In Australia, in the 1950s, a Holocaust survivor interviewed a former concentration camp guard, for a job. He recognised the guard instantly, but wasn't recognised in return. Unbelievably the survivor gave the guard the job. Sometime later, when all was revealed, the guard asked, why? The survivor told him that he wanted to "draw the line" , they both had post war families and their lives had moved on. The survivor's son is today a famous doctor and loud shirt wearing media personality and has told the story quite publicly.

This is the former Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Israel Lau,who survived the Holocaust, if my memory serves me well.
Rabbi Lau is also one of the youngest survivors of Buchenwald. He still has the rifle an American GI gave him after the camp’s liberation.
