide a use for Vermillion Hereafter artifacts (taking damage after burst buffs atk) other than just being BiS on Xiao and literally no one else.
That'd be pretty cool but her personal damage is full HP scaling, and farming a VH set on your other units that utilize attack seems meh no? Because they probably already have sets of their own
I mean it would have to be an atk scaling on field character who's not the one triggering the reactions, so it's unlikely, I just thought this is one of the only consistent sources of self damage in the game.

The meta right now is dominated by claymore characters that can defeat the rock node mini bosses much faster than most other characters. Ever since Zhong Li totally upset the meta on release noone has been able to dethrone him, but it looks like Nahida might upset the rock breaking meta
The meta right now is 4 healer/shielder team comp because having less than full health is giving anxiety so all healer/shielder team makes it anxiety free.
After the Hoyo declarations meta will no longer guide my pulls (it kinda didn't for a long time, this just put the final nail on that coffin), but theorycrafting is still interesting to play units optimally. Nice pre-release analysis. At the end of the day Nilou is still hydro so even if we ignore her passive she still could have some uses as a copium sidegrade or downgrade of other hydros.
hmm hardly will be the case since we already got character that are we better in hydro application, hydro buffing, hydro damage, hydro supporting hydro application: xinqiu, yelan, kokomi, hydro buffing: mona, yelan, kokomi and barbara, xinqiu hydro damage: childe, ayato, xinqiu hydro supporting: kokomi, barbara, candace, xinqiu thrilling tales: is what turns kokomi and barbara into buffers and yelans buff hp that is good for hu tao and zhongling xinqiu can do all but limited by his 4 star status like Nilou in what other position could be

@@rafael285pc thay's why OP said sidegrade or downgrade. Sidegrade means nor better nor worse, downgrade means worse but usable. Examples: 1. Kokomi is a sidegrade for teaser - Sucrose driver = better grouping but no dedicated healer. 2. Xingqiu is a great unit but in Ganyu freeze team for example he's a downgrade, just like Yelan (for obvious reasons). 3. Kokomi is a sidegrade in freeze to Mona (less dmg but you have a dedicated healer). In general, the character can be strong or not but that doesn't define how good they are in a particular team. I agree with OP that Nilou might be a sidegrade in some teams - let's not forget she has a hydro AoE on her burst and skill (that Barbara-like thingy but bigger) which already is valuable. But we can't be sure now since we don't know exactly how it will play,especially with so many artifact sets and weapon options. Leaks won't show you specific rotations or how difficult something is to execute. Oh and let's not forget Nahida isn't out as well, maybe she will actually make burgeon viable. Or who knows, they may announce a dedicated set for Nilou in 3.2 livestream. Basically nothing is set in stone, now more than ever since it's a very unique character

Nilou's passive could go like, having additional dendro or hydro teammate decrease the bontiful core trigger time by 1.5 sec. And possibly give additional dmg %. instead of punishing people, always reward people for playing that way.
Her kit being limited only for bloom teams, and requires at least one dendro character to function her bountiful cores really erks me as to why they love limiting such future units.

However, in Genshin Impact, [the] rules of gameplay [are more impactful] than how strong a character is. Therefore, new battlegrounds, new challenge levels, or even new team builds, all have potential to bring new life to existing content.
I want to see if it's enough healing when I put Prototype Amber to add a healer role to Nahida. - If it's enough, I might go with a team of Nilou with Fav or Sap, Nahida, DMC with Fav or Sap and Yelan with Elegy. - If it's not enough, I'll change Yelan to Xingqiu.
Assuming 30 blooms with each blooms dealing around 20k damage. That's a total of 600k damage per rotation. 5% of 600k is 30k damage, even if Nilou's tanking all the damage with her 50k HP, prototype amber will only heal for 18% of 50k HP or around 9k only. That's definitely not enough healing.

