If you pass someone on a fast bike it’s the bike that gets the credit, but pass them on a slow one and it’s all you!

It's based on a superbike, but what a world we live in when these big, comfortable adventure bikes ride well enough to give some poor chaps difficulty on their liter bikes 🤣

Ran my 990 at Road America a few years ago and had similar fun. Best part was swapping to knobbies and then riding sections of Backcountry Discovery Routes on the way back home to Utah. The Nothing like a KTM ADV to make the world a racetrack. Great vid!
As an All-road biker (Honda Transalp / Africa Twin) I've always wondered what the point is of putting the knee down in turns. We're taught to keep appendages on board at all times, whatever happens. Putting out a leg to break a fall especially at higher speed, will guarantee a (serious) injury. Better to fall over and skid (you and the bike will separate immediately), than to have your leg crushed under the bike and possibly getting tangled in a wheel. Moto cross riders do put out a leg, but only when travelling slow and their bikes are relatively light compared to 600-1200 CC all-road motorcycles. Anyways, I've gone in to bends with my Transalp where the bike has leaned over so far that the edge of the sole of my boot scraped the tarmac, and the Transalp is a high bike. I estimate it at 60 degrees. But did that all with my legs and feet firmly clamped against the frame of the bike, with my body straight ont he bike, not leaning over.
Over time I've realized it isn't necessary on road but it does reduce lean angle by changing the center of gravity. On the right bike with the right ergos it just feels nice. The twist of the wrist books go into it more. Fortnine has a video explaining the merits of doing the opposite of leaning off.
While the KTM is an awesome weapon, using it on a track against "track-focused" bikes is much like riding a slow bike fast. You just can't beat that feeling. Kudos, sir. Use that talent and experience to show them how its done.
@@canismajoris6733 I would argue that getting the most out of whatever bike you're riding is what the track is for and that's what's so rewarding about "outriding" people on faster bikes. ;)

Regardless of the hatred that Ktm receives and its reputation as a manufacturer of unreliable, high-maintenance motorcycles, I think we all have to agree that these are intoxicating machines that excite the senses and give off an aura of delinquency that no other manufacturer can match. As a proud owner of a 990 SM-T since 2013, I have to tell you that this machine has given me nothing but smiles and juvenile pleasure since the beginning and that my machine has always proven to be very reliable.
Great riding. Although not many people can ride to that level (adjust riding style/ lines to get the most out of it etc), I was actually slightly surprised by how slow it was out of bends - e.g. compared to the R1.
Very nice, thanks! I have an SAR, take if offroad sometimes, it's quite a handful. The motor is incredible 'though. Just wondering, if you get a chance, can you tell me more about your camera setup? Particularly interested in which gimbal you're using.
If you would fill that tractor with 98 gas instead of diesel fuel, you will overtake more people easily ✌🏻. Bridgestone A41 also not good for racing, but good enough for emergency camping in cold weather in bad areas. Could fire it up and get some heat.
Seen your content before. I thought it was good, but I didn't see a reason to come back and subscribe. Well... guess what now buddy - you have a new one, and you earned it in spite of myself. Also - echoing "z" comment below - the soundtrack is just gold.
Excellent video and I loved the Mario-style sound effects. But to be fair, what was the level of the other riders? You are, after all, a consummate professional 😉.
Since I had nothin much to do, here's a list of what I believe was the body count: 1. BMW S1000 RR 2. Ducati Panigale 1299 S/R/SP? 3. Yamaha R1/M 4. Triumph Street Triple R
Did a couple of track days on my Cagiva Elefant. Fit street tyres, and adventure bikes make pretty fast road bikes. Memorably, I was having a nice dice with a Ducati 900ss until he dropped it.
Congratulations 👏 well done, just wondering if you we’re running the KTM and new race exhaust without the race map? Not saying that it would give you loads more power, but it would be much smoother and about 5bhp
I remember everyone being shocked when Wayne Gardner came over to Blighty with his sit-up & beg set-up. Although his style did look funny, it was clear he was able to man-hondal the bike better than the clip-on brigade in many instances. Ok it was a Moriwanki Kwack, but he did race a CB1100R back in my Strine home cuntry. Attended endurance race at RAF West Raynham in `81 where one of those CB lumps won. It got through a lot of tyres, unlike the bike I was there to assess and subsequently bought.
Yep, how underated are Dual sport bikes ? I used my Suzi V-Strom 650 on track and it was sooo fun and could keep up with most bikes in the medium group.(straights excluded). The best bike i ever had.
Loved it! But the big question is whether your lap times put you on the day. 😉 - So, if you need one bike to do it all... I mean, you can go all Sjaak Lucassen and get an R1 to go around the world on, or you can get a 1290 Super Adventure S. I know what my pick would be. And you would probably be faster on a lot of terrain than an R1. 👍😉
In a weird way you just sold a new 23' Suzuki V-Strom 1050 it comes standard with A41's and when they run out I'll spoon on T32's as my one bike does it all and trackday. Save me about $5,000 off the KTM. Not worried about the extra hp because I'm not fast enough to make up the difference yet.

Hhhaha lovin it, Especially the mario bros sound effects! Thanks for sharing, nicely done!
That is hilarious and testament to how good a bike the 1290 is - top notch entertainment!!
Since I had nothin much to do, here's a list of what I believe was the body count:
1. BMW S1000 RR
2. Ducati Panigale 1299 S/R/SP?
3. Yamaha R1/M
4. Triumph Street Triple R
Another great vid - I really enjoyed this one and have wanted to see how the 1290 is on track... Multi Pikes Peak next perhaps? 😉
I live on top of Pembrey mountain and hear the bikes all the time and love it. When was this video done in August?
And the best bit is, you can go on through the gravel trap just as fast. Genius!
Nice riding Al! The sound effects were genius too. 🙌🏼😁
Not worried about the extra hp because I'm not fast enough to make up the difference yet.
that's good mate, the pitch, the facts., the smug laugh, yeah into it. cheers.
Hilarious! Any thoughts on using the radar distance control on the track? 😂
Have had some fun on the Super Tenere on the bitumen also, great video. Thanks.
Flipping hilarious…. Love the content!!
Fantastic vid. You guys continue to keep up the entertainment. Best Moto vids out there. Keep up the great work! from the states
Mario music and sound effects were just spot on. Good one.
Fantastic, great to watch what can be done on a bike like this.