She could have been a must have for me if her passive triggers for Dendro reactions but scales per bloom or something, but having it so it can only work with Dendro and hydro teammates just ruins it for me. for me it really depends on how good she works with barbara since I don´t have kokomi and don´t want to wish for her, I would play without healer but since dendro cores dmg our own team that isn´t an option in nilou teams and so far we only have 2 hydro/dendro healer being barbara and kokomi
This is excellent content Zajef. Personally, I have zero desire in effectively wasting Kokomi or Nilou's kits by building them full EM, so the 1 Dendro triple hydro with Nahida will probably the team I play most once she's out. I may be wiling to sacrifice Barbara's kit and build EM on her since to be frank I don't play Barbara at all currently, but even that feels kinda janky to me. Nilou will certainly be a unique character in the roster. Very similar to Shenhe in that regard.
@@meowk123 Just because they have a certain character as their pfp doesn't mean they main them. It could just mean they like their design. Take me for example, I have kokomi as my pfp however I use her as a support for my teams not as a main DPS.
I'm so dissapointed with how her kit is designed, and being forced to pull Nahida to play her team optimally makes it even worse. Maybe her rerun she'll will probably get better, but I'm still going for her regardless because waifu.

Lucky you! I only just recently got kokomi on my 2nd account so I'm in no way able to get nilou, more so both. I'm saving hard for nahida on my main so maybe I'll get nilou on her rerun.
Not just her passive is weird but also her constellations Like i dont get it why would a bloom focused character just get a simple damage bonus when other characters have their kit changed drastically changed😑
I really think that her c6 should have been the same as Nahida C2 and it can stack with it or atleast make characters buffed by her make two bountiful cores everytime they proc bloom😑
It would have been nice to allow at least a single teammate with nonreactive elements to dendro to allow for grouping or shielding with the current cast of characters.

mixing up the names Nilou and Nahida is understandable. I have done it a lot with Yanfei and Yoimiya. Theres quite a few names you can mix and match and it was fun coming up with these so I figured i'd share. Nahilou and Nihida / Nida Yoifei and Yanmiya Xiangqiu and Xingling Dihya and Dehluc
I'm pulling for Nilou anyway because she's waifu. However, I have 2 fears. First, I'm scared of losing the 50/50 on Nahida. Second, I'm afraid that Nilou's seeds' AoE won't be big enough against big enemies that just walk backwards and sidewards all the time.

Also, you will fail to utilize the full amount of benefits from the Deepwood Artifact such as the dendro dmg bonus. Considering that it's an only Bloom Team, Deepwood Artifact should be better off with a Dendro Character. Deepwood Nilou is copium imo.
@@minako-chan1420 It depends what the other teammates are, imo. (And fair warning, this is gonna get long as the deliberation got away from me). In 2-hydro-2-dendro, Collei or DMC have low enough personal damage that a utility 4pc is perfectly acceptable. For 3-hydro-1-dendro with Nahida it might be a different story. My pick for Deepwood is Kokomi, since she'd otherwise be stuck with her current 4pc ToM that doesn't do all that much, but if I didn't have her and decided to use Barbara as my healer for that team, it'd be between XQ/Yelan (a non-starter since their personal damage is too important), Nilou (who loses 20% HP from ToM there and 2pc set flexibility) or Nahida (who would lose a bunch of EM or personal damage while building a 4pc set that only buffs her as much as 2pc set with 3 rainbow and be much tougher to build so it's up to par). On-field Nahida spends a lot of time utilizing the quality of her artifact build, so I'd sooner throw together a middling HP set for Nilou and focus on building a really good Nahida. On the other hand, 4pc Deepwood always sounds like a good idea to put on a dendro so any dendro-damage team they land on will carry the bonus without tedious arti switches. If it's a valid set on Tighnari, if no one else will carry it, it'll probably be the same for Nahida.
@@Yoanka understandable if you'll be running 3 hydro - 1 dendro. But then, I think you'd still be better off with 1:1 ratio of dendro and hydro. With that, you'll also get to have a dendro resonance bonus, otherwise you'll be losing that bonus.
@@minako-chan1420 I'm not sure. When we get a dendro healer that can be built with EM, I'll look into it. At the moment, trading a XQ's/Yelan's personal damage for 80-140 team EM feels like leaning too hard into the archetype and sacrificing team dps in the end. I suppose we won't really know what's better in practice until Nahida is released for us to test her dendro application for certain.

@@cleod7439 Nilou does have big multipliers in her skill and burst that can vape. I heard the multipliers even got nerfed in beta so it might be viable to build her pure vape.
the team restriction for nilou isnt really a new thing tho. itto literally only has one good team which includes 3 limited 5* characters and a c6 4* character (who's only been on two banners). can he function outside of that team? sure. but he's definitely not gonna shine without it the same goes for nilou. outside of her bloom teams, i think she can still function as a freeze enabler and vape nuker (similar to childe, heck she might even fit into international team as a discount childe). i think it would be interesting to talk about her alternative team options that dont rely on bloom since her hp scalings are pretty decent
True in the end most dps have their own niche team like ayaka freeze and hutao vape. It just because her being hydro people expect much flexibilty and her niche is with dendro which is still limited. I think dendro is one of strongest element right now so her future isnt bad
Vape Nilou won't work due to her ER need. Nilou TC has already looked into it. Even the CN community is more of running. Nilou-Yelan-Xiangling-Kazuha but unless you whale, removing Nilou for Kazuha, Sucrose and Raiden gives a superior team.
I have and love kokomi and I think Nilou is gorgeous so I’m definitely going to try to get her. Nahida is also a must pull for me so I’ll be getting her soon as well. I just hope I actually enjoy her play style
bennett c5, xinqiu, yelan, fischl, kazuha, sucrose, venti and raiden exist in the game that is problem, you can think in any team in the game that isnt itto geo teams and they will have a chance, the problem with this new niche character is they force you use specific team composition for them to work
yeah it feels bad that nilou is so unique and looks so good, but she's basically just an ascension passive bot for her team. If she was the on fielder on her team and wasn't hinging so much on a future 5*, i'd feel a lot better pulling for her even itto was more convenient than this. At least gorou is a 4 star, and you actually get to see itto in action. Imagine if it was flipped, and you had to on-field gorou, it would be so frustrating. Nahida is ok. Her coordinated E attack requires an elemental reaction to trigger, so in bloom teams she needs another dendro character to trigger bloom consistently in order to trigger her coordinated E attacks.
I'm sure they're gonna release characters with less-restricted off-field dendro app in the future.

I’ve always thought it would be really cool if they made units for other elements that group. Like we could have a hydro unit that forms a whirlpool and groups enemies or a geo unit that uses quicksand. If we had a hydro unit like that it would make a huge difference for nilou.

@@Vorexxa Mona's and Amber's Es have already taught us that these types of taunts are basically non-functional as far as grouping goes. Too many ranged enemies, too many enemies hanging back from their targets like slimes or doing in-and-out attacks like the Kairagi. We need to physically force enemies into a spot if we want them to actually get there in a viable amount of time.

Nilou is basically a hydro character, with Geo level of limitation. Probably not ideal to put her on other teams, but should work well on her niche, basically very Geo-ish. With that said, i have Kokomi, and will pull Nahida, so i will pull her still. After all at the end of the day, it’s still a new playstyle, and AR60 me don’t mind a niche character. Honestly i might have pull myself an Itto if i actually have Albedo and Gorou, but that’s not the case hah…

The empowered bloom seems like it backfires on the team, if only that it doesnt friendly fire. Kit feels weird because it forces a healer while limiting the chars to dendro and hydro to enjoy nilou's passive. I hate the fact that nahida would feel like a "must pull" after you get nilou.
Yeah, playing Nilou without Nahida would probably feel like playing Xiao without a battery, terrible.
Really love Nilou as a character and her aesthetics, but her mechanics are some of the worse and probably the most limited character wise.
Yeah I was trying a bloom team last week and noticed the self damage. It's small but it'll add up without a healer. I remember Xaio has a talent that makes it so he doesn't take fall damage so I wondered why doesn't Nilou have one that negates bloom damage?
She's a cute character but looking like a rerun for me. I'll go for Nahida if I want a character who's cute and will be used more.

The meta right now is dominated by claymore characters that can defeat the rock node mini bosses much faster than most other characters. Ever since Zhong Li totally upset the meta on release noone has been able to dethrone him, but it looks like Nahida might upset the rock breaking meta

The meta right now is 4 healer/shielder team comp because having less than full health is giving anxiety so all healer/shielder team makes it anxiety free.

Nice pre-release analysis. At the end of the day Nilou is still hydro so even if we ignore her passive she still could have some uses as a copium sidegrade or downgrade of other hydros.

hydro supporting: kokomi, barbara, candace, xinqiu
thrilling tales: is what turns kokomi and barbara into buffers and yelans buff hp that is good for hu tao and zhongling
xinqiu can do all but limited by his 4 star status

I really like all the Hydro characters so might throw some rolls at Nilou to keep my 5* Hydro collection up to date, plus she's pretty, so I'm really not pulling her for her dmg at all kek, gonna slot her in as driver for double hydro National maybe? should be fine

@@rafael285pc thay's why OP said sidegrade or downgrade. Sidegrade means nor better nor worse, downgrade means worse but usable. Examples: 1. Kokomi is a sidegrade for teaser - Sucrose driver = better grouping but no dedicated healer. 2. Xingqiu is a great unit but in Ganyu freeze team for example he's a downgrade, just like Yelan (for obvious reasons). 3. Kokomi is a sidegrade in freeze to Mona (less dmg but you have a dedicated healer). In general, the character can be strong or not but that doesn't define how good they are in a particular team.
I agree with OP that Nilou might be a sidegrade in some teams - let's not forget she has a hydro AoE on her burst and skill (that Barbara-like thingy but bigger) which already is valuable. But we can't be sure now since we don't know exactly how it will play,especially with so many artifact sets and weapon options. Leaks won't show you specific rotations or how difficult something is to execute. Oh and let's not forget Nahida isn't out as well, maybe she will actually make burgeon viable. Or who knows, they may announce a dedicated set for Nilou in 3.2 livestream. Basically nothing is set in stone, now more than ever since it's a very unique character

Nilou's passive could go like, having additional dendro or hydro teammate decrease the bontiful core trigger time by 1.5 sec. And possibly give additional dmg %. instead of punishing people, always reward people for playing that way.
Her kit being limited only for bloom teams, and requires at least one dendro character to function her bountiful cores really erks me as to why they love limiting such future units.

- If it's enough, I might go with a team of Nilou with Fav or Sap, Nahida, DMC with Fav or Sap and Yelan with Elegy.
- If it's not enough, I'll change Yelan to Xingqiu.
Assuming 30 blooms with each blooms dealing around 20k damage. That's a total of 600k damage per rotation. 5% of 600k is 30k damage, even if Nilou's tanking all the damage with her 50k HP, prototype amber will only heal for 18% of 50k HP or around 9k only. That's definitely not enough healing.

for me it really depends on how good she works with barbara since I don´t have kokomi and don´t want to wish for her, I would play without healer but since dendro cores dmg our own team that isn´t an option in nilou teams and so far we only have 2 hydro/dendro healer being barbara and kokomi

Personally, I have zero desire in effectively wasting Kokomi or Nilou's kits by building them full EM, so the 1 Dendro triple hydro with Nahida will probably the team I play most once she's out. I may be wiling to sacrifice Barbara's kit and build EM on her since to be frank I don't play Barbara at all currently, but even that feels kinda janky to me.
Nilou will certainly be a unique character in the roster. Very similar to Shenhe in that regard.

Theres quite a few names you can mix and match and it was fun coming up with these so I figured i'd share.

Important to note that Deepwood on Nilou is not recommended when she's off-field since she can't proc it then.
Also, you will fail to utilize the full amount of benefits from the Deepwood Artifact such as the dendro dmg bonus. Considering that it's an only Bloom Team, Deepwood Artifact should be better off with a Dendro Character. Deepwood Nilou is copium imo.
@@minako-chan1420 It depends what the other teammates are, imo. (And fair warning, this is gonna get long as the deliberation got away from me).
In 2-hydro-2-dendro, Collei or DMC have low enough personal damage that a utility 4pc is perfectly acceptable.
For 3-hydro-1-dendro with Nahida it might be a different story. My pick for Deepwood is Kokomi, since she'd otherwise be stuck with her current 4pc ToM that doesn't do all that much, but if I didn't have her and decided to use Barbara as my healer for that team, it'd be between XQ/Yelan (a non-starter since their personal damage is too important), Nilou (who loses 20% HP from ToM there and 2pc set flexibility) or Nahida (who would lose a bunch of EM or personal damage while building a 4pc set that only buffs her as much as 2pc set with 3 rainbow and be much tougher to build so it's up to par). On-field Nahida spends a lot of time utilizing the quality of her artifact build, so I'd sooner throw together a middling HP set for Nilou and focus on building a really good Nahida.
On the other hand, 4pc Deepwood always sounds like a good idea to put on a dendro so any dendro-damage team they land on will carry the bonus without tedious arti switches. If it's a valid set on Tighnari, if no one else will carry it, it'll probably be the same for Nahida.
@@Yoanka understandable if you'll be running 3 hydro - 1 dendro. But then, I think you'd still be better off with 1:1 ratio of dendro and hydro. With that, you'll also get to have a dendro resonance bonus, otherwise you'll be losing that bonus.
@@minako-chan1420 I'm not sure. When we get a dendro healer that can be built with EM, I'll look into it. At the moment, trading a XQ's/Yelan's personal damage for 80-140 team EM feels like leaning too hard into the archetype and sacrificing team dps in the end.
I suppose we won't really know what's better in practice until Nahida is released for us to test her dendro application for certain.
I need to know I'm not the only one using a Nilou-Barbara-Dendro Traveler-Collei team; at least until Nahida's release (replacing Collei).

Nilou with Prototype Amber
Yelan with Elegy
My plan is to see if R5 Prototype Amber's heal is enough for the team or not. If not, I'll change Yelan to Xingqiu next.

Is vape Nilou that bad? I think they intended her to be built differently tho. Even most of her constellations increase her own damage.
Nilou vape is like use kokomi in vape in terms of hydro application (but without the heals)
How differently? Her personal damage is not that good as you can see from the calcs.

@@cleod7439 Nilou does have big multipliers in her skill and burst that can vape. I heard the multipliers even got nerfed in beta so it might be viable to build her pure vape.

the team restriction for nilou isnt really a new thing tho. itto literally only has one good team which includes 3 limited 5* characters and a c6 4* character (who's only been on two banners). can he function outside of that team? sure. but he's definitely not gonna shine without it
the same goes for nilou. outside of her bloom teams, i think she can still function as a freeze enabler and vape nuker (similar to childe, heck she might even fit into international team as a discount childe). i think it would be interesting to talk about her alternative team options that dont rely on bloom since her hp scalings are pretty decent
True in the end most dps have their own niche team like ayaka freeze and hutao vape. It just because her being hydro people expect much flexibilty and her niche is with dendro which is still limited. I think dendro is one of strongest element right now so her future isnt bad
Vape Nilou won't work due to her ER need.

Nilou-Yelan-Xiangling-Kazuha but unless you whale, removing Nilou for Kazuha, Sucrose and Raiden gives a superior team.
I opened this video right after a DankPods video, and was confused as to why the HURRDURR-600 song was still playing.
I have and love kokomi and I think Nilou is gorgeous so I’m definitely going to try to get her. Nahida is also a must pull for me so I’ll be getting her soon as well. I just hope I actually enjoy her play style
I think it'll be fine because as long as you have Kokomi the self damage won't feel bad
I dig her style, i always have been down bad for blade dancers..... And then they make her so restrictive... I guess it's a skip for me
I really preffer a strong unit in a nieche than a mid unit that is ok in a couple teams
bennett c5, xinqiu, yelan, fischl, kazuha, sucrose, venti and raiden exist in the game that is problem, you can think in any team in the game that isnt itto geo teams and they will have a chance, the problem with this new niche character is they force you use specific team composition for them to work
yeah it feels bad that nilou is so unique and looks so good, but she's basically just an ascension passive bot for her team. If she was the on fielder on her team and wasn't hinging so much on a future 5*, i'd feel a lot better pulling for her
even itto was more convenient than this. At least gorou is a 4 star, and you actually get to see itto in action. Imagine if it was flipped, and you had to on-field gorou, it would be so frustrating. Kinda what nahida and nilou are shaping up to be
